  • We made it to Vienna, Austria and today we are heading to a village within Vienna (or Wien, as it's known in Austria) and we are heading to Grinzing--a town known for it's vineyards, traditional wine houses, and of course, delicious wine and Viennese delicacies. Today I'm trying chicken schnitzel, a potato salad, apple streudel, wine, and local Austria beers all of which are my FIRST TIME trying Austrian food and I am SO excited!!!
Quick side note: the place we went to for lunch (Cann't recommend it enough, especially if you get to meet Oscar!) was called "Maly's" and it was a 10/10!!!!
Our Airbnb host gave us this recommendation to see this part of town and we are so glad we did. At the most it's about a 45 minute tram ride from the heart of the city and you will discover how peaceful and beautiful the village of Grinzing is. It's almost as if you drove for hours with the complete change of scenery and beautiful greenery you are immersed in.
    Country No. 11: 0:01

    Finding THE "Instagram" spot: 2:44
    Maly's for Lunch: 3:10
Trying to read a German Menu: 3:23
    Trying "Zwettler":
Trying a German Beer for the First Time: 4:22
    Ordering in (broken) German: 5:25
    Trying potato salad: 6:07
Trying Schnitzel for the First Time: 6:38
    Trying Austria Wine: 7:19
    Trying Apple Streudel: 8:28
    Post-meal Thoughts: 9:43
    Exploring the Grinzing Vineyards: 10:33
While I know there are tons more VIENNESE and AUSTRIAN foods to try, I couldn't fit them all in this video, but make sure you stay tuned because I try so many more goodies in the #ViennaVlog coming out next - so make sure to SUBSCRIBE!

Austrian Beer is just the essences of real beer: water, malt and a plant called Hopfen in German. No spices or flavorings. If there are flavors, it is called a Radler. (usually beer mixed with lemonade made of lemons).

2 things come to mind when I think of Austria.
Their food & their quality firearms manufacturers (Glock & Steyr).
    Such a cool country.

If you have language problems reading the menu, ask the waiter for help. I suspect that translation programs also have a bit of a problem with Austrian "technical terms".

As I can see, you had Gmundner Keramik-plates. Typical Austrian pattern you might find in a lot of homes.

I am actually from this „village“ even though it‘s still inside Vienna and I am so happy that it is getting more popular to come here again. We need many more people coming to eat at our traditional restaurants. It‘s def a hidden treasure.
The dressing for the salad is beef stock, oil, vinegar, mustard, salt, pepper and a lot of sugar :)

We have a thing called in Bavaria Austria uses the same rules where beer is only made with water , Hopfen and malt that’s why our beer is better than American 😂

The US uses a ton of rice for their beer, hence it tastes different!

  • @horstschafer1839

Just a little mistake, you should have the schnitzel from calf, that's the original Austrian, or even from pork, that is the cheaper equivalant.
But, don't mind, as long as tastes fine, we're fine. Greet's from Austria!

      Nusspalatschinke
      Kaiserschmarren
      Salzburger Nockerl
      And many more :)
Btw: i live in America and long so much for proper beer. Seeing you guys drink made me feel badly homesick, but also Oskar made a nice move in recommending the wine there, because its so authentic there and has a long tradition.
