While it does happen in other fandoms...not in every one of them the scale's as big as this one Even a guy here in the comments that called "theblackdragon" is a toxic dude. He's just denying it. Either way it sucks that fandoms are like that, both godzilla and in general
This has gotta be the most tone deaf response I’ve seen on this issue. You’re basically saying that the girls who endure this should just suck it up and endure continued abuse. It’s not a matter of ‘standing up’, it’s a matter of SAFETY. It’s not as easy as just ‘fighting’ the behavior when you’re the victim of it, and in an environment where more common than it should be. That’s why girls are leaving, they don’t feel SAFE. Also, your statement about experiencing bad behavior being implied in being involved in a community that is predominantly one gender is a load of crap. Just because a majority of a fandom’s members are a certain gender doesn’t mean that fandom would treat someone of another gender poorly, nor should that behavior be acceptable. It’s this kind of thinking that allows this kind of behavior to persist.
I don't think you watched the whole video, also at no point did we say they should just stick it out. We said they should come forward with information if they have any to get rid of the bad actors, and if they want to step away that is completely fine too. We acknowledge coming forward with such information is no easy task for anyone.
@@actioncreature Calling out people isn't that simple, and not everyone responds to abuse/trauma the same way. You consistently said throughout the video that you want 'receipts' and everything that Alyssa said was conjecture. A lot of cases of abuse go unreported due to fear of retaliation, fear of not being believed, as well as other factors. That's why so many people who suffer these kinds of these try to keep quiet about it, and your statements saying, "why not call them out?" aren't helping. You also complained that Matt Frank was saying that it's 'straight white guys' that are the issue, when he was simply stating that those who don't fit that demographic are usually one's who don't endure these issues. This whole video felt like y'all taking someone else's horrible experiences personally. If you're not the type of people they described, cool, you have nothing to be offended by. But this has been an ongoing issue for too long in this fandom, and saying you don't understand why someone who was harassed doesn't just 'stand up' is a terrible argument.
@@gzillag7777 I understand what you are saying and agree mostly, again though I have to reiterate that it is completely fine for someone to not come forward. I would never criticize someone that chooses to keep those encounters to themselves. The reason why we stressed coming forward was important is because that is the only way for change to happen. That doesn't mean they would have to publicly out themselves either, there are many ways to come forward if you choose to do so.
@@gzillag7777If they don't stand up, nothing will ever change. Simple and to the point. The MeToo movement wasn't successful because people stood back and kept silent. It was the opposite. And from a legal standpoint, yes, it's all unsubstantiated and conjecture without proof.
i don't understand why people are taking the same route, leaving the fandom just because one godzilla fan has different experiences in the godzilla community. yes, their bad behavior needs to be exposed. Do not shy away because of your feelings. Just tell who these people are and take action. Again, leaving the fandom doesn't fix anything is so dramatic and so force.
The voice actor of Edward, Vic Mignogna, was fired over allegations, but anyone that looked into the allegations didn't find them convincing. In fact, some of them made by Monica Rial were inconsistent. The whole #KickVic thing got started because there were people within the anime fandom who had a hatred for Vic because he was flamboyant, was open with his Christian faith, and talked about how his roles as Edward from FMA changed someone's life, so the whole thing exploded in 2019 because the Broly movie was catching popularity. Which would make you think why didn't these people go to the police long before 2019 if they thought Vic was a creep. As for the lawsuit Nick Rekieta funded, looking back on it now, it was going to go nowhere. There wasn't enough evidence to show torturous interference. But as the old saying goes, "the winners will be the lawyers." In the end, I'm just happy that Vic got hired by Anime Matsuri to be a voice dub director. They're making some good progress for a little mom and pop dubbing studio, but I will say that they do dream too big for their own good.
Matt is so freaking desperate to join any sort of discourse and drama to remain relevant..... Also I've looked everywhere for this post of Alyssa's and it's nowhere to be found.
Also I'll say this a big reason why I'm sure Kaiju Kim and Alyssa are leaving the Fandom so to speak, is because their overpriced fan film didn't get backed and they clearly aren't getting the kind of following they crave or want. Which the fact Kaiju Kim left the fan film out was kind of weird as they were both involved in that.
@actioncreature attempted to have a fan film. It was going to be directed by Kaiju Kim and starring alyssa. It was pure fan fiction and they were asking 10,000 dollars for it. th-cam.com/video/fIP3pT8ljzI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Abeffif-YX4Aj9I5
