    For those wishing to make your own friction polish, it's old name was "O.B.s Shine Juice". You can find many vids on it. It's equal parts 1/3 shellac, boiled linseed oil, and denatured alcohol.

    How do the shellac and wax bond? Whenever i do my own mixtures, i don't get them to bond.

    What is the ratio of the three way finish?

    You're right, anyone can make a friction polish. You couldn't patent the formulation or copyright the use of the term friction polish. The actual patent office phrase is "not obvious to those skilled in the art". Given that I hold 13 other patents, I do know the drill. What is patented is the method of making the microaggregated wax to make an oil/wax/shellac finish without emulsifying agents, just as Minwax patented their method of producing their specific urethane monomer.

    Which wax would you use as a top coat?

    Anyone can jump in with a answer . Can you use the three way over friction polish ?

      Short answer:Yes. HPFP is an excellent sanding sealer and provided a great base for any topcoat finish.

    Hi Michael, has the Walnut Oil/Carnauba Wax and shellac finish all in one? Where do you get this product? Will this finish be suitable for turned pens? Thanks a lot for any advice.

      Yes, all in one. The products are available from Woodcraft and are very good for pens.

    Will it work for polishing epoxy after fine sanding? Thanks

    • @michaelmeredith483
      @michaelmeredith483 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will but you will be better off wet sanding the epoxy to about 7000 and applying no film finish.

      @@michaelmeredith483 Thanks, I am looking for some way to avoid a lot of fine sanding. I use to sand to 600 grit, then polishing compound, its ok, but could be better

    Cocobolo sanded to 600 grit !!!! Honestly you could smear peanut butter on that combo and it would still shine like a diamond.

      No finish is any better than the surface you put it on, even peanut butter.

    are you adding carnuva wax first and then shellac

    • @michaelmeredith721
      @michaelmeredith721 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wax and shellac are both in the finish. High Build Friction Polish has no wax.

    • @TheDoctorswoodshop
      @TheDoctorswoodshop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The walnut oil will seal the grain and protect the surface but I wouldn't call it waterproof.

    "original patented wax shellac" Anybody can make friction polish. You can't patent something thats common knowledge.
