    I'm so happy I found this. Ive been wanting to find a good chai recipe for years. Im a cable tech and a customer of mine, an Indian lady, served me the most amazing cup of tea I had ever had in my life. Chai of course. And since that day I've wanted to learn to make it. I just did it and I was so surprised at how good it came out. THANK YOU SO MUCH 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

    you should always first simmer the black tea in water first by 2 minutes max and then filter out the tea leaves, because it will leave a very strong bitterness to it if you dont, separate the milk process from the water process (milk with spices, tea with water), then mix them together! the flavor will be wonderful, also try to crush the ginger root a bit, which will enhance the flavor!

    Just one suggestion- if u like ginger flavor / strong tea, you can crush the ginger with cardmom in the pestle and mortar at the same time. This helps ginger juice to dissolve faster in the tea.

    • @typower9
      @typower9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you are addicted to the sugar as much as anything else......
      A good quality Darjeeling or other good quality loose leaf tea is divine. NB The more oxygen in the water, the better the taste. The tea pulling doesn't only cool the tea down. It also increases the oxygen content, thereby at the same time maximising the taste potential.
      Freshly boiled water makes better tea than double/triple boiled. That's why the instructions usually say 'freshly boiled' water.

    • @typower9
      @typower9 ปีที่แล้ว

      P.s. I meant to say Darjeeling etc plain (NO sugar or milk) is divine.

    As a kid, more than 45 years ago i would make a hot tea similar to this recipe. My grandma let us drink coffee with milk often, seen my Dad drink the same. But, me? I experimented black tea, cinnamon stick peices evaporated milk or whole milk, sugar, nutmeg and sometimes a leaf or two of fresh mint. Mind you all i had prepared this for myself starting around age 8 or 9 yrs old. I seen NO tea recipes on t.v. nor in any magazine or cook book. I was just a simple curious little poor farm girl who was not allowed to watch much t.v. and hardly ever had books at home other than Dad's encyclopedias us kids weren't allowed to touch. Grrrrr geshh father!!! I loved cooking shows on Saturday like Julia Child's show. If we were luck enough to use the t.v. set, if our antenna worked that day for whatever channel...hardly ever watched any cooking shows because with all my sibling raising their hands to watch Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman or some lame cartoon they won t.v. time over my ONE hand ✋
    I don't know why i would start creating drinks and snacks that others in my Mexican (Mex American) and Arkie (Mom's from L.R. Arkansas) mixed household did NOT like. More for ME!!
    Like i never liked plain Kool-Aid. There would have to be something added other than sugar. Lemonade: freshly squeezed lenon pulp. Orange: same and fruit punch had a punch to it by adding lots of fruity goodness. Oranges--Strawberries and fresh cherries.
    I need to try THIS Indian Tea! Reminds me of my childhood and i ain't even Indian/ Asian.

    Tried this today and I did not have any brick milk so I mixed 3 1/2 tbsps to 240ml of water. The final result was quite good but I think it would be better for me to add more tbsps of milk to make it less watery and more creamy. But thank you for the recipe! I loved it.

    Thank you so much for this recipe! I don’t drink coffee for pleasure and this past winter I have not been able to drink hot chocolate no matter how I made it or which chocolate or milk I used. It was too harsh on my stomach. But all the chai tea mixes and bags I bought tasted like watered down tea with no spice. This recipe has saved me! Now I have something I can enjoy and savor when it’s cold out! And as a bonus the ginger is soothing to my stomach. I also use coconut milk. Yum!

    Chai is literally the only tea I like. I don’t like the taste of other teas because I feel like they taste of branches and leaves lol but this tea is so good

    Cheers From Australia

      Hi, it makes 12oz/350ml. In India, this is 2 cups. Here in America, one massive cup…lol Depends on how big of a cup you drink! Cheers 😉

    Ma'am i would like to advice adding milk after you have boiled the tea leaves, cardamons and ginger in water. In my experience i have found it having a better flavour than boiling it along milk and ill also likt to advice that you crush ginger too.

      Not only that, but the procedure that you suggest prevents the milk from curdling, which can happen when milk comes in contact with fresh ginger.
