That was one of my favorite scenes when Mary goes into the tent where Jesus is after she relapsed I felt like that was me entering the tent so ashamed and embarrassed that was me. I’m glad they had that scene. It honestly felt like Jesus said, “I forgive you” to me. Just so grateful to Jesus for forgiving me over and over.

I saw an interview with Jonathan Roumie and he answered the question about what makes the show so special with two words......"Holy Spirit." This show is covered in a dome of light, love, spirituality and I believe is sanctified. These are people acting but once the show airs it is no longer them....God lays his hand on this series. This is definitely HIS project and he is working through everyone involved no matter how small or large their roles.

The way The Chosen allows for everyone to be seen, understood and loved to speaks to the direct influence of the LORD on the project. Every scene, piece of dialogue, gesture and interaction counts for something absolutely valuable. Nothing is wasted. Not one bit. Which makes me appreciate the stories of the women of Chosen that much more. Thank God for such wonderful actresses and writers. Teared up all over again watching that scene.

I love this scene with Mary M coming back to Jesus. I love that Mama Mary was there consoling her and encouraging her to go to Jesus. As a Catholic this scene invokes the confessional for me. It's a beautiful visual to hold whenever I am preparing to enter into the confessional and tell Jesus I'm sorry for my sins.

I only noticed now (Holy Spirit moment) that when Jesus tells Mary to "look up," she responds she can't and it reminded me so much of the Old Testament and how the Israelites (or any ordinary person) can't "see" God directly and are so scared or ashamed to be in His Presence. But when Jesus told Mary "look at Me" -- she looks up and she sobs and hugs Him. It reminded me of how God, the Word in the flesh, came down so we can look to Him because we couldn't look up 😭😭😭

  • @user-vm5ud4xw6n

That was such a beautiful scene. Almost better than the first time she was redeemed because she experienced walking in the love and peace of Christ and then had to have the courage to come back to him. I love the way gentle Matthew went looking for the lost sheep!

I loved that despised Matthew, the tax collector, smiled for the first time (that I recall) when he heard Jesus tell Mary "I forgive you. . . it is over." Later it is Matthew whom Jesus chooses to help him prepare what would be known as The Sermon on the Mount.

Elizabeth does such a wonderful job as Mary! From the moment we see her in Season 1, I was drawn in by her. Her acting in this role is so strong and understated; she underplays it, it often feels like to me, and that's a great thing. Her approach is subtle, and I love it. I can relate to her and Matthew profoundly for different reasons, chief among them "Why ME, of all people?! Why was someone like ME chosen by Him?" I still strive to get my head around that every day. It's why I half jokingly call myself a "bad Christian", because we all know who is perfect, and it's not me or any of us here.

I liked that you built up the relapse by having Mary see the Roman Soldiers that gives her a first trigger and then confront the possessed man. Knowing what we've learned from Season 1 helped to build the climax and storytelling in Season 2.
I also appreciated when she admitted that she had to have help coming back from her relapse. This is a very real reaction and response. I'm glad you're exploring all the different types of elements of being human while still showing God's Grace and Power.
I also loved when you explained in a different video of when Christ reaches out to her to embrace in Season 1 and then She reaches out to embrace Him in Season 2.

She is very beautiful, the beauty is in the way she carries herself, the care she gives to Mary, the connection to Jesus and how she sees herself with her imperfections as we all do that want to be a disciple of Jesus. The chemistry with the team and her mannerisms. She hands down is the best depiction of Mary to date! The Holy Spirit is for sure present. I love that scene. Probably the best one in the Chosen. And there many powerful moments there. Mary Magdalene is what i've been lately. Having sinned, unable to believe Jesus loves me all the same as He did before, as if He was disappointed AGAIN, "why did you betray me AGAIN?", then there's the shame that makes me unable to even look up at Him in the picture i have hanged on my wall. And I feel unworthy to even pray. Like im just too ugly to have that privilege. I think I needed to see this scene again. May God bless you and your journey with this project. I love watching it!

  • @SovereignJarodKwan
    @SovereignJarodKwan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

What ive loved about how they show Mary's current status in her life is how they do her make-up. When you first see her her face is a bit sunken in, she's pale, her hair is matted and unkept. Yes after she's released from her posession her face is fuller, her skin is brighter and her hair is straight and clean. You can really see the difference.
So in season 2 while watching I noticed her demeanor and facial features started to deteriorate like she was when she was possessed so watching I'm wondering what's going on. It's interesting to watch the subtle changes and also how she can sense demonic energy when the demonic is approaching (as she was rubbing her forehead and was in some form of pain). When she tried to face Belial, she was still fighting her own fear and trauma and you could see the defeat in her eyes when belial mocked her when he said "can't say". And from after that you could see her deteriorate more and more until Matthew and Simon found her.
The portrayal of relief when forgiven was astounding and I love how they use subtlety for mary in this show.
The scene at the end of this was very personal to me as I've been questioning whether I've been forgiven for certain past things I've done. Whether you believe in past lives or not, I know the atrocities I've committed and in this lifetime I've prayed for forgiveness and never gotten an answer. So the night that episode premiered, I totally forgot about it and had a long conversation with a close friend about what's coming, and what ive done and felt I had to do I'm the past. After the conversation I thought "oh crap the episode came out today" so I rushed to watch it. When that scene happened I cried when Jesus said "I forgive you" because I knew in that moment The Creator made me forget the episode was coming on, so that I could have those questions, memories and thoughts fresh in my mind just to hear those words.
That by far is my favorite scene of this show and I cannot wait for more of this show. It's caused me to pray more before I go to bed. May not be every day but I try to remember.

I really could relate with Mary Magdalene when she said she shouldn't go back to what she used to do before I felt that way so many times and how reassuring is Jesus that he waits for us time and time again .I just want him to be happy with me.😭🙂

Mary apologizing to Jesus is my favorite scene in the series thus far! I’ve been there so many times and wondered how He could ever forgive me!

Yes, and what I love about her part is that she's not timid about throwing her arms around Him. I feel that to my core.

Every time there's a scene where someone hugs Jesus, I think "What that hug must have felt like...to hug Jesus and feel THAT much love". 🙏

This scene is our (my) real and constant struggle with sin, but, all importantly, God's forever love, forgiveness, and redemption through our faith in Jesus Christ!

Come soon Lord! Amen. God is merciful. He always forgives. Never be ashamed to take your failures to him. He is for you, not against you! God is with you in the storm. He knows your troubles, he hears you! He is for you, on your side, always! It may feel silent at times, but he’s holding you close! May the Lord return soon! We are drawing closer. He is coming! Believe and trust in the Lord, you will be saved. Period. May the Lord bless you all! Hang in there family. Stay strong. It is not easy following the Lord. We are scoffed at. We give up our earthly dreams, our fleshly desires. What the enemy offers is short lived, but heaven is forever! Life may seem or be unfair, but God is with you! Always remember that. Things may get better or worse for you, but a kingdom awaits you! Finish the race! Repent daily and carry your cross. This world is fading fast. Your troubles are temporary! New channel here, I’d appreciate any kind of support. Don’t give up! God loves you so much! So do I. The Lord bless you!

Try industrial stand-up space heaters to keep your cast warm. They work very well at short distances and make a big difference. But don't get too close... They'll dry your skin quicker than quick.

Yeah, one of my favorite scenes was when Mary faced the demonic. She wasn't trying to battle the demon so much as she was reaching out to try to reach the lost soul and save him. It shows incredible strength and compassion to be willing to face down one's own demons (almost literally in this case) to go to bat for someone else.
