  • In this video, I hit on the 6 things you need to have and know about your Thunder Laser before it arrives. We go through the whole install process, but feature the things you have to do before you can fully set the machine up. Things to have that Thunder Laser doesn't send with the kits. If you know some things that I left out, please let me know in the comments.

    Thunder USA needs to get their act together. Thunder South Africa delivered my Nova 51, split it to get it into my office, re-assembled the machine, did the whole installation, set it up in lightburn with a license for the first year and then after checking the laser alignment, gave me 4 hrs of training on the spot. The only thing I had to do was provide the hole for the exhaust fan. They even brought the water for the chiller, a sheet of 3mm black and clear acrylic each , a self inking stamp and stamp rubber, 2 sheets of 3mm MDF, a sheet off brushed gold on black and a sheet of white on black. That's what you should get when you spend this much money on a machine.

    Great tips! One thing I'd suggest is moving the exhaust fan as close to the outlet as possible, and reduce any unnecessary 90* bends. You want to create as much "pull" as you can to optimize the exhaust.

    This is super helpful. I have been looking to upgrade my Glowforge and things like knowing about the electrical needs is good to know ahead of time.

    I was told to go down in size, you should use duct tape to make that seal. I found that using a clamp immediately put holes in my hose when I tried to put it on my similar style vent.

      I just had to be careful. But I didnt make any holes. You def could though.

    Good Video. BUT, you should always have multiple fire extinguishers, make sure you use the Halon type not the powder kind. Halon is expensive but when (not if) you have a fire the Halon won’t damage the machine.

    This video is exactly what I needed to prepare thanks! I am trying to decide between the Nova 51 & 63 making a final decision in the next few days any thoughts on choosing one vs the other? I'm curious why you went with a 6" wall vent vs 8"? Appreciate it.

    • @Statedwoods
      @Statedwoods  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I went with 51 because of size. If you have the room, always go bigger. You cant really find 8 inch vents anywhere

      @@Statedwoods Thanks for your feedback I am going with the 63 then! Ok got ya I thought you may have chose a 6" vent for a particular reason. I found a few 8" options on Amazon.

    Great set-up video. Is there something you should do if you accidentally touch the laser tube to get off any potential finger prints? It also looks like you have a lubricator on your filter system...I am assuming you have no oil in there. If not, what is it being used for. Thanks.

    • @Statedwoods
      @Statedwoods  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I would just use a dry cloth to barely remover any oil or finger prints from touching the tube. I have an oiler in line on my system but nothing in it. It doesnt do anything on my setup. If i used pneumatic tools more I would have oil in it.

      @@Statedwoods Makes sense. I like that set-up you have and might do a piggyback to have two filters. Thunder Laser shows a really cheap double-filter unit you can get on Amazon but I paid too much for my laser to put a $25 filter on it.

    This is a great video for those that don't know how to set up their machine. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't thing it matters if you touch the outer tube??

    • @Statedwoods

      Treat it like a fluorescent tube. Oil from skin and create hot spots and lead to burn out.

    Nice video, but please put stereo sound when your talking. It's annoying to have stereo music but mono when your talking when your wearing headphones. And why have the audio change from left to right channel?

      Very nit picky. His presentation was just fine

    • @1987gnXtreme

      I never said it wasn't good information, I just said it was annoying having the sound go from right channel to left side. I'm sure it would be fine if you were listening with normal speakers, but when you use headphones it's very annoying.
