I'm a retired police chaplain who has worked quite a few suicide crime scenes. I've always been impressed by attention to detail the Dragnet producers got right on the radio & tv shows. Most other law enforcement shows were so badly and incorrectly constructed that they were an embarrassment to professional police officers. Dragnet, on the other hand, was spot-on from the detectives' interview methodology to their forensic techniques. Jack Webb loved LAPD and he made darned sure they were portrayed fairly. Perhaps that's why he received full police honors when he reached the end of his watch.

I have read he was a stickler for getting all the procedures correct. I think that's why this show holds up decades later, it's realism is refreshing. No melodrama or sensationalism, just real life. Maybe I should say "Just the facts". PS Thank you for your work. The police need guidance perhaps more than most.

I am so glad that these older Dragnet episodes have been uploaded. I am disappointed, thou, that many of the original Dragnet episodes have been removed from TH-cam. Some claim copy right issues. That makes no sense. Does any one how to g et around that so that some of the really good episodes can be brought back? Thanks a bunch.

Since 1933 the police have had the means to do GSR testing. In the 50's they did parafin testing. Now they use a faster/more accurate spectroscope detector. This simple Gun Shot Residue test would have shown if the husband and/or wife had recently shot a gun.

And that’s why it’s critical to be very thorough when gathering and reviewing forensics. Forensics don’t lie, people do. And people also like to hop on bandwagons before getting all sides of a story, which is why it’s so easy for the media to “shape and mold public opinion, both foreign and domestic.” Half truths, omitted info, staged nonsense, whatever keeps the folks “tuning in” for their “daily programming” like dutiful little robots getting their daily data download of social engineering. It’s their true purpose.

"Miranda Rights" was imposed on Federal agents by the Supreme Court in 1912 but refused to expand that right to the states till 1968.
Various state adopted the rule for themselves between 1912 and 1968. Califoria appears to have adopted the rule in the early 1960s after the Black and White Dragnets but before the Color Dragnets.
Britain seem to have adopted the rule in the 1920s or 1930s, you see people being tokd they rights in British movies of the 1930s and 1940s
The US Supreme Court finally imposed "Miranda Rights" on all states in 1968.
