Well done. Keeping it as original as you can has to be a good thing.

Were those seat covers made by Grant in Tamworth New South Wales?

Yes they were. I am not sure if he still does them but they were excellent quality at a decent price

Nicely done. Thanks for showing your LR. I have a FFR and a GS that I had shipped to Hawaii almost two years ago. Look forward to seeing more of your modifications.

Great work. Any suggestions on how to install the felt window slides? I can't see how to get the window top apart. I see you got rid of the extra battery. Or have you relocated it to run the fridge?

Sorry for the late reply. the felt installs fairly easily once the window is part. You can use hot soapy water to make them more pliable. It was a while a go when I did the window top. I believe taking the window lock out which is easy. There are a few retaining screws. some of these were hard to get out. I moved the battery from under the passengers seat to LHS battery compartment. This allowed for it to be next to the aux. battery, easier charging and allowed me to use under the passengers seat for tools.

Thank you, I will talk to Brad from KLR to see if he still has some.

Yes, the only two windows on the perenties, the sliding glass, it rattles a lot and I have not been able to find the plastic channels and felts that make the glass more stable.
I am trying to find out more about the oil change to the steering box, I think that it is imperative to do this regularly. I began to suspect that perhaps the reason for the recent Land Rover crash in Qld may have something to do with a possible steering failure, it went into a lake or something like that unexpectedly, it was a family travelling in that car, so the man would not be attempting to kill his own family just like that.
There has to be more to it. Maybe mechanical failure.

I got my felts from KLR. They were very easy to install and I think cost about $70 and I now have no window rattles.

I believe the crash was caused by the steering 'tie bar' breaking. The older style ones fitted to most Perenties have two slots in them where the bolts go, the newer and much stronger ones do not have the slots. Look up part number LR041261. If your Perentie / Defender does not have material all the way around where the bolt holes are then get one of these and change it over. I would find a genuine LR one at a wrecker, don't get Britpart.

Hi, where do you get the window seals and channels for your Perentie, please? Do you do oil changes to the steering box?

do you mean the glass door sliding windows? I have not done an oil change to the steering box. I will put it on my list of things to check next service though.

where did you get the window felt slides?

From KLR. They were really good and quick to install. I put them in hit soapy water before which made it a lot easier to do. I am more than happy with the result. No rattles anymore.

How did you get a GS tailgate on an FFR? Is that rear panel removable?

Yeah it comes out fairly easy. An easy install overall. You just need to replace the corner capping pieces.
