I wonder when they made the switch in the monologue from, "I'm a cop" to, "I carry a badge" ? 🤔 I hope it's not one of those "Mandella Effect" things where I remember him saying, "I carry a badge", when everyone else remembers him saying, "I'm a cop" 😳
22:11, Garvey confesses, and tells the detectives that his wife was the reason for what happened. His wife put a lot of pressure on him to get all the good things that she wanted. A materialistic woman!
Dialed 9 to get an outside line. Then JUST 6 numbers!! Today the area code of 3 numbers and then 7 numbers. My, my how far we have gotten in phone tech.
Love the old Dragnet, in the days before Miranda! A $5,000 car and a $40,000 house? That was a lot of money for a car back then, and that had to be one nice house!
yeah they wouldnt be able to promote current LA. Every scene would have feces on the ground and plenty of "diverse" people burning, looting, and murdering. Thanks libs!
Out of thousands of cities only 13 reduced police funding and that has been mostly reversed. You just like having something to gripe about. Waaaaaaah!!!
Even though there was no right to an attorney during questioning, the accused didn't have to actually answer police questions. Although I guess if they kept at it for days, almost anybody ends up confessing.
Oh, by the way- the radio episode mentioned that his accomplice, Kenneth Tyson, was also convicted of first degree robbery, and was serving HIS sentence in the state pen. Fred Lawrence was convincted of receiving stolen property- and also sent to the state pen for no less than five years.
Mr. Garvey: "I call BS! You made a fake tape recording with A.I. or something" 🤣 Also Mr. Garvey: "I can pay you" Detective: "What?" Mr. Garvey: "What?" LOL 😂🤣
Playing cards and gabbing on the phone, that's all she kept riding me about, day in and day out. I wasn't making enough money. She didn't have any clothes. The kids oughta to go to a better school, we ought have a new house, on and on and on. Gotta go in business for myself, make money, lots of money, same thing all the time, talk talk, talk. That's all someone can take.
Yea .. he’s screwed. Poor guy ..well Mabey he will sleep better now and start smoking Top Tobacco..😬I saw him a gray haired hippie on Adam 12 and many others 👍🏼
Dail 9 to get a outside line (Cellphones) not anymore, those days are over. I bet young people don't even know what dail 9 to get a outside line even means.
“Spreads out in every direction like a broadloom rug” LOL. Beautiful
😂👍
Men who can't say "no", to their wives, even when it will crush the family, are weak.
Great episode.
The one thing we can take from this is...... DIAL 9!!!!
😅
Thanks for posting these programs they are great 👍
This was a great episode! Great dialogue!

Vic Perrin was in a lot of Dragnet, and Adam 12 episodes.
22:11, Garvey confesses, and tells the detectives that his wife was the reason for what happened. His wife put a lot of pressure on him to get all the good things that she wanted. A materialistic woman!
Listen yo Big Joe Turners song Shake, Rattle & Roll from the 50's, described a similar woman.

$5,000 car today would be roughly $56,000 and $40,000 house, $450,000 (rounded).
Must've been. My parents home, brand new, in 1959, just outside of DC, was $25k. My mother's Buick Le Sabre station wagon, in 1963, was $3k
Sometimes it's like the opening is a promotion for the city.

great episode. cool to see these black and whites 🖤
22:11, Garvey confesses, and tells that his wife was the reason for what happened!
I wonder what the investigation cost
That was a good episode. Donot mess with Joe Friday.
How many times does he need to be told to dial 9?
I was thinking the same thing lol. Once was sufficient, but he said it like 4 or 5 times 😆
If their evidence was so good, they wouldn't have needed a statement.
" the police can have all the evidence they need.. they WANT the confession" .. Chris Rock...
Humphrey Bogart would have made a good Joe Friday
Yes, true, but Jack Webb made a GREAT Joe Friday.
He was already Phillip Marlowe... Being Joe Friday would just have been greedy...🤷♀️
This cat Garvey looks and acts a lot like the actor Kevin Spacey.
Vic Perrin made a career out of playing creeps... Great actor... And the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet ironically..
Dragnet 2020. Friday is defunded. Frank sees the streets, pukes on his shoes.

@@booklover6753 we don’t need police at all. Prosecutors let out all criminals back out immediately. So why bother?
well of course. if 13 other people jumped off a bridge sooner or later people would notice that jumping off the bridge doesnt end well.@@booklover6753
What no constitutional rights, never happen today !
Dial 9 first Garvey.
Haha.. 😁
Even though there was no right to an attorney during questioning, the accused didn't have to actually answer police questions. Although I guess if they kept at it for days, almost anybody ends up confessing.
All I have to say is , "Dial 9". Maybe he should have called a lawyer.
Back then there was a belief that an innocent man didn't need a lawyer...not true as it turns out...
Originally telecast on May 22, 1952, and adapted from a February 14, 1952 radio script.
Mr. Garvey: "I call BS! You made a fake tape recording with A.I. or something" 🤣
Also Mr. Garvey: "I can pay you"
Detective: "What?"
Mr. Garvey: "What?"
LOL 😂🤣
Do all the titles of these episodes begin with “The Big...”?
yes, all of them, radio episodes too
Almost all of them. I did just see one called "A Gun for Christmas" and I was also shocked that it didn't have "BIG" in the title. Great episode btw!
Vic Perrin; another very popular radio personality Jack Webb brought over to TV.
Thanks for the upload.
This is the same person who narrated every episode of Sergeant Preston Of The Yukon.
Perrin played "Ernest Garvey" on the original radio version.

Would you like to bet Mrs. Garvey divorced her husband while he served his sentence- IF he ever got out?
If they had put him on house arrest that could have been another episode

😆🤣
Life before Miranda.
Yea .. he’s screwed. Poor guy ..well Mabey he will sleep better now and start smoking Top Tobacco..😬I saw him a gray haired hippie on Adam 12 and many others 👍🏼
Do not watch this after watching an episode of Police Squad. A surreal experience.
Don’t forget to dial 9 😎hahaha
Dail 9 to get a outside line (Cellphones) not anymore, those days are over. I bet young people don't even know what dail 9 to get a outside line even means.
my cell phone has a rotary dial... :)
I think office buildings with landlines still have to dial 9 for an outside line
place i worked until 2016 had to dial out with 9@@frances4797
Jack Webb is A Savage!!!
Jack Webb is the bomb!
Man, it was tough on a suspect before Miranda.
Wonder how his wife faired out with no money coming in 🤔 and the old man at the gray bar hotel 🙁
She probably dumped Garvey and married a rich man. ;)
No more Mink Coats!!!
24:41 sound from William street logo
I wanted to see his wife.
Same 😂
