Some common reasons a generator is not making power are the following:
1.) A tripped breaker

3.) Defective or worn out brushes
4.) Defective breaker
5.) A bad outlet
6.) A bad capacitor (for brushless generators)
7.) A bad AVR (Automatic voltage regulator.
9-28-2022 Thank you! HURRICANE Ian is coming to Florida today. Yesterday we went thru all are final preparations including started generator again and we had no power to plugs. I found your TH-cam video last night at work. I showed my husband the video when I got home. He did the drill thing. It worked!
Thanks so much for the drill motor fix. I conducted the fix in the middle of a power outage on my circuit breaker and was able reset the breaker...so very cool. Thanks dude...
0:34 seconds in and I found my solution. The circuit breaker was off. Flipped it in ON position and it worked!
Your better than saloon your straight to the point
The carbon brush assembly has two wires that sometimes become loose or their connection points need to be cleaned.
I have a GFIO power outlets on a Generac. It starts on the first pull every time. I have demagnetized it. Replaced the brushes, AVR, And the GFIO outlets twice

Hey how's it going! I found your video very insightful. However I have a predator 6500 watt with about 400 hours on it and I've kept up maintenance I'm actually out in the deerwoods now and the darn thing just shut down on me. First I there was no power at all and then the motor shut down immediately after like it were running out of gas it starts right back up and it shuts back down in about 20 30 seconds and no idiot lights. I hit the breaker but it doesn't draw on the motor at all . Idea?

Hi there sir I have a old Coleman 5500 watt generator and the problem I'm having is trying to hook up a stick welder to it motor runs excellent I check voltage coming out I got 121 coming out and I got 240 coming out when hooking up welder makes welder spit and doesn't stay with a narc hook up welder on household 240 well the works fine any ideas what it could be wrong with my generator thank you

I have a 1200 watt small generator and it will work with the power tool forward and backwards but it will not work with a small heater or a lamp. Can you help?
What could the cause be for our dirmax xb 10 thousand not to put any power out. Runs great and was working great when we put it away.

Small portable petrol Generator 1.5kva, when running, red out put light (power out ) is off. When you rev engine it comes on. At fast idling it's not on. What is the problem?
I use a corded drill plug it in then use a cordless drill I put in the drill and tighten both chucks down on the same but and run the cordless drill and reverse, turning the corded drill witch flashes the field

This is a long shot. I have a Honda EV 4010, SN 1002864, water cooled RV generator. My testing, following the Honda shop manual for this model, indicates the control module is defective. The problem is that Honda no longer has replacement modules available- it is now obsolete. Do you have any leads on either locating a replacement module or someone who is able to repair said module. All components of the module are embedded. TIA
I have an older Predator 2500 inverter that runs beautifully but doesn't power the 110v outlet. I replaced the outlet with a household outlet and it worked on a small appliance. i started it later and it didn't work again. Any suggestions?

You just confirmed what I think might be wrong. I got one bad outlet but the other one works just fine and I know everything else like the circuit and what not is good too. Great info. and Thank you.
If the capacitor is leaking or has any kind of discharge wet or dry(or evidence of discharge [dried]) it should be replaced.
Could you do a video on GFCI troubleshooting?
I have tried all of your tips , still nothing anything else i could try , it has brushes, avr replaced , brushes replaced ports cheacked with multi meter switch is on enjin does run , there is a connection to the coil , i have tried the drill tip and flashed the field ,
Any other suggestions ?
I have a welder generator and it has 3 receptacles in total. 1 is a 240v l14-30 and 2 110 like in your video. one 110 has power and the other doesn't the 240 only has 110v. its a Klutch 44451 7500K Arc Welder/Generator 429CC Kohler Gas Engine.

i think the actual resistor for the amperage selection completes a second circuit allowing full access on all outlets. i feel like maybe thats the problem idk.

Hello, Good video. I bypassed my OC sensor on my Generac GP6500. Just took the 2 black wires off and connected them together so the engine would run. Now its running great but has no power output? Does it need the oc sensor to produce power and does it need the hour gauge to produce power. Gonna try everything in your vid and I appreciate you making this video.
How’s your generator now?
I left my generator uncovered outside overnight and it rained (dang). Started it the next day and heard a small pop. Now no power to the 120v receptacles (the 120/240v seems to still have continuity).
The horseshoe shape is the ohm setting and will not beep. You have to go to the next setting with the arrow pointing at the vertical lines
Since ohms is a measure of resistance, if no resistance exists in an open circuit then MY meter WILL beep In the "horseshoe" setting.... maybe not everybodys meter has that function in the ohms setting, but you cannot state that it will not beep.... YOURS clearly does not, but yours is not the only type in the world.
07/15/2022: My Onan 4000 doesn't Gen. I'll try these tips and get back with you shortly.
Funny how the simplest thing is forgetting to put the off/on switch to on. I've done that a few times.

Because the oil drain plug is loose! Have it tighten according to torque specs such as 10 foot pounds

Also on a brush type your 2 slip rings have to be cleaned before new brushes are installed
They only run by petrol not electric,so when you generators don't work is when the fuel runs out 😂😂😂😂😂
