    Jesus is not only releasing the demons from her, he is healing the emotional wounds and fears that began in childhood. Mary tells her father she's scared but she cannot articulate why. She has a sense of foreboding and of course her father then dies and leaves her alone in the world. Men have abandoned her and abused her until Jesus, like a loving father, receives her as her grief and wounds are melted away. It's a scene unlike any I have ever watched on film honestly.

    When Jesus says "Thus says the Lord who created you", and the bell is heard, I understood that as Mary being shocked to her core by the reality that she is seeing the God who created her standing before her. I think that when anyone has a encounter with God, they can never be the same. You can go to church your whole life, and say you believe in God, but when you encounter Him personally, everything suddenly becomes real, and changes you forever.

      Straight up out of Isaiah 43...
      1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
      And He who formed you, O Israel:
      “Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
      I have called you by your name;
      You are Mine.
      2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
      And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
      When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
      Nor shall the flame scorch you.
      3 For I am the LORD your God,
      The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
      I gave Egypt for your ransom,
      Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
      4 Since you were precious in My sight,
      You have been honored,
      And I have loved you;

      Dallas Jenkins definitely will give as much support as I can. The fact that this is crowd funded is an even greater blessing and I truly believe that God has sent you and everyone working on this project for a very GREAT work in these last days of time. My desire to be closer to Jesus has been largely effected by this show over the past few days and we will be praying for God to continue to use this project to absolutely change lives. Not only has it helped me realize the depth of the love of Christ, but it has truly helped me to be more Christ like on a daily basis. The Holy Spirit is present in this series unlike any other series I’ve ever seen. And I believe that God will truly bless you all for your work, and he will surely bring season 2 to the world soon. And until then, I will likely continue to rewatch season 1! I look forward to seeing you all in the kingdom with our wonderful Lord and Savior. God bless you, everyone involved, and everyone else

    From the first time I saw this scene a year ago until now... every time... it brings tears. As a 45 year old man who battled alcoholism and mental illness for many years, this hits deep. Then, when Mary leaves and returns with Matthew and Andrew... again, the tears.
    December 29, 2015 was my last drink. The start of my rehabilitation. The rebirth of my life with God as the foundation. I was baptized on 9.23.18 because I truly believe that Jesus is my "in between".
    Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making this show. I can now tell people "This really is how it feels." And they can somewhat relate.

      Thanks, Paul, for this comment. I need to share this: I have watched this whole season 5 or 6 times, never stopping to drink in of this scene. [I bought the DVD] and this time watching Dallas dissecting it, (Oh it is glorious!!) I am thoroughly overwhelmed with His Light revealing to me that what He did for her is what I need, due to my history of decades in which the devil attempted to destroy me with church-cult-lies, childhood neglect, sexual abuse, and 4 abusive marriages. I used to be, at age 12 or so, fascinated with self harm. I never did it, due to waking to the reality of what cutting really does, (I won't mention what that adversary worked to try to get me to do to myself). Thank you for this opportunity to reply.

      Wow.brilliant execution.even if u weren't explaining so much, the show speaks for itself. But it's good u are explaining the details. Coz many traditional and religious people can't take it. I personally believe that Jesus is super cool super funny, I am also falling in love with your direction. Tat already happened tho. Have watched season one so many times. I felt like I am Mary Of Magdala or the Samaritan women. You are very keen and you have a very different insight. It's brilliant. If I weren't a nurse, I wud have been an actor playing some character in The Chosen. Just kidding.. I know it's tough.I don't know ABC of acting.. just saying.. Tat much I am addicted to this series. Tat much I love it.. Love all characters.. Love you all The Chosen team. Waiting for season 2.

My two sons are currently in need of a touch like this from the Master of the Universe. You are doing great work. Jonathan is by far the best portrayal of what I feel a would be Jesus. Jim Carviezel in the Passion of the Christ was good but Roumie is beyond superb.

      Definitely agree with you Mary Ann on all accounts! I must say this is the very best casting I have ever seen for Jesus, I wonder if there has not been an intentional release of the Holy Spirit “for such a time as this”. We know that our world at this time definitely needs a “special touch from Jesus”, as Dallas said “ to know that Jesus wants to meet us where we are”. Being aware of how the Holy Spirit moves has to cause a stir when you see and hear the response from the viewers across the world! To hear almost everyone say they were in tears at least once in each episode is evidence I believe, to the work of the Holy Spirit that can touch and reach people where they need it most in their individual lives. Dallas is a phenomenal director, his passion is palatable and sincere! I can’t say enough good things about every episode I’ve seen. I saw the pilot episode on Christmas Eve at CC of Philly, as I watched I was taken to Nazareth and became more than a spectator, I felt the shepherds’ pain and his joy as he was introduced to the Savior and King of our world! His healing was emotional and portrayed in a perfect setting, as if while running his old life of disappointments, abuse and loneliness were healed and gone by the encounter with the “newborn King of the world”! I recommend that if you have seen and been touched by viewing these episodes that you support as you are able and share with as many as possible! God will surely touch those in need with his forgiveness and offer of eternal life! Can’t wait for Season 2!

    In this behind the scenes vlog, Dallas explains that every scene of a show is planned with the last scene in mind. He and his team plan a season or a show by asking "Where do we want it to end?" Then they plan things backwards from the desired ending effect and impact.
    It occurred to me that God works this way too! He knows where He wants us to end up, so He plans things in our lives to get us there. Sometimes it is slow, sometimes it is painful, and sometimes it doesn't make sense to us. But if we can remember that God can see the end and we can't yet, it can help us to trust Him.
    I read this scripture verse recently:
    "But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things."
    2 Nephi 2:23
    Thanks Dallas and The Chosen Team for a great object lesson on how God works!💜

    The last scene in episode 1 had me in tears, & it overwhelmed me powerfully! It was as if Christ spoke to me Isaiah 43, & I rested upon His chest. 💝😢 Jesus was also letting her know that He has been with her from the beginning. Mary’s earthly father spoke Isaiah 43 to her, as a young girl when she couldn’t sleep & she was afraid. As in the beginning of the episode. Powerful!!!! 🙌🙌🙌

      Susan Carpenter
      Yeah, and it was the scripture she had kept hidden in her doll all those years. She had finally given up on the words of her father...the words of God; torn to shreds and thrown to the wind, over the cliff to the crashing water below...
      ...and then this man...calls her by her little-girl name...and speaks those shredded words long hidden in her doll, now lost to the wind...with a gentle yet authoritative voice just like her father...
      Words and memories of an ill human father, become the strong, healing words from the living Father of her soul!
      For her, the Word literally became flesh and stood before her!!

    The use of the dove at the cliff shook me. I always go out to my back patio and contemplate the Lord. Thanking Him for the peace at this time and I would begin a conversation, albeit, a seemingly one-way conversation. Then I would be silent, so as to listen in my spirit. A long silence, expectation and more silence would start to demoralize me.... then a dove would do a slow fly by, and circle in my view.... and tears would burst from my eyes. In the past year, I have seen more doves in my presence and I realized, the Holy Spirit is near. I have many pictures of this now and I feel so blessed that you are using the Dove to convey that something special is going on. God Bless you all at the Chosen.... you Bell Ringers.

      @@Kamil-ni3gq I'm not sure it's disobedience per se... perhaps holding on to personal idols? Or... a lack of faith to make the leap? Re watchng the series from the beginning... and the interactions of a strong and worldly wife (makeup, fine clothes, a position of stature/status that she does NOT want to give up... and she pressures Nicodemus in so many ways, and overcomes his earnest search for truth... and he can't/won't give that up.
      Yes, so heartbreaking... because it touches so close to each of us. Are WE willing to give it all up and come, follow Him?

A dove is a hugely important animal to me that God has used to calm, encourage, heal, give me confirmation, whether I'm off to an important meeting & I'm praying about it & I go to my car & a single dove will be perched on a wire just over my car. Incredible & when I/He found my latest home, I looked out my bedroom window & a dove was sitting in a tree 3 ft from my windown just looking at me. The Holy Spirit is so very real & crucial in my life, so I was hoping it was a dove that gently led Mary away from the clifff. I tear everytime. Hes led me away from many cliffs.🕊🕊🕊🕊

    Hi, The Chosen Team! EP8 “Invitations” and Nicodemus’ meet up with Jesus and the other disciples was so impactful to me. The way Nicodemus reacted and how Jesus looked in response ripped me up inside. All I can say without spoiling it for others is that the love of the Savior and the longing He has for us amazing. He really invites us and leaves the door open for “...whosoever will...”. Father, I pray in Christ Jesus name for all those that come across this page, The Chosen app, any of Dallas’ vlogs, actor interviews or behind the scenes work, that the palpable presence and blessing of Holy Spirit be evident, touching the “inner man”. I pray that Jesus be lifted up at all times; that You would draw all men; that we would be strong and courageous to fish so that ‘[you can] sort them out later’. Many of us love this show. Help us honor Your gospel and support for Your Kingdom’s sake. You are so worthy of all glory, honor and praise. Amen.

    The ending rocked me to my core. I was about to leave God & thought we had enough of each other. I decided to take 1 last stand, do a 21 day Daniel fast and quit the alcohol every night. I left 3 windows on my phone open during my fast. 1 for the book of Psalms, the 4 gospels, and the other for the book of Isaiah to read everyday and seek Gods face during the fast. On day 8&9 I started getting short clips of season 2 & decided not to watch any spoilers but to start the series the following day. The next day, I “happened” to be at Isaiah 43 and read “But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine”. I took a snapshot of it and wrote down in my fasting journal that I finally feel forgiven after all this time. I hadn’t read the bible in a while and didn’t know this was a scripture. The same evening I decide to check out this show The Chosen. Jesus puts his hand on her alcohol and says ‘this is not for you’. Shot me right up eyes wide open. Then he starts following her and the bell rang, and quoting the same scripture I snapshot just hours earlier that day. It felt so personal it brought me right to my knees. I locked myself in the room crying watching it over and over in awe that God confirmed His Word to me like that.

    So I've finished watching season 1 and I am absolutely amazed by how it touches the soul so deep. I really liked the fact that Jesus wasn't portrayed like a distant figure that humans could never reach, but it showed the true meaning of divinity knowing humanity in it's humble form. I have so many favorite scenes, from the miracle of the fish to the healing of Dasha, but I have to say that I was so touched by the scene in which Nicodemus aknowledges the true nature of Jesus; it's like a veil has been lifted . After chasing God through rituals and rules and readings that never end, Nicodemus found the beautitude of being in His presence ,,I don't know anything except I am standing on holy ground..holy roof anyway". That scene just wrecked me emotionally. So simple yet every detail has it's own meaning.I can't wait for season 2!!!
