I remember in the early days of guitar youtube when I was trying to break through the final "beginner wall" and take my playing to the next level, guys like Marty, Justin guitar, Texasbluesalley and Rockongoodpeople were there to help. Cool to see Marty (and all the rest) still making an impact on players to this day!
This man taught me how to play guitar for years & by chance I got to meet him & let him play my guitar for nearly an hour!! Even gave me a badass Fedora 🎉
Marty taught me, a 44 year old beginner (at the time) in 2015 how to play so many songs. My first guitar song I learned from one of his videos, Everlong. I didn't even know what Drop D was. Playing power chords with one finger, being a beginner opened the door. I was hooked after that, just stayed on Marty's channel for months.
You extract the sweetest juice out of the music, honouring and respecting the players that made it. Music is personal, emotional, and by connecting all these you're giving that element to all your videos. That make you guys great... Thanks Rhett, Thanks Marty
Ah man this makes me happy. Marty looks so great and is just such a lovely soul! I've been playing just over ten years now! I'm in an awesome band and its all because of Marty helping me!!
As I posted on Marty’s channel earlier today, you two are not only great guitarists but great teachers. I’ve learned so much from both of your guys videos and courses. Thanks, much respect to the both of you gentlemen.
Maan, im really happy you invited that guy, hes realpy cool, and man, i thowgt hendrixs Style was so more complicated... Thanks for this video man, seriously!!
The foam covered microphones were at the concert in Maui filmed for the movie Rainbow Bridge. The wind was so bad that most of the drum recordings were unusable. Mitch Mitchell reproduced them in the studio mostly in the one take just by watching his performances back, which is pretty incredible when you consider how improvisational his playing was. But then he was an incredible drummer - Hendrix was always going to be a star but the Experience was really a product of Hendrix and Mitchell's musical relationship.
Been a fan for a while. Watched Marty's video. I know you mentioned how great your new camera is in low light and right you are. What a difference. Keep up the great work to both of you.
Yeah, he and Justin guitar were instrumental (ha) in my guitar playing back in the late 2000s and early 2010s it's nice to see him still doing his thing, man.
Yeah, I remember being 15 and having the Little Wing tabs printed out from the internet. It clicked to me what he was doing and I learned how to use those little double stops and hamer ons all over the neck.
Wow, nice. I'm new to guitar, 3 weeks now, and o find this way helpful. Thanks. Also want to say thanks for Rick B. and YOU for being the driving force and encouragement to finally go buy a Tele and start my education in guitar. THANKS. Been watching for a year.
I lived in NYC late 80’s early 90’s…. There were bars and restaurants everywhere with live bands playing tunes. You guys remind me of that time. Keep on keepin on 🤘🏻
After many years of thinking I'd never get good at playing because of my wider shaped fingers I ran across one of Marty's videos and noticed he had similar shaped hands, and that gave me the incentive to start playing again. My playing is still well below par, but I'm slowly getting better. Many thanks Marty! I watch yours and Rhett's videos regularly. Thanks guys.
I learned so much from Marty as a teenager, when he was just starting out as one of the few guitar lesson channels on TH-cam. Pre-Google ownership, too! Great to see him and Rhett together - Rhett's channel is always worth a watch. Something I'd love to get Rhett's take on - it does really get discussed that much - is where he reckons Hendrix would have gone if he hadn't passed. I've always thought he'd explore fusion in the manner of Miles' Big Fun period.
I love Marty. I've been playing for over 30 years, but still use Marty when I'm lazy and don't wanna learn new songs on my own. I used to get so geeked when Marty would like my comments. I've told so many new players to watch Marty and Steve Stine and they'll learn everything they need to be a good player.
Marty has been my go-to for songs and lessons. Both these cats are clear and so helpful on this musical journey. I Love your new logo Rhett. Nice find, to the creator. 🤙🤙
Great vid guys! I started out new and green with Marty.Hundreds of hours of vids. I was also blown away the first time I heard one of Rhett's slide videos!
That was a blast! We were so cheated not being able to see Jimi live long. Imagine him playing with people such as, but not limited to, Ringo's band, Dweezil, or Les Claypool.
Nice!!!! You done got that Marty bump! Good for you, Rhett! Awesome to see you both providing us with great content! I’ve learned a ton from you both over the past couple years! 🤘👊🤘
Watched Marty for sometime now. Learned several things (Tom Petty) from his channel. Thanks for all the guest appearances you do on your channel. They are fun!
The "foam rubber" Hendrix show was for the Rainbow Bridge film; the band was playing in a pasture near Makawao, Hawaii, which coincidentally in the 1970s became the home base of Mister Mick Fleetwood for many years
Around 2010 when I got SUPER serious about playing guitar I would watch and listen to many guitar videos on TH-cam and Marty’s videos came up on every search because he was one of the first popular guys making guitar instructional videos. It’s great that he’s still doing it but I gotta say I haven’t seen his videos come up in a while.
So many Hendrix sounds, seemed impossible..and I tried to figure out so many of them.. But for me, in or about 1972 or 73 , I got a copy of him playing Johnny B. Goode at Berkeley..(I think it was Hendrix in the West, but not sure). And the sound of his strat was amazing on that song. And wiggle bar at the end, was something I had never heard.. It sounded like a monster evil horse or something... and I just could not believe what he could do with the guitar..
I never wanted to go profesional or get famous, I just love music and the feeling of creating tones on my guitars. 🥰 I love videos like this one. Cheers, guys and gals! 🙋🏼♂️

Same here man... Like Rhett said, they are the OG's!
I remember Sandercoe getting flak for talking too much during his lessons...He and Marty were a big help.
Rockongoodpeople! ❤️
or Papastache now named brett papa
Scott Groves helped me a lot as well. Unfortunately his personality causes him to be one of the forgotten original TH-cam guitar channels
This man taught me how to play guitar for years & by chance I got to meet him & let him play my guitar for nearly an hour!! Even gave me a badass Fedora 🎉
Marty taught me the basics, what an absolute lad. Probably the most consistent guitar youtuber out there.
Marty and Justin!
he xan barely play. he is struggling to play this little lick cleanly. he is so sloppy.

Need to pay my respects to Marty. He’s what started my guitar journey!
❤ So great to see Marty on your channel ! He did a great job teaching almost everbody and he is not flexing which is kind of relaxing ;)
Marty is a legend! I met him at a recording studio in San Diego years ago. Total sweetheart of a man.
Marty is what you call a “solid” human being 💪🏻
You extract the sweetest juice out of the music, honouring and respecting the players that made it.
Music is personal, emotional, and by connecting all these you're giving that element to all your videos.
That make you guys great...
Thanks Rhett, Thanks Marty
Marty, you are a legend! I cannot tell you how many songs you have helped me work out! You are a great teacher.
I love Marty's energy. So encouraging and sweet. And he doesn't waste your time, just gets right into it, which I really appreciate.
There are generations of people who Marty has taught here on TH-cam. What a legend. Our favourite guitar teacher!
Jimmy knew the shit that messes with the mind! He knew how to hit the spot!
Marty color coordinated his shirt, hat and guitar. What a legend.
Marty is getting GREY, and looks like a cool old Blues player 😎
Truly badass.....
Man I’ve watched so many of Marty’s videos over the years. Much respect
Ah man this makes me happy. Marty looks so great and is just such a lovely soul! I've been playing just over ten years now! I'm in an awesome band and its all because of Marty helping me!!
Love Marty! He keeps it real for those of us that just like to learn and play. He makes me feel like the guitar in my hand is all I need
I think Harrison was quite proud of the opening chord he came up with for Hard Days Night basically an F maj add 9 same chord as wing but in 1964
As I posted on Marty’s channel earlier today, you two are not only great guitarists but great teachers. I’ve learned so much from both of your guys videos and courses. Thanks, much respect to the both of you gentlemen.
Thats 100% true!
I play gigs for money to pay my bills.
I use and learn a lot if stuff from those two guys.
Marty literally taught me guitar. Such a great resource for beginners.
Maan, im really happy you invited that guy, hes realpy cool, and man, i thowgt hendrixs Style was so more complicated... Thanks for this video man, seriously!!

You’re right about Marty being the OG guitar guy-he was one of my first online guitar “teachers.” Great to see him on your channel!
Yeah, he and Justin guitar were instrumental (ha) in my guitar playing back in the late 2000s and early 2010s it's nice to see him still doing his thing, man.
You guys are both legends, it's great to see you guys jamming and discusing music together
👍🏻🍻
I LOVE that you partnered with the Schwartzinator!!!
Thank you both!
Yeah, I remember being 15 and having the Little Wing tabs printed out from the internet. It clicked to me what he was doing and I learned how to use those little double stops and hamer ons all over the neck.

Welcome to the rabbit hole.
My two favorite youtube guitar influences. Great to see the two of you together... more please.
That hammer on device is actually REALLY a staple of COUNTRY music … blended into the blues… SO SWEET! Hendrix, a “fusion” player!
I have only watched 4 minutes of this video so far and have learned and retained something. The power of Marty Schwartz.
Thanks for sharing Rhett & Marty. I’d love to see more riff/lick & in-the-style of type videos like this.
Rhett, your tone sounds incredible
I lived in NYC late 80’s early 90’s…. There were bars and restaurants everywhere with live bands playing tunes. You guys remind me of that time. Keep on keepin on 🤘🏻
Love seeing these 2 together
Two guitar technicians nerding out. Cool thing to watch.
Love you guys together! This was a fun one.

The moment that first Eminor example played... Beatles - Don't Let Me Down
You two are great and greater together. Thanks
If it wasn't for Marty Schwartz, i would not be here today. 10 Years ago he helped me to learn the Guitar and its so nice to see him
THE REAL LEGEND! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 much love to you, Marty. Wouldn’t have a job without you
I love seeing the back of the Dan Fogelberg album Captured Angel on the bottom shelf. One of my favorites!
Nice picture of Dan Fogelberg in the background…vintage 1975, Captured Angel….great discussion by you both!
Life changing video for me!! Thanks for the great description of that Hendrix pentatonic lick and the beautiful G9 chord that moves up and down
been subscribed to both of you, great to see this collab
I was considering learning Hendrix theory earlier today and then I see this video. Literally couldn’t have came out at a better time

I watched this 3x in a row. This is how to hang with players. Great lesson
I love Marty. I've been playing for over 30 years, but still use Marty when I'm lazy and don't wanna learn new songs on my own. I used to get so geeked when Marty would like my comments. You guys, playing Hendrix on two Les Pauls...the audacity of this blows me mind while I'm sitting here with my Jazzmaster
The top on Rhett's Paul is disturbingly nice... I am reporting for the safety of others.😇
Two of my favourite players together, great video guys.
The "foam rubber" Hendrix show was for the Rainbow Bridge film; the band was playing in a pasture near Makawao, Hawaii, which coincidentally in the 1970s became the home base of Mister Mick Fleetwood for many years
Anyone noticed Martys shirt and head matching perfectely to the top of his Les Paul? Marty is anyhow not only a teaching icon also a style icon ....
Good stuff. Enjoy listening to you two guys👍🏼👍🏼
damn do i love these two genuine souls, both of who i owe my love for guitar. keep doing what you’re doing legends

Legend.
Made me happy to see Foghat and Fogelberg albums in the background. :-)
Two of my biggest inspirations to starting my channel and getting back into guitar! Love you both!
Hung with Marty today..he's the best...
Rhett, I love when you play Little Wing. It sounds so good, dude
So many Hendrix sounds, seemed impossible..and I tried to figure out so many of them.. But for me, in or about 1972 or 73 , I got a copy of him playing Johnny B. Cheers, guys and gals! 🙋🏼♂️
That was awesome, so I'm going to watch it again.
Dang, Marty is looking good. I saw Hendrix when I was 7 in Maui. Cool days
I just dug in my mess and found a Marty Schwartz DVD that I ordered many years ago , what a time. 😍
Have this saved going to need to digest this. Love this, helped takes some mystery out
Marty and Carl brown taught me how to play love both of them
4:01 here is the key of the Fat old Sun solo on Remember that Night. Gilmour got a lot of Hendrix influence
Look how well coordinated Marty's look is: hat, shirt, axe!
@7:30 The foam on the Microphone was when Jimi played Hawaii. It probably was windy that day.
Ding ding ding! Truth at 6:42... Lets not forget he created all those licks as a very young man..
Been watching Marty for many many many years now ✌🏻🎸🎶
Awesome!! Thank you so much...
Marty was a big part of my childhood, I owe a lot to him and his lessons. A living legend!
@Allie2587 Report this BOT. It's on almost every comment here.
great video thanks for posting
A second mic was often used to record when they were figuring out how to do louder rock shows while filming and recording the audio.
Marty is my favorite
