Prism II, having both is always a plus. But you do not need them both, but with Prism II you will need the USB LINK 2 as the communication "modem" between the computer and the controller.
Yes, the newer Watt Master’s have a little digital screen. If you look in there, you can see what the address is for that controller you’re connected to. Then match the handheld and it should work. If not, if you’re older handheld has not been updated you may have to update the firmware on the handheld in order for it to work. Hope that helps.
Great information, Funny when you said connect to older television I was thinking of the television I grew up on that had vacuum tubes. Don’t think you were born yet a different reference of the meaning of older television
Wait... So you can use a laptop with Prism 2 in place of the modular service tool? Is there any benefit in using the service tool over Prism? I'm assuming you still need the CommLink 5 or USB Link 2 to bridge the communication between laptop and controller? Sorry for all the questions 2 years later... we're trying to figure out how necessary purchasing these overpriced service tools is
I prefer to use the software. Prism 2. As far as I know there is no difference. The service tool is just easier for any technician to use they don’t need laptop skills or a usb dongle. Yes you need to purchase an USB interface. If you have any further questions you can always DM me on Instagram. IG: ProfessorButler08
The Handheld Service Tool SD is really nice to have when you update modules such as the MHGRV-X, ModgasX, RSMD, RSMV, etc. If you use PrismII to update a module, you have to pass the software update through the main controller, which slows down the process considerably. It may take 15 minutes or more to update a module using PrismII. Having said that, PrismII is way easier to use once you have it set up and understand how to use it. If you have internet access through a hotspot or network, Controls Support can dial in to your computer and see exactly what's going on with your unit.
Its possilbe it will act like a bad comms port and will not connect. You want to always disconnect the loop comm wire when trying to communicate to a single unit.
When working with a VCMX AaonWatt Master board, you need to disconnect the communication link before connecting a handheld or laptop service tool to avoid communication conflicts. The service tool requires direct access to the controller without interference from other devices on the network. This ensures accurate data reading and programming without any interruptions or errors
At the comms loop port you need to check you comms driver chip. Check with a meter DC volts from T-SH, and R-SH. You should get roughly 2.5-2.8vdc on each. If you get anything way over or under you need to replace the comms driver chip - LT1785 chip usually found on the top left corner for the boards... (8 leg chip) This does not guarantee it will comm but this is a problem, you may still have a bad comm port.
Great information question if I download the Prius 2 to my laptop I don't need to get the hand hell to diagnostic the unit ?

you don’t need the handheld, but you have to buy a USB module that plugs into your computer that interfaces with the unit
The Board is a newer version. Won't connect. It doesn't have those dip switches for address

Please put up more videos on Aaon the school district in which I work at has over 50 of them and outside of the simple stuff they are a real bear.
Will do. Anything in particular? I know them pretty well.
Just complete walk through of the sequence of operation of a general dehumidification aaon unit.
Can you do a video on starting an Aaon with the handheld device?
Darthtimot thanks for the idea. I’ll add it to the list of video ideas.

What happens if i dont disconnect the wires off of the green connector while my hand held tool is plugged in?

Can you add overrides through the handheld device?
Yes you can. There is a specific menu for overrides.
I guess youn didn't upload more in depth aaon unit videos
I dont always work on AAons but when i do i will record some footage. Thanks for watching
Wow
Excellent video. Great knowledge. Keep them coming
