Fairy Tail will always hold a special place in my heart. It was my first big anime, and without it, I probably wouldn’t have gotten into stuff like Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Black Clover, etc.
In mine, too. I allways saw scenes of it back then on youtube. And after I discovered the good old websites on which you could watch animes, I watched all episodes until the end of tenrou Island. And then weekly after the timeskip, when the series came back. I love Fairy Tail.
The first 3-4 episodes (don't remember) are kinda isolated stories just to introduce the different characters. From that moment on it will be arc after arc. Personaly, is one of my all time manga favorite, alonside with Naruto and Bleach.
Also to explain the Salamander part. Natsu’s nickname is Salamander because of his magic, so when Bora went around spreading rumors about being the “Salamander” Natsu figured it had to be someone who used the same magic as him so he guessed it was Igneel.
NGL Fairy Tail is one of my favorites. It's up there with Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece. Fairy Tail is more light hearted but that's why I like it too. Fair warning the first season is episodic. It's an introduction to the guild and guild life. But the seasons after are arcs. And it does have more serious plots, it's just the comedy is always there too.
I started Fairy Tail and finished it in one go and caught up with 100 Quest, so yeah maybe some people may not like it but it doesn't change the fact that it's an awesome and enjoyable show

This 1st episode is great! Love the part where Natsu leaves the city burning despite just showing he could have consumed all the flames and thus saved tens or hundreds of houses and civilian lives. My 2nd favorite moment is the "You wanted to join Fairy Tail right?" Yes, but how would you know. Literally the whole point was that Lucy kept quiet about which guild she wants to join and when she does mention it, Natsu is never there to hear it. This 1st episode is pretty good at presenting the type of plot consistency and "morality" that the show has as a whole.

Finish the Galuna Island arc (E11-20) and then decide if you wish to continue. That tends to be the make it or break it arc for a lot of people. === I'll be honest, the anime has a lot of issues with getting the stakes across sometimes thanks to censorship caused by constantly getting shortchanged by bad time slots even to this very day. I also saw that it was very popular, but I didn't feel like watching it because of the length of the episodes, but since you allowed yourself a chance to watch it, I will watch it with you. Two birds with one stone
I love this show, it has a very special place in my heart. I learn a lot in life watching this and I was a teen back then so I'm not really aware of the fanservice or the power of friendship thing. I remember enjoying the journey these character took and the fanservice for me was done in a funny way also I do enjoy power of friend ship thing yknow, and it's not like it's useless, it has reason it just require the friends or multiple people to do the job. I will say that this is best to be enjoyed with open mind because I see lots of people having mixed opinion about this. I will say give it until the galuna Island arc, see if you still want to continue or not. Thank you for reacting and I'm sorry if there are comments that is negative because of the show, I hope it doesn't discourage you or anything.
I think people will find reasons to hate anything. Fairy Tail doesn't deserve the hate. If someone hates Fairy Tail, you gotta wonder if the problem lies within them, rather than the show.
Same thing happened to me with one piece, I started the first episode and didn’t finish it. But then I gave it a fair chance and now I’m caught up and reading the manga. As for Fairy Tail, I loved it so much I watched it like three times and I’m also reading the manga, so I hope you like it.
In response to your question before watching; I had started watching Fairy Tail back in 2011ish with a roommate in Uni, and I continued watching it when we had moved apart. It's animation, writing quality, and fight choreography are generally inconsistent and not all that great, and as you mentioned, there is a lot of "power of friendship" and fan service stuff. But something that Fairy Tail does pull off well, that I did enjoy (and kept me watching) was the emotional highs during each arc. I tried re-watching the entire series about a year or two ago, and got up to a certain point, about half-way through the first arc after they had changed animation studios (I think that's what had happened) and the episode quality took such a huge dip that I couldn't continue re-watching from that point on. The episode recaps at the start of each episode started taking up roughly 5-8 minutes, and the episodes themselves were nothing to write home about (for me, at least). That all being said, I still genuinely really like the first 180ish or so episodes (I forget where the giant tournament arc ends). :)
Fairy tail is fun. If you going into one some complex storytelling then you're going to be disappointed but if you just going into it to see power of friendship and to have fun you going to like it.
Really? I'm on my 5th rewatch of Fairy Tail and each time i realize more and more how brilliantly it was written. The pace is efficient. Almost everything has deeper meanings, even down to their names. The plot is far more elaborate than one might think at first. Which is why i love it. Currently managed to even get my mother to watch it, and she usually hates anime, and yet loved Fairy Tail.
Fairy tail have his high and low, but overall its a good anime. Its succed at making you feel a lot of emotions. I really hope you will like it. If so, I’ll be here the whole ride for sure !!
Fairy tail was my first Big anime outside of the older ones like sailor moon and Pokémon That I grew up with. It’s by far one of my favorite anime. It’s one of those animes that get better along the way and more interesting and deep the longer you watch it. I think you will really enjoy this anime series.
Natsu is called salamander by people who dont know him, natsu doesn't know that tho. Natsu heard about a repile like fire user, so he thought it might be igneel, his adoptive father ( and a dragon )
Okay so a Salamander in mythology is a reptile with fire abilities. Salamanders are either shown as a lizard/salamander on fire or well fire dragons. It is also the spirit of the fire element. (Golems are earth, Undine are water and Sylfs are air spirits). In Frozen 2 you can see the little lizard having fire powers too. Natsu uses fire dragon slayer magic, aka the same magic a fire dragon has. So he is known as the Salamander of the Fairy Tail guild. Kinda a title he is known for. The dragon he looks for aka adoptive father Igneel IS a fire dragon. So that's why they both are named salamander.
i saw this and clicked. Instant sub. Look forward to seeing your reaction journey for FT. I would recommend the 3 episode rule. After the 3rd if you aren't vibing with it move on.
Regardless of what anyone says about this particular anime, i've always loved it was one of the ones that i started watching when I first started out with anime. Believe me. When I say you're in for a good ride
12:33 Problem with that is that some One Piece fans claim Fairy Tail copied it. But this is a lie and most of the comparisons are just common troupes and designs. But I imagine the characters in both shows would get along much better.
As someone who really enjoyed Fairy Tail and couldn't stand One Piece, I can't even wrap my head around how anyone could claim they're similar to the point of anyone copying anyone there :p
People hate on fairy tail but its so good its just a nice change from something like jjk attack on titan and anime like that just an anime you can sit back and laugh and there are some tear jerker moments
Fairy Tail is a very emotional light hearted series it has actions and conflict but the main theme of the series is making bonds with people and living your life to the fullest with others. Also Dub for this series is very good. If you want to continue watching this series in Sub that’s fine but the Dub does just as much justice if not more at times so I don’t think anyone who’s a fan of this series would mind
Firstly yes it does actually have arcs so don't give up too soon. Secondly i would suggest to watch till the phantom lord arc because most people who love the series agrees that's where they got hooked. Now interesting things to understand about the series thats not spoilers. 1) Fairy Tail is probably the shonen with the most female characters and even has a co-lead who is female, most shonen tends to have a clear male lead. 2) unlike series like Naruto, the females in Fairy Tail isn't weaker than the guys, has a variety of personalities, and interesting backstories. 3) The filler is less common than many older Anime, and most of the filler is funny and well written. 4) Most people who has watched other anime often comment on how well Fairy Tail is paced. Fights never lag forever and there is very little wasted time. Also interesting note, the writer of Fairy Tail said that he based the series on how his own circle of friends are and wanted an anime based on friendship.
I'm glad you're watching this series. The first few episodes are a bit tough to get too into as it's mainly setup for the world and how it works but give it some time and it's a really good anime with amazing fight sequences. The author was inspired by and friends with Oda and took heavy inspiration from One Piece especially with the art style but after time adopted his own style
I will say this show is not a harem (despite what Juvia thinks lol). The vibes are friends going on adventures and making enough money for rent and surviving your crazy guildmates. And then some plot also happens. The character writing is great and the ost is the best! Even the “filler” episodes are still fun. It’s a very cozy show in my opinion and the show has a lot of heart.
Despite the amount of fanservice if we are going to compare the biggest shounens Fairytail has the best female characters written the strongest the character developments the different things they are good at they have done justice for them and them being sexy doesn’t take that away and has some of the best main fights as well, and power of friendship actually makes sense and if you pay attention to the plot and story you’d notice it’s not even as much as people sh*t on it for, it has the best emotional pulls, the story line the entire world build up is some of the best and there’s no other anime imo that actually makes you feel like you’re actually a part of it and one of them, they actually make the audience feel involved in a way that there’s a place for you and you’re with them for the adventures. Fairytail will always be my favourite cause no other anime gave me the feeling it did
As a Fairy Tail lover, it's really ok for me if others didn't like the show or if it's not just for them. What I hate is how others make fun of the show as if being a fan of it makes you the worst criminal of all. They can have their opinion but they didn't have to slander the show that most people loved.
If my memory is not mistaken it starts as an episodic and introduces the main cast and the world and then gets to long arcs It has an overarching plot, but it's basically Natsu's search for his dragon (igeneel) and I appreciate that you give an older shows a chance and I hope you like it and also I think you would like one piece and the beginning of one piece is actually fun and the pacing not that bad in the beginning hope to see you react to it in the future
I will say a good checkpoints to determine how you feel about the show are either ep 30 ish or ep 48. I will admit fairytail has a rough start but once you get into the 20s it picks up. Like you said its not gonna be Shakespeare. Its got problems....but its just kinda fun overall.
Loved this show and still love it. One of the firsts anime I watched. This was my Naruto. In my humble opinion; I prefer the dub. It works extremely well with the first season and halfway through season 2. I switched to sub because it took some time to push the dubs out. Either way, I hope you enjoy the show!
Ooh no fairy tail has amazing arcs 💯 I feel like you should give it up to episode 40 ish because it’s one of my favorite beginnings arc that I think will make you fall in love with the show!! I know there’s fan service and humor but there’s def a plot here
YESSSIRRRR, FAIRY TAIL IS AMAZING DESPITE THE FLAW, I HOPE YOU CONTINUE WATCHING ITTT BUT BE AWARE OF FAN SERVICE AND POWER OF FRIENDSHIP (ITS ACTUALLY STATED TO BE POWER OF EMOTION IN EP 11) Also there is some sad moment, but don't expect character to die(there is but not much)
Here we go.. i know you would probably drop it. But Be yourself and Don't hold back during your reactions & commentary and tell us how you feel. You are the best (& funniest) reactor i have ever seen when you are not holding back yourself. Don't mind the hate comments. There are a lot of people that support you ❤️
Just a warning, there is a characters building filler arc later down the line of the series as like "a day in the life of 'x character'" it's pretty short. but the way it's situated in the grand story leads in great into the next arc very well. like it doesn't feel like filler, just.... a calm before the storm. but at the same time, that's what all the mini arcs in Fairy Tail does.
This is exciting. I found myself surprisingly liking Fairy Tail when I first watched. It was something of a guilty pleasure. I think it's actually very fun but has a few specific bad stretches. I had to give up when the "Jiggle Butt Gang" showed up (others will know what I refer to), but that wasn't until well past 100 episodes. So there's a lot of good fun stuff that's highly entertaining before things take unfortunate turns. I think the fan service isn't that bad and usually light hearted fun. Lucy is actually a great and appealing character, honestly more the main character than the male lead. Anyhow I think it's got some good heart and legitimately funny stuff except when it doesn't.
@ my memory is hazy but I think I did return to the series later and watched quite a few more, including some good arcs. As with Bleach, just because there’s a bad stretch doesn’t stop it from getting better again. I don’t think I knew the difference between filler and regular eps in those days. I also enjoyed the recent newest Fairy Tail sequence.
I think you will like Lucy her character development is very amazing! and the female cast are equal like the male cast , Hiro loves strong women! Fairy Tail has dual main characters Natsu & Lucy but Lucy is always on the readers' side, She also does Natsu´s job in Story narrating because the author said *Natsu doesn't have monologues, he couldn't do explanations to gain readers' empathy* The dub is also pretty good I watched both versions both is great the series overhated too much it doesn´t deserve the hate it gets , it has problems, But like any other shounen series, Nothing is perfect!
Fairy Tail is a very good, but very long series. It has great comedy, but when it's serious you feel it. I would also recommend Black Clover at some point!
Watch up to Episode sixty or so, there's like three arcs or so up to that point, it'll give you a decent idea of what's on offer with the show. If you like that dark tower arc or whatever it's called go from there, if not, well that's the time to quit. The flavor of the week stuff never really stops but it's kinda interspersed between broader arcs so it's a welcome addition to give certain character moments and flair. The author's the dude who did Rave Master and that was a pretty awesome show. I dunno, you'll probably like it.
I like the benchmarks of what Netflix had. It had the first 60ish episodes which covered like, 3 arcs? First dozen or so episodes doesnt have much "story" outside of introducing characters and setting first major arc in the ~20s with Phantom is a good benchmark to see if you want to keep watching second major arc with the Laxus games in the ~40s I think is the next benchmark to see if you like the show. Fairy Tail is very much a turn brain off and drool kind of show, one of my favorites. Love the main cast and their abilities
Fairy Tail will always hold a special place in my heart. It was my first big anime, and without it, I probably wouldn’t have gotten into stuff like Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Black Clover, etc.

To clarify further- a salamander is a fire dragon/lizard
The nickname is based on the fantasy creature-not the real life slimy amphibians
NGL Fairy Tail is one of my favorites. It's up there with Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece. Fairy Tail is more light hearted but that's why I like it too.

The episode recaps at the start of each episode started taking up roughly 5-8 minutes, and the episodes themselves were nothing to write home about (for me, at least). That all being said, I still genuinely really like the first 180ish or so episodes (I forget where the giant tournament arc ends). :)
my first time watching it in dub animax channel it's really great and funny too
I hope you love fairytail! This show makes me so happy
Massive W, this was one of my first anime and one of the most emotional for sure!
Hell yes!!! One of my favs!
Fairy tail have his high and low, but overall its a good anime. Its succed at making you feel a lot of emotions. I really hope you will like it. If so, I’ll be here the whole ride for sure !!
I HOPEEE YOU CONTINUE THIS, ITS MY FAVORITE ANIME ALL THE TIME!! ❤️👆🏻
Natsu heard about a repile like fire user, so he thought it might be igneel, his adoptive father ( and a dragon )
i’m not gonna lie the couple episodes feel like the whole “different villains every time” but after that there’s 10/10 arcs
Give it 3 arcs it picks up you'll love it
Ive got alot of love for this show.
So that's why they both are named salamander.
we are so back omg
i saw this and clicked.
Yes!!!! I'm so here for this!
Sniff sniff..... Man!
Best filler episode ever. 😂
@@horlickfamily7504 most horrifying zombie apocalypse imaginable 😂
Definitely going to keep up with this on Patreon and TH-cam depending on how well it does But I LOVE fairy tail !!!
I know there’s fan service and humor but there’s def a plot here
"This is where the fun begins."
YESSSIRRRR, FAIRY TAIL IS AMAZING DESPITE THE FLAW, I HOPE YOU CONTINUE WATCHING ITTT
BUT BE AWARE OF FAN SERVICE AND POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
(ITS ACTUALLY STATED TO BE POWER OF EMOTION IN EP 11)
Also there is some sad moment, but don't expect character to die(there is but not much)
Legendary anime series 🤩
Here we go.. i know you would probably drop it. But Be yourself and Don't hold back during your reactions & commentary and tell us how you feel. You are the best (& funniest) reactor i have ever seen when you are not holding back yourself. Don't mind the hate comments. There are a lot of people that support you ❤️
This will be a LOOOOONG journey, but I am sure you will like it.
Season 1 covers up to 48 episodes. I would recommend maybe that.
YESSSS!
The jiggle butt gang is a filler arc. Which means you never got to see the 3 best arcs of the series in my opinion.
Fairy Tail has dual main characters Natsu & Lucy but Lucy is always on the readers' side, She also does Natsu´s job in Story narrating because the author said *Natsu doesn't have monologues, he couldn't do explanations to gain readers' empathy*
The dub is also pretty good I watched both versions both is great
the series overhated too much it doesn´t deserve the hate it gets , it has problems, But like any other shounen series, Nothing is perfect!
lol like Erza mirajane lucy not so much
woahhh i didn't expect this
time to rewatch for the 100 time
I love Fairy Tail! I could totally see it not being your type of show (and if it isn’t feel free to drop it), but I hope you enjoy!
Either it is a like or dislike anime style, but for sure it is one of the best emotionally stimulating anime of all time :D
Ohhh the memories
The dub is amazing! Iconic voices
No, just no.
@piskipa wrong
Fairy Tail is a very good, but very long series. It has great comedy, but when it's serious you feel it.
I would also recommend Black Clover at some point!
It would be nice if you try Land of the Lustrous
I think first ten episodes is enough to see if you like it or hate it. But its has great characters and story❤
Always sub, dub will never be the same.
Just subscribed,,only to follow your fairy tail's journey..
True. I like one piece more but fairytail was my first show so it's a special place in my heart.
I like the benchmarks of what Netflix had. It had the first 60ish episodes which covered like, 3 arcs? First dozen or so episodes doesnt have much "story" outside of introducing characters and setting
first major arc in the ~20s with Phantom is a good benchmark to see if you want to keep watching
second major arc with the Laxus games in the ~40s I think is the next benchmark to see if you like the show.
Fairy Tail is very much a turn brain off and drool kind of show, one of my favorites. Love the main cast and their abilities
