I really want to update the system to windows 10 and have steam running on it if possible. I’m afraid to brick the system again … I had to re-flash the system … anything you recommend and how to get steam running on it ?
Still love my vcs! Can't play guntech2,thrustlander,and gravitar recharged any other way than on the classic controller with spinner. Definitely an exclusive experience
@johnhancockretro that's very easy! I live in Vancouver WA, I can do it for you. You probably don't remember me but we've met a couple of times 😄 I'm friends with Luis Retro Gamer Brasil, also NTGames. We are always together at events etc.
You can also minimize the fan noise by changing a setting in the BIOS: Go to 'Setup Utility' -> 'AMD CBS' -> 'Core Performance Boost' and set it to 'Disabled'. For me, this made a huge difference and I didn't have to open the machine and change the CPU thermal paste.
Hey John (and commenters) I had a question. I’ve been looking at getting a VCS. I grew up after Atari mostly with a NES, but have always been fascinated by Atari. I mostly retro game on my Switch or Evercade, so I have access to the Recharged series, Atari 50, and other collections. What’s interesting to me about the VCS though is using a classic controller and playing 7800 home brews like the Dragon trilogy or Crystal Quest. Is the VCS worth it for that? I’m really not sure. Is there another Atari product where I can get a better shot at classic controls and 7800 games? Thanks for the videos! (Long time watcher, infrequent commenter)
The 2600+ is another product that plays 7800 games. Physical cart only. Then you have the Gamestation Pro that does play 7800 games and more. I’ve done reviews on both of these items
I started searching for your other reviews as I typed the comment. Lol. Thank you thank you for all of the videos and reviews. Game station might be for me.
These retro consoles aren't getting any cheaper, but that moustache keeps getting longer. ;-) I'm a harsh critic of _My Arcade_ and _AtGames,_ but I think they learned the right lessons from the retro console wars of the last 10 years -Atari didn't
Great video! I love my VCS. I did all the upgrades, RAM ... SSD... quad boot... AtariOS, Windows 11, Ubuntu and Batocera

I did the RAM and SSD upgrades and for the space issue alone I am glad that I did. Both were fairly simple upgrades too if you take your time.
@Ultimategc13 I've followed a really good video, let me see if I can find it.

Oh and I solved the loud noise by removing the CPU thermal strip and adding thermal paste instead, huge difference.
Yeah, that is a future fix for me.

I still enjoy this system there's some hidden gems on here ❤️

I'd really like to get one, but Atari won't ship them outside of North America.

It looks cool, but I'm just not a fan of subscription services. I wish there were just one time purchases.
There isn't a subscription service unless you're referring to antstream arcade. Most of the games on the platform are one time purchases.
Is pong quest on this? Or neo sprint?
Neo sprint and pong quest 2 is
@johnhancockretro I knew I made the right purchase thanks for the feedback
Wait...wait...I thought this was a scam and was never coming out? 😂
