I do not use tuk tuk.
Fortunately i have full bike licence, 40 years experience, on and off road driving, so Patong traffic is no problem.
Hiring a bike with no license or experience will end up badly. Police fines, or worse still an accident, costing you plenty in damages, and uninsured hospital fees.

The prices are pretty outrageous. You know they are many times higher than other parts of Thailand. Phuket is infamous for many years for the taxi/Tuk Tuk mafia. It will never end because the local government is in on it. Charging 600 - 800 Baht for 10 to15 minute ride in these death traps is just criminal.

The police money and the tuk-tuk money goes up the line, not sure how much the guys keep for themselves. I did 25000 miles riding around Thailand on a 125cc step-thru (moped they are not to be pedantic) and a few months after I exited the Kingdom my ex-Thai girlfriend got knocked off and landed on her head, went into a coma and had to hand the house deeds over to pay for the treatment. She did recover but was somewhat annoyed that I seemed more concerned about the fate of the trusty Yamaha than her. You always have to keep an eye on the mirrors to look out for vehicles that won't move around you but I have been riding since I was sixteen so the instincts are there.

Sean mate ,Thankfully many moons ago i joined a Thai forum that helped out the westerners (ended now sadly because of the death of the guy that ran it ,Lovely bloke and so glad i went to have a few drinks with him in his bar on the old Soi Eric ) ,so i got a head start on the scams .Never once used a Tuk tuk in Patong 3 years running .Once after me and my ''Friend '' came out the Jungceylon shopping centre after watching a movie .The heavens opened .So i asked ''How much'' ..500 Baht 555 Thankfully the lady i was with as we walked the 3 Soi's to my hotel as drained rats saw the funny side of it ..Mafia the lot of them as most Jet Ski guys are also if you don't know the score .Did i mention ,I love Thailand 😁it needs pointing out and you have done it ,Fair play 👍👍Your kettle doesn't seem to boil bud 555 Brilliant 😂😂

It was about 50/50 on the Tuk tuk drivers between cool one and ones that looked like they wanted to fight.
Just hit Samui, rammed and expensive, still better than the UK :) :), will be moving around over next few months in a cloud of Gorilla Glue , nice vlog as always buddy, finally made it, all entry restrictions were scrapped last min, shocking U turn from G'ment (not complaining) all the best A

Phuket is the only place in Thailand that I hire a scooter, 250 Baht A day to get anywhere over the island I want. Yes I’m a licensed motorbike rider in Australia and I have a international drivers license as well
Good video Thai culture goes out the window when they get behind the wheel. The same lovely person that will do anything to help you normally will quite happily run you over when they get behind the wheel. Taxis all over the world are opportunistic nightmares

Re the Calvins and the pile of crap I'm guessing one of the cab drivers may have experienced an Optilrectomy. For those who don't know this sad condition, it is where one's optical nerve gets crossed with their rectal nerve, resulting in a crappy outlook on life. 🤣
