Thank you. I've waited six months for my husband to do this because it's his car. With your instructions, I completed the task myself in just a couple of minutes. This is an excellent tutorial.
Thanks so much for this. I didn't know how to get to the bulbs on my own, and the shop said changing my bulbs would be exoensive cause they'd have to take the whole bumper off. You just saved me a bunch of money.
I followed this video and was able to change the passenger side bulb! The guy at the auto parts store told us it would be impossible to do and that we would have to take it to the dealership for them to do it. Well, I got my little arms in there and got the job done myself! Thanks for the video!
See how we can do this on our own thanks to gents like this ! I’m about to do my drivers side and soooo great full I don’t need to waste time with a garage !
Actually on the passenger side take the 2 bolts off for the coolant recovery tank and pick it up and move it out of the way. Gives easier access to the headlight.
My wife has a 2012 Fusion and her driver side was out... turns out that it was just loose. This video helped me get to it and reseat it. Working now. Thanks for this!
There are several videos about this task. Your video instruction involves more to get to the bulb. That being said, your video indicating jacking the car up and removing the tire was the only way I could get both hands to the bulb. Thanks!
On my 2010 the passenger side just turn the wheel in and there is a cover plate in the wheel well, remove one screw and take it off and the light bulb is right there.
Thanks a ton! This video helped me out immensely. Just did my driver's side light in a out 5 minutes. I shoukd probably do the passenger side too, but i don't think i want to mess with it right now
You know, all you had to do is remove the one screw under the hood that holds your washer fluid bottle down, and the washer fluid bottle neck and the AC hoses pull up and out of the way giving you full access to your passenger side headlight. There's no reason to go through the wheel well. It's only one bolt up on top. EDIT: I'm sorry you had to go through all that.
I had fun changing bulb one-handed. Wasn't sure if I could do it. Was very pleased with the ease. Took me two hours but I took my time. It made me wonder how much a mechanic would want. I'm guessing 50 -70 bucks.
had to replace the passenger side on my 2010 fusion hybrid, took out the 3 clips facing the way the car is, took out 1 bolt right under the bumper, and if your arm is small enough you can reach in just like that and swap it out. thanks for the turorial!
Just take the two bolts off the coolant recovery tank and move it, had more than enough room to change the bulb on the a passenger 2012 Ford Fusion hybrid.
I just did a friends 2011 fusion sel H11 bulb from walmart $10 took the over flow tank off to get the passenger low bean in shops wanted $140. To install them..just ridiculous..great video also try not to touch the bulb oils from your skin will damage them
I was going to post how I did this myself, similar to how you did it. I just removed the 2 10mm bolts from the coolant reservoir, lifted it up. I pulled on the bottom hose to get some much needed slack. Then was able to get the bulb replaced, still with a lot of struggling with my large hands. Definitely easier then dealing with the wheel well, those clips never go back in right.
every video i see has different connectors. in the videos they are always bigger and easier to remove from the bulb, but as for mine, mine are really small and i can’t even get it off. idk if the previous owner changed them out or if ford changed that pieces post 2010 since that’s the year i have. but i’ve been struggling for 20 min and im about to just give up bc its giving no wiggle at all
Helpful video. I have larger hands and found this approach didn't quite work. I used a hybrid approach of loosening the coolant tank/reservoir and changing the bulb from up top combined with removing the rubber cover from below.
which brand, and are you happy with the output? i use gtr minis from headlight revolution in my van, as was planning on getting them for the fusion as well
The low beam on the left in my case had an overheated, burned connector at the bulb, the bulb terminal is no good either. Previously, I found a heavy duty, high heat silicone connector at NAPA for the GM's using the 9006 bulb. I gotta check to see if there's a heavy duty connector for this application too.
Passenger side - Remove the overflow bottle, 5 min to complete the change. 1 small hose, 1 bolt, 1 nut, both 10mm. Lift the bottle full of fluid up and over, there's the bulb. No spill, easy.
Of course! To change a headlight bulb you have to remove a wheel and most of the fender well shroud. Oh for the old days, when you just took out a couple screws and stuck in a new incandescent bulb from the outside.
You can also just take off the nut and bolt on the water reservoir and top water runoff line and push it to the side then get to it, thats how I done mine. 10mm socket some pliers to losen the tiny clamp and 5 mins of your time
There’s a much easier way than this!! Just remove the two bolts of the coolant tank and move it out of the way, they’ll be enough room for you to change the bulb on the passenger side. 30 mins tops, 1 hour for both.
Do you happen to know the size of the bolts holding the tank? Gotta replace mine after work and figured I'd get the right size while I'm shopping for the bulb instead of possibly spending more time searching around the garage for it than actually replacing the bulb lol
@@MisterFrodo just look up a channel called Handy Val ford fusion headlight bulb replacement, followed his way. No bumpers removed or coming through the wheel well. Should take you no time.
Awesome thanks for the info! I ended up just buying a whole ratchet kit to keep in the trunk cuz that seemed like the smarter move but appreciate it none the less
There is a high and low beam bulb correct? I’m replacing my buddies fusion headlights this weekend and he bought high and low led bulbs with canbus like I told him too.
I don’t think they are separate bulbs with the stock 10-12 housings… “High/low beam” believe it or not, isn’t to do with the aiming of the light…. It’s the positioning of the filaments…. Some housings do have separate bulb sockets for high/low beam…. I believe our fusions only have one socket . In this socket, goes a bulb with two filaments or leds (high filament, low filament… beams) and when you flick on your brights, you’d really just be turning on an extra filament… doubling the brightness, however, the high beam filament/LED ‘is aimed to reflect slightly higher…. Or at least this is how I understand it…. what do I know, I’m not fuckinn Thomas Edison 😂 let’s get some keysboard mechanics over here, I kinda need this answered too
Just did a 2010 for a friend. I put in very bright LED low beams for her. I would like to make a suggestion: Take the wheel off the right side and go ahead and take out the wheel well. It is just a few more anchors to remove and once that is done. the job is really easy.
I notice your headlight line up perfectly with the connector facing downward. However on my fusion, when I screw in the bulb, the connector is facing at about 8 o clock position on both sides giving me an awful light pattern... wtf o.O
Seems like these manufacturers are doing everything possible to make us spend more. Design Flaws for simple maintenance; 20 dollar light bulbs; A lady told me that her friend bought a car that had a special key to be able to change the bulb and you had to get it done at a shop. It was 300 dollars.😱😡 I think im just gonna start going backwards in years for cars. This is ridiculous and it won't stop until we all demand this shit end. Every purchase is a vote. I vote for no more stupid!
I agree, my boyfriend has a ‘93 truck and thought he could work on my car (like the one in the video of course) the same way but it was so much more complicated I had to look this up… miss when it was easy
I need to see which ones to take off and which order to take them off for the passenger side. And then I need to see how to piece it all back together. I’m not car savvy at all! Anyone in TH-cam reading please help me get the passenger side one !
Removing the fender liner as shown is NOT necessary for this job. There is an access panel on both sides held in by one screw. Remove it and you’re golden. Or, you can remove the coolant recovery tank on passenger side and get to it from above. But don’t fuss with these plugs he removed, they are a real PITA.
On a Toyota the video would have been 30 seconds long since you can actually get to every bulb without having to remove anything else from the car. Ford LOVES to make basic maintenance a nightmare.
The engineers that design cars, need their asses kicked for designing shit like this. Why in the hell would they not design the headlight assembly so it would be easy to remove??? Thank you I noticed my passenger light out today and I've changed my own bulbs since forever and I go to pop the hood looked where the base for the bulb is and I have small hands and tried to wiggle my hand in and couldn't get in there so after making dinner for my kids and got them in the bath I'm like I'm going to see if I can find a video for this issue to see how to get in there. Never thought to go in through the tire well. So tomorrow while I'm on break at work I'm actually going to get in there and change my bulb.

OMG...hurt my hands trying to remove the bulb but with your video I was able get it out in a sec...awesome!!!
you've helped me very much with your fusion maintenance videos, even though theyre a year old. youre a good teacher, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for this! I got pulled over around 5:15am because my passenger headlight went out. This will help a ton!
Thanks for this. So many people that make videos never tell you the wrench size. Saves so much time. Thanks for that

You should make a video. This is the only one i have found
Yep, saw that, much easier. But really still a pain in the ass even that way
Thanks for the tip
Came back to say: THIS IS THE WAY! Did this last night and was done in no time, thanks for that tip!
THANK YOU...I did it this way in about 30 minutes I would've done it faster but the clips holding the bulb gave me a hard time
Had a light go out in my car, was able to fix it in 2 mins with this. Thank you. Super easy
I’m glad I also have small hands and I was able to replace my bulb without taking anything apart. Thank you!
I did driver side one handed! After watching your video of course. Thank you. It was helpful.
Thank you for showing us the easy way. The other guy had us taking off the entire bumper! We disheartened until we saw your vid. Thanks again!

Thank you very much for this tutorial. I couldn't for the life of me figure out that passenger side without pulling a lot of top end stuff.
On my 2010 the passenger side just turn the wheel in and there is a cover plate in the wheel well, remove one screw and take it off and the light bulb is right there.
Gonna try this
Gonna try this with my 2010. Thank you brother
They all do unless it has an aftermarket replacement liner

Do we need to unplug the negative cable on the battery before replacing the bulbs?
