What a beauty of a game. I'm not a Zerg player but I always thought that's what *THE SWARM* should look like. flowing waves of zerglings spreading chaos at its wake.
Stefano was the creator of the infamous 12 minute max out back in WoL ( I think...), basically he did what he did here, rushing the third base and well, he was at 200/200 supply at 12 minutes. Back when you didn't start with a million workers. That was pretty hard to beat. Actually so hard to beat that as a Protoss you'd need to push early and deny the third expansions so you got some more time to create the Protoss deathball of Immortals, Stalkers, Sentries, Zealots and Colossi. You COULD try to go Air because the first max out would be mainly roaches but the biggest problem would be, that you couldn't defend a base with the few air units you got by that time, a basetrade was impossible and as soon as he scouts your air, he builds hydras or mutas (depending).
Just wanted to say thanks lowko:) its really "wierd" that EVERY video is so awesome to watch... i dont know pretty much any ytberd where it is like that. Thankd for sharing the vods with us
What i love about Stephano is that he is still using ling bane even until the 10 minute mark, waiting for 3-3. It will be interesting to see what will happen with the new zergling burrow buffs, and the widow mine buffs too.
That was excelent. Time was efficient, but he was not efficient enough, and I"m guessing stephano knew that. The control from both players was excellent, leaving me on the edge of my seat for the last 15 minutes of this 20 minute match. Goodness Gracious. GG indeed.

@17:36 when Lowko checks units/resources lost tab, am I crazy or does the ~3k minerals Stephano lost seem negligible when compared to the worker/income count and the ~1500 gas Time lost??
It looks like he underestimated the number of lings and corruptors on the board and thought his siege tanks could handle the swarm. By the looks of it, his biggest loss was the siege tanks taken by ambushes. He had at least 1k more in gas losses.
He already invested too much into bio to switch into mech, he had too many barracks and was upgrading infantry armor and weapons so it wouldn't be efficient to change his production.
You don't need to invest into mech, he just had to make an Armory and that's it, no more lings. even without blue flame a wall of hellbaths wins against a ling swarm, with blue flame you can just wipe them without effort
I think you overestimate the effectiveness of hellbats when Zerg is that far ahead. Lots of banes with ling surround and its over. This style of play is very hard to counter because drops are easily shut down and terran has a hard time keeping up with zergs defense macro play...
actually chickens can fly just as well as a turkey the reason we think they dont fly is because the raised ones get the tip of their wings cut just after they hatched
@LowkoTV please cast the sixth game of the grand final beetwen Reynor and Serral, it was long, awesome macro game with mutas, lurkers, vipers and stuff :D And the seventh match was also nice, impressive strategy from Serral.
I feel like time would have absolutely deserved to win this match, but we'll Start just put constant pressure on him so he could never really move out. At least not without being punished hard
Huh, I don’t play StarCraft but I am pretty sure that getting your creep wiped out by some marines when it require some commitment to expand it look really frustrating.
Widowmines aren't bad sure, but they'll get better should the balance changes be applied the way they are planned. Being able to have widowmines cloaked again after taking a shot will give dealing with this kind of aggressive play a great defensive option.
why not a hellion blue flame to counter these swarm? i mean, trasformed they can decimate zerling or am i wrong? also banshee with cloak, i did not see any observer. i don't understand, but i am a big noob
Some more informations. Stephano is down 0-1 at this point to TIME, so he is under a decent amount of pressure of winning this Bo3, and he did won the series catching back up 2-1 beating TIME. However TIME came back around from the loser's bracket into the semi-finals beating Heromarine 3-0, lost to Reynor tho.
Wow, it's interesting how different this is to the original WCS cast. If I remember correctly, they thought Stephano had a big lead since that first push and I'd rather agree with them than Lowko. Nevertheless it was a good video. ;)
while it was looking like zerg was winning, it seemed to be a bit of a preemptive surrender. terran was having trouble keeping up a mining base, but it was trading efficiantly and still had enough income to fight. if terran figured out a way to keep a mining base then things might look good for terran.
There was no way for the terran to come back from having less supply, less resources and less tech. The zerg was ahead in every way and ultralisks were just about to come out, a few ghosts, marines and tanks aren't enough to take down a 200/200 army of zerglings and ultras.
I wonder, why don't pros switch to Hellbaths in this scenarios? they are just 100 minerals each and are good against all of Zerg's early game, even if Zerg where to switch to mass hydra it wouln't be that much of a loss in the slightest, hell, you don't even need the blue flame most of the time. And once zerg goes into something to counter you, you can just turn them into Hellions and use them to wipe out as many workers as possible, wich would be worth more than the hellions costed in the first place
Everyone mentions these high as fvck apms and im not arguing them but i wish the count would take into consideration repeat actions. Hitting a hotkey to select your hatchery/barracks and then spamming a key when your minerals are low until you have enough to build a single unit or two isn't impressive to me. Microing 3 armies and building your expos and reinforcing is when i pay attention to APM
So, the zerg that was managing to sit around 80->90 drones almost uncontested for half the game won? Imagine my shock. You kind of need to make them suffer more meaningful damage than that.

Just curious, if Time saw the mass Swarm style of zerg wouldn't it be benificial to have addex some hellbats into the mix alongside marine tank?

He had banelings too at all times so I doubt the hellbats would have made much of a difference.
I think you overestimate the effectiveness of hellbats when Zerg is that far ahead. Lots of banes with ling surround and its over. This style of play is very hard to counter because drops are easily shut down and terran has a hard time keeping up with zergs defense macro play...

Chickens can fly for a few seconds, the world record is 30 seconds but most can't stay off the ground for more than 3 seconds.

i guess terran should just give up against zerg if there is nothing they can do. too bad tanks and marines aren't very good versus zerglings.
