Never dropped a DB or barbell in my 60-year old life, but the point is glaring. The REP Fitness engineering here is SUPERB, but my my fellows, you're giving this geezer heart pains!
I never did either, until I did. Stuff happens, especially when you are pushing your limits. Thankfully my Powerblocks handled it just fine, as they did here as well until they were higher than anybody is realistically going to drop them from. Would not recommend it though.
I agree, Zaine. I'm 67, and was taught back in the 70's that if you can't hang on through the whole movement, you've got too much weight on (except for Olympic lifts). Barbells, plates and even fixed dumbbells can break with enough abuse.
Great video. I have a pair of Nuobells. One of them failed after less than a year without dropping - just regular wear and tear. Their warranty replacement is terrible... they will definitely be replaced by the Quickdraw.
Nuobell is absolute junk. Even if you don't drop them they will fail eventually because they use tiny plastic cam followers to move the rods in and out. And when they do inevitably fail you can't fix them, you have to buy a whole new handle. Ridiculous for something that expensive.
Forget dropping them, I used to have a set of Bowflex 1090s that broke a retainer disc just from doing French Press and putting all that stress onto the disc. I'm surprised it lasted any sort of drop.
Love my Rep equipment: PR4000, Colorado bar, lat pull down, AB-5000. THAT BEING SAID the best adjustable DBs are Ironmaster. Those will outlive me. These look pretty good though.
might have to sell my current adjustables to make room for these. Please consider adding a quickdraw specific waist high storage rack in addition to the cradle to the lineup as well for bent over work. oh yea...white color numbering on the cradle would be nice too. good job on these REP...I like these a lot! I'm going to wait and hope for a 5lb->100+lb version hopefully with the same or better durability which will be hard when adding more weight/length.
I love Rep fitness but it looked to me that the power block was still working. No test was done to check if it still worked, only a plate popped off the lock.
No, a plate was broken, they aren't supposed to flop around like that. Still did better than I expected though. Not made to be dropped but can still survive most all accidental drops.

Can I do deadlifts and squats without the brackets rubbing against my legs? I like to do them with the dumbbells as close to my legs as possible. Are these weight-balanced so that the brackets are always facing downwards, or can I turn the handle so the brackets can face outwards? Powerblocks have this problem.

Did the powerblock pin break it just pop out? Anyways, people always say powerblocks are indestructible - they definitely are not - just durable enough for some low emergency bailouts
Wow nice. Wish this existed when I was in the market for one so I could get it along with a lot of other Rep equipment - but maybe I'll get this in the future. Been happy with my 90pro powerblocks so at least I didn't choose wrong back then :D
