this reminds me of the sticknodes godzilla community, I used to be a decently big animator going by DTL, LW, or Kaprosuchusanims and I used to like the community as there were a bunch of cool people I met (some being shin animations, Jeffzilla, and the guy who made the Subverse goji). It was very fun animating with people until I started to become that guy you'd always ask for a favor, and due to this I never could get any of my projects done and I was always burnt out from helping yet too kind to stop helping, all of that led to when I snapped as while I was working on a GvD (godzilla vs dest) animation with a guy name TDP, I did around a week's worth of work for free (I never really had any prices or traded models with people) and had it all deleted and replaced by what is in my opinion a rather stale and generic fight that last less than a minute compared to mine which lasted around 3 minutes. I decided to try and stop helping my buds for a bit as I had been doing so non stop for like almost a year and when I did everyone got mad I wouldn't help and I started to get pushed away from even close friends, I got so mad after a heated discussion with TDP, OmegaRaptr, and others in a discord server I leaked all the private models I had of huge animators (TDP, Subverse models, etc) and went to sleep. When I got back online the next day I had gotten bombed on every video and animation, even my friends like thunderstrikeanims and jeffzilla were taking everyone else's side despite everything I had done for most of them for free, I left the community after trying to do another project but getting bombed by people like omegaraptr so I decided I would borrow a family's laptop to use blender for a bit before getting my own. now I am here today which I feel a lot better, mentally atleast compared to me when I had shot up from 1 sub to 300 in less that 3 months and was working basically 24/7 with big animators.
@@boneaphobicpizza9217 I feel much better now, I still forgive my old close buds like thunderstrikeanims and jeffzilla but I still recommend never becoming a sticknodes godzilla animator.
"religiously went through gojipedia until it sucked" I laughed harder than I thought I would!........ Silliness aside, very important subject matter to bring up here. Just because a lot of fandoms have these sorts of issues, doesn't mean we can't make strides into fixing them. Nobody should be put through what perfectly good people like you have gone through. I think the G-fandom is in a very critical spot here. We've had decades of older fans coming off a cooled period between 2004 into 2014; then the franchise has been running on nitro since. The Monster'verse, Shin Godzilla, and all that has come since such as the big Toku revival. It's all brought in a lot of new fans in. And with us going into about a decade into this new era, a lot of those newer fans are beginning to get more socially active as they cusp on their 20s and brand new kids are joining in as well; no time like the present.
It falls to us that we need the toxic fans to understand that this behavior is NOT acceptable in *any* shape or form. If we have to ostracize them, so be it.
We can all like the Godzilla franchise, but we don’t have to like its fanbase (for example; I like the My Hero Academia and Attack on Titan franchises, but I don’t like their fanbases).
I'm so glad this conversation is finally being had! Thank you for speaking your mind! On the note about bigots, anytime anyone refers to a pride banner as "bringing politics into it" i get major red flags. The LGBTQ+ community deserves to feel represented.
I remember back when gvk was coming out, people were getting angry that Godzilla could lose or that Kong looked taller etc, meanwhile Kong fans were just excited for the movie. Even after it came out people were shitting on the kong fans, gloating about it.
Tbh with all these people talking about how bad some of the community and fandom that surrounds Godzilla is... it honestly feels like 2016 all over again. When I first joined the fandom and there was massive drama going on about Godzilla content creators. It feels so weird to me...
Yes it also let me tell you my story cuz one back then in 2014 I was more of a dinosaur fan than the Godzilla fan and it was the film Godzilla 2014 that got me in the series and yes I didn't know him that much and I only wanted to just keep me watching it so what I did was I want to know where he begins so yes I watch some of the showa some of the heisei some of the Millennium and yeah and yes I have seen probably some of and then I watched all the Monstrous films including the one in 2024 and yes I can agree I was like wait so is there even a fan base and yes there is but it's not pretty good😂

As much as I love Godzilla, unfortunately it is a fact that the fandom is very flawed
Well tbh every fandom is flawed
It falls to us that we need the toxic fans to understand that this behavior is NOT acceptable in *any* shape or form. If we have to ostracize them, so be it.
What caused the fandom to be toxic?
@@gojifan2372 Dunno. But it needs to change.
@@gojifan2372 tbh i’d blame powerscaling
The fandom's a nice but also wackily toxic place sometimes.
trigen was a really terrible person lol.
We feel you man.
Accusing someone of being "homophobic" because they disagree with a banner being associated with a game is pretty wild
@@ImPhynsa How is it not homophobic? Also, I made the banner so like...make it make sense.
It isn't enough to gatekeep anymore. Problematic individuals within our fandom must be located and...corrected.

I sometimes don’t even think I’m safe in the community considering the amount of bullying I’ve gotten from fellow G fans for being gay.
Monsterverse Godzilla:(snarling)your channel will be okay man.
toho backtracked the short actually according to the shorts creator.
