  • The Hindu Kush Himalaya region is the world's third-largest repository of ice, after the North and South Poles -- and if current melting rates continue, two-thirds of its glaciers could be gone by the end of this century. What will happen if we let them melt away? Environmentalist and former Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay shares the latest from the "water towers of Asia," making an urgent call to create an intergovernmental agency to protect the glaciers -- and save the nearly two billion people downstream from catastrophic flooding that would destroy land and livelihoods.

We need leaders like Mr. Tshering Tobgay, who work for the environment and for the world. This is the requirement for the present. Time is running out. We need to act upon the solutions proposed by respected sir. And solve this problem effectively and efficiently.

What about these climatologists with about 40 years of experience saying our climate, droughts, floods, hurricanes etc. was way worse in 1950, and even worse in 1930, but the current stats go only back to 1960.

This genial monk - earth politician opened my eyes with his talk "this country is carbon negative".. the world needs to study and implement the Bhutan model ASAP! My state Goa has a sacred energyprint like this Himalayan kingdom, but our people have lost the connection to the land, sea, forest and are unable to interpret the warnings from the Universe

He is my new hero... I am so in awe of how he speaks with intelligence and sincerity and he gets the message across, my only hope is that we take his message with all seriousness and see the extent of how global warming threatens our survival as a species not in the future but now and make a collective move to prevent this disaster as global citizens and not as dependents of governments who use politics strictly for the gain of a few!

I’m from Nepal and I don’t just want to blame the corrupt government for not caring about the environment. It can’t be solved by the government while the intelligent people are not even in the country, every youths who are highly educated are in Australia, USA or other “LAND OF OPPORTUNITIES”. Everyone must stand together we all can help minimize in a huge amount, just using electrical vehicles would make a great difference. So people, it now is not a thing about nations, it is about the WORLD. Stand together and fight along everyone🙏

"We must think globally and act regionally... " surely this man deserves to be called 'Leader of the Century'... We must think of what we all can contribute to save planet earth and ourselves... My contribution may be small but i know there's some change that i can and should make after hearing this... So instead of pointing finger, lets join hands and make the change

Mr Tshering Tobgay is what is called a Prime Minster, a person who listens and actions on behalf of his country. We have egoists leading other countries but what Tobgay commits is convincing. It's an urgent message that many haven't understood still today - because they don't care. Now we have with Mr. Tobgay a person that commits with a global voice - I am deeply impressed by his speech! Thanks
