    It's actually fairly important to notice those things, since most of the dancing takes place with those kinds of subtle movements.

    Oh I love love love Ayano-san!! She was my favorite Geiko so it's always really fun to see her as a Maiko. I've never seen this dance before, but it's really very beautiful.

      From her makeup its likely a maiko though, and her precision could use some work

    • @moushimoushi8963

      @@angelabby2379 she was definitely a maiko at the time of this recording, not just from the makeup (geiko makeup and senior maiko makeup is really similar). She's actually a senior maiko since she's wearing a cream embroidered collar and ofuku hair style. What makes you think her form needs work? To me, seeing this dance quite a few times, it looks really good to me. Ayano-san was known for her bubbly personality and dancing prowess, which is saying something especially with her being the first maiko to debut from her brand new okiya in Gion Kobu, she had a lot to prove and became really popular ^^

    The more I see videos like this, the more I get drawn into the music and singing. I can see why some might find it grating, but I find it very haunting and beautiful.

    Superb presentation and performance by this graceful dancer, and excellent musician for her. Good voice and instrument. This must have been a joy to experience live. I find these performances very soothing and uplifting. It seems to reflect nature and the elements. The music also sounds like natural things. I love the backs of the necks. Greetings from Paris, France. Uprated.

    @NobodyOfTheTardis if you look at the back it is red. a junior maiko wears a collar with red and white (and some other colors sometimes) in the front, red in the back, senior maiko wear white in front, red in back, and geiko wear white all the way around.

    maiko ayano(彩乃)is clever and skilful in dancing ,mtraditional music and so on.
    this dance(君に扇)needs high class of movement of body cotrol.
    now,she is most senior maiko in gion koubu(祇園甲部).

    It's quite surprising finding! Ayano-chan is dancing with a pair of dancing fans with a Kamon of Inoueryuu (family crest of Inoue School) and five lines which means she has been already awarded the first Natori (i.e. a Name of the First master grade). It's great! Now she would be a Geiko because she should have done Erikae in 2011 or 2012. I wonder about what level of dancing skills she has achieved now. If someone has video of her resent dancing, please upload and share. Thanks. Oct.27 2013

      Hey, the part describing the lines on a dancing fan caught my attention. I didn't know the fan reveals a certain rank. Could you please explain more or can I read about this somewhere? Thank you very much!

    • @edienandy
      @edienandy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@estermeryova1370 the amount of lines they get increases as they progress in their studies. The color is significant as well. Hers are red because she’s a maiko but if she became a geiko they’d be a deep navy/purple kind of color. If she became/becomes a Natori (certified master) she’d be able to dance Natori roles and use Natori fans. Those have beautiful a camellia flower on them instead of lines.

    井上流の紋入りの五本線の入った舞扇を持って舞うてはるちゅうことは、彩乃ちゃんはこの時既に初級の名取になってはったちゅうことかいな。それにしては、まだ舞が幼いんちゃうかな。確か、2011年か2012年に衿替えしはったはずやから、今は芸妓はんやけど、どんな舞を見せてもらえるんかいな。誰ぞ最近の彩乃ちゃんの舞姿をビデオに撮ってはったら、アップしてくれはらへんか。2013.10.27

    2013.10.27の私のコメントは、私の全くの勘違いで、正しくないことが判りました。彩乃ちゃんが持って舞っている扇は、金地近衛引紅五段扇というもので、舞妓さんに出はって金地近衛引紅三段扇をもらって暫く後に一つレベルが上がったことを意味するだけのもので、名取になっていることを意味しないのだということだそうです。それで彼女の舞がまだ幼い印象を与えている理由が分かりました。混乱した情報を出して、えらいすんまへん。

    Er... Maiko (which are apprentice geisha) don't wear white collars. They wear red. Actual geisha wear the white collar (unless times have changed and for some reason they have reversed this)

    • @edienandy
      @edienandy ปีที่แล้ว

      Their colors starts out red and as they progress it gets covered in more and more white embroidery until they get a full white color when they graduate to geiko

    • @Nothingbutdust_
      @Nothingbutdust_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ayano-san must've been older than that here... Nowadays girls usually start their training at age 15 when they graduate from junior high school. I think she has also already painted her upper lip, which is a sign that she has been a maiko for around a year or so and her eri is almost plain white, which means that she would soon beome geiko. In this video she was probably a senior maiko nearing her twenies.

      It might be hard to enjoy if you're not familiar with the art. It is acting in form of dance where a story is told. One might not understand it if one doesn't know Japanese. These songs and dances are very old, some even around 300 years old. It's also really hard work on mastering the dance skills. It looks very effortless and that is the point. But it really isn't.
