The way I see it, Solidus was more of an anti-villain. Some people might confuse him as an anti-hero, but an anti-hero is usually selfish, like, he might do the right thing, but only for his own personal gain or interest. Like Kratos in the first 3 God Of War games. He does the right thing, but only out of vengeance, and he sacrifices innocent lives along the way without a care. An anti-villain is more like a bad guy with good intentions. His ultimate goal is a noble one, but his methods of achieving it are questionable, like sacrificing innocent lives for the greater good and whatnot. oh yeah, im considering playing zone of the enders but i wanna know do i have to play both of the games to get the full story context or is it enough from the second game. i heard the first game was pretty subpar
If you're going to play the port version, I would suggest getting the PS3 HD copy and download the new update for it. The first game is pretty subpar but the game is relatively really short so I recommend you play that first. You don't really have to play the first game but it's very useful to grasp what world ZOE really is and some information that occurred in the first game really build up the moment in the second game. But you don't have to.
I have a soft spot for ZoE but it isn't nearly on the same level as Metal Gear. Kojima is great at what he does and he's my favorite video game man but ZoE's only good if you're into the gameplay - the story is style over substance and I feel like the series died before it really had the chance to blossom like Metal Gear did. (this is coming from a big fan of both games btw)
Mostly. The main villains are usually given enough backstory to understand and sympathize with why they're doing what they're doing. Sub-villains unfortunately don't always get the same treatment outside of maybe MGS2, and Skullface doesn't stack up to the rest but I'm willing to excuse that on the grounds of the production of MGSV being a fucking mess. Solidus is as much a bad guy as the Boss was, or Big boss, hell even Solid Snake.
I think Eli managed to be the closest to an actual bad guy, and we all know that Liquid had his own motivations that cast his actions in a different light.
**Laughs in Volgin, Skullface, Sundowner, and the rest of the Winds of Destruction besides Jetstream Sam**
0:00 that's... Jim Houseman, the ex-secretary of defense
needs to quit using that while referencing solidus
The La-le-lu-li-lo joke went from funny to infuriating in five seconds. You should have said it each time instead of just dubbing in the one use each time.
Agreed
It was funny all the way though
It kinda speaks to the nanomachiens replacing "The Patriots" with "La-le-lu-li-lo" thing. Cleaver, and the fact he spead it up shows he got how it could get annoying. Overall a great video on the TH-cams.
Same
Sounds like something an agent for the La-li-lu-le-lo would say.
I literally beat this game yesterday and I can already quote most of solidus’s speech
The LA LI LU LE LO gag was so fucking grating that it circled right back around to being funny again.
Saaaame, I mean, similar to the games lol
Take a shot every time he says "LA LI LU LA LO".
La Li Lu Le Lo
So that's what Solidus means.
Why not just say The Patriots, I get it's not as cool sounding but...
*la li lu le lo
I don't know what you mean, I said 「La Li Lu Le Lo」 What did you hear?
Nevermind I'm probably hearing things.
*censured by la-li-lu-le-lo
Solidus is the most under-rated character in the franchise. It would have been really cool to get a prequel game with him.
9:36 well damn, just dropped that info on him no warning, no regret or mercy... just a casual BTW 😂 thats really monstrous
I agree with most of what you said, hes not a good person, but I do think he's a villain. He worked towards an understandable goal with ruthless methods and no remorse
He's a villain imo
The ends justify the means
“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”
I wonder who would win in an election between George Sears and Stephen Armstrong
Nanomachines, son. That's who wins
Your videos are so good Meti, even if i'm not into the Metal Gear Solid I really liked it.
wow this is a lot of information I just took in I must be halfway done by now.... oh I'm only 4 minutes in....LALELILALO
Nope, Solid and Raiden we're the bad guys, their plans we're always backed by the patriots, ocelot knew this so he use that information against them
This game has everyone asking questions. It was like 2001
Great stuff is timeless
Named my absolute favorite cat that I ever had Solidus, he's was a rather sneaky lil $#!+ too, quite the ambush artist. 🤣
this is honestly a really good video.
good job.
Solidus was always my hero of the MGS series.
I miss the old intro where you open a drink
This was the hardest video of yours to watch imo because of the la-le-lu-li-lo shit
Asking if an antivillain is really a villain is as ridiculous as asking if an antihero is really a hero
You should do a video on how ocelot is the main character of the series not the Snakes
2:43 You forgot 9/11, which canonically happened, presumably in 2001, during Solidus’s presidency.
7:13 "It's your anniversary you inconsiderate ass. IDK why that poor girl puts up with you"
Did this man actually put the Tanya the evil theme in the background of a video talking about solidus snake
I KNEW i heard that shi somewhere before lol; comments need to chill on it, it was turned way down. only prob with this vid is how many times he repeats the group name.
For fuck sake! Just call them the patriots!
☝🏿🎯💯
Yes hes a villian. The man kidnaps and enslaves children and then makes them fights wars. That's pretty much the worst thing you can do. That's a step right beneath holocaust
just like armstrong! lol
Every time I head laleloulalou I wanted to blow my brains out
BEST ANTAGONIST
LA LI LU LE LO! What the hell are you talking about?
Man, Solidus must *_REALLY_* hate Article 13
You could've called them the Patriots
I'm very curious if you ever got into Zone of the Enders since you really adore Kojima's and Araki's mind.
oh yeah, im considering playing zone of the enders but i wanna know do i have to play both of the games to get the full story context or is it enough from the second game. i heard the first game was pretty subpar
I find it odd how they didnt have "vape snake/vapor snake." When i become a Green beret, God willing. Thatll be me.
Actually no villian in Metal Gear is really a villian
Killtrobal Vamp, Fatman, volgin,
^ skull face
But yeah on the whole you're generally right
I never really noticed how much Jim Houseman resembled what Solidus would have looked like in MGS1's codec artstyle.
Does no one realize that a lot of the "villains" in mgs aren't actually villains.
And the "good" guys aren't good guys neither
@@malik87breaker solid snake is good, raiden is good as well.
@@jmgonzales7701solid sure raiden is questionable but his heart is in the right place
whats questionable about raiden? also most villians in mgs are real villains even liquid and the other snakes are villains @@rajatariq8888
must be a work of an enemy stand.
#solidussnakedidnothingwrong
I have tons of Solidus fan canon
Solidus was a good guy.
Take a shot after every Lalilulelo
The background audio is just so terrible.
Liquids arm is as tuff as kojimas keyboard , cause both has been through the ringer.
Ocelot was a good guy so that leaves me with this question
Did Ocelot really betray Solidus or did they plan it?
ocelot liked torturing people so yeah not that much of a good guy
