    I’ve had one of those. Amazing mower but hard on gas when used commercially. The new ones will last about 4 lawns I found where I was filling this one up every second lawn

    I like the Commercial mower you have there. The chrome handles and braces and the engine cowlings definitely say 1980s to 1990s. It also has steel wheels. The new ones (mine happens to be a 2021) has NeXite wheels (the same stuff that Honda uses as the deck material on the HRX series) hydrostatic transaxle and does look similar to yours. I grew up with an HR214SX and it's a fantastic machine as well. My parents bought it in Spring of 1985, two months before I was born in June and it mowed the hills of our property out in the country. I learned to mow with that mower and used it up to the age of 18 when the carburetor became too expensive to repair. Five years later I pulled it out, cleaned the carb and it ran for another two to three seasons and then I sold it for scrap. I've had Honda HRA214SX mowers, another HR214SX that I bought used for $25, used for a few years and now I want to repair it and sell it since now I own an HRX217HYC and the commercial HRC2163HXC I mentioned earlier. The HR214 was a quiet machine, probably due to the cast aluminum deck and I know of someone in my town that owns an aluminum deck HRC215 as well.

      Thanks for your in depth comment, WJCTechyman! It is interesting to see some small variations between the early and late generation Commercials. The basic platform and design has remained the same which is amazing. Thanks for sharing your story about growing up with a Honda mower too! It sounds like you've had quite a fleet of them. Nice comparisons.

      That is a very kind thought from you. I have give it my dad. It has been garaged kept its entire life. It has always gotten cleaned after being used. If any grass or green starts to build up on the wheels or clump up underneath, it's removed or scrubbed off. Storing it inside and out of the elements is key.

    That is very cool! What a great story! And it’s awesome that you have your childhood mower. Out of curiosity, your dad get a new Honda?

    • @AustenARW
      @AustenARW 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! No, his new yard is very small (only a few short stripes) and this was too much machine so he got a lightweight battery mower. No comparison to this one though.

    Used to watch the landscapers trot accross lawns. Its almost like they had the self propeller gear turned up to 10. It was awesome. Especially when they kicked that lever over from idle🥴🤤 lile musc to my lil 6 year old ears. Great times.

    • @AustenARW

      Thanks for sharing your memories with these mowers! Yes, gardeners and landscapers definitely did trot behind them usually at a higher RPM than the mowers came with from the factory too. Yup, music to my ears and hard to mistake the sound of a Honda 216 Commercial. Thanks for your comment!

      @@AustenARW Yeah, to me it sounds similar to the HR214SX, but it's music to my ears hearing the blade being engaged.
