I confirmed that the M3 is what I wanted all along, that was close, now if I can just work out the colors.
One additional advantage of the Model Y is its HEPA filter (bio-weapon mode). One additional advantage of the Model 3 is that it is more efficient than the Y (slightly better for the environment and lower cost per mile for electricity).
The hepa filter is a gimmick in the Y. Many studies online about this.
Wait, I thought all Tesla's where clean and better for the environment?

Very nice video! Having switched recently from a Model 3 (which was totaled in an accident) to a new Model Y, this encapsulates the differences perfectly. I personally like the higher seating position on the Model Y as I can get more hours of driving in before my lower back starts to hurt. The rear space is also a significant improvement. I fit 4 people (including myself) with large luggage for a trip to the airport recently, and there was plenty of room for everything - and everyone.
I have a 21 long range model 3 and my wife has her 22 model 3 performance. We have roof top solar panels and are in heaven. Both vehicles are fantastic with very high quality. Super charging on long road trips is convenient with multiple chargers at a location and never more than 30 minutes to refill.The model 3 is quicker and rides better. It has a big trunk and with the rear seats down holds our bikes and lots of other stuff. My wife likes the higher seating in the Y and the luggage space is a lot bigger than the 3.

Definitely the smartest choice financially. A car's job is to take us from point A to point B. Civic or Model Y, they both do the same.
In fact, the $50,000 you save, you can throw in a 5% CD and earn $2500 every year to go on an international trip every year.

if you need a SUV, take Y, otherwise 3. Model Y has more space, Model 3 has much better driving dynamics. Exactly same way of choice when you choose between BMW X3 vs BMW 3.

I too have a 2021 Model 3 SR+, which I have found really ideal. My family (2 adults and 2 teenage boys) fit well in it. We’ve been on road trips (~500-600 miles, one way) with luggage and gear for 10 day vacations. I know CW says the SR+ is not adequate for road trips, so I enjoy proving that wrong! And I saved myself $10 grand getting the SR+ over the LR.

Update, adaptor for CCS is for sale in US and the Model Y now has brand new suspension that is not backward compatible since late Oct 2022.

The standard Model 3 rwd now comes with LFP batteries that you charge to 100% daily as opposed to 80% for NMC batteries on the other models
And LFP have a longer life span

Great review Upper! A Tesla rep called me last week and my 2022 Model 3 LR should be arriving in the next few weeks. I have a Tahoe as well so there was no need to the Model Y and the Model 3 should be ok for me. 👍🏽
The Lr with 18 inch tires I'm able to get around 310 miles driving 80. Also Lr with acceleration boost is 0-60 in 3.7 basically the same as model y performance. Model y performance subtracts one foot roll out. I have own 2 model 3s love it plus free charging places by me
It's a no-brainer! If you have the extra money, get the model Y. I owned both. Model 3 sits very low, and if you're a tall person, you know what that means. It's also a very bumpy ride especially on a not so smooth road..
I have a model 3 dual motor but wish it was a station wagon or hatch instead of a traditional trunk! 😊 Then I'd have the perfect Tesla. 😂❤

What about vibrations and how the two cars differs with holes on the road? I have a relative that mentioned he bought and sold the Model Y after just 4 months to get back to the M3 because of those.
Exactly why I decided on the M3. I like the look and storage capacity of the MY, but driving it was never as smooth as the M3 and my back let me know it!

I really wanted to trade in my 2018 LR Model 3 with FSD but then Tesla raised the price of FSD to $12,000 and had numerous price increases to their cars. I don't want to pay for the subscription FSD because you don't get the hardware upgrades, when they come available. But there is no way now I can afford a Model Y with FSD. And Tesla still hasn't added many more service centers for repairs that mobile service can't handle. The closest to me is still several hours away and when my car's warranty runs out later this year, things could get very expensive. So honestly, I can't recommend a Tesla to anyone anymore now.
One thing Calle, when closing the Frunk you only have to close and hold. You don't have to give it a push at the end like with a hood that has a locking latch. The Tesla has an electric latch.

I would chose a rear wheel Model 3 since it's pretty darn good as is and price is a major factor for me. We currently both drive an i3 with a Rex that we bought used at quite a discount. If I win the Lotto, I would get the long range version of both. The Model 3 for me and the Model Y for my wife. She prefers a hatchback because she does the grocery shopping and shuttles around the grandkids and dogs from time to time. 🙂

Here is something that anyone considering a Tesla needs to think about... I bought a Model 3 Performance in Oct 2021 and on 1/31/22 it was backed into by a person driving a Ford F-350 work truck (causing damage on the passenger side door which has multiple 12-18" gashes and window is shattered - held in place by safety glass/tint). My medium sized California city that is 70 miles away from the Fremont factory has one Tesla certified body shop and they initially said they wouldn't be able to start working on my car until the middle of May. I got lucky and they had a space open up so I was able to drop my car off on Tuesday 4/5/22. Unfortunately the body shop found additional broken parts after removing body panels and that has pushed the completion date to the end of April to beginning of May. That's basically 3-4 months I will end up not being able to drive my Tesla which only has a little over 3000 miles on it... and resale is probably going to take a hit. Don't get me started on the fiasco with the insurance companies...

I should get the Model 2, if Tesla makes it and if it''s 25k like reported. The 3 and Y are too expensive for most people, as are most EVs. Kudos to VW for having RWD and attempting reasonable prices. But a big raspberry to VW for not selling the ID3 in the US. And kudos to you for your great videos on overpriced Teslas.
With the inflation it will price around 35k to 40k.
Buy Model 3 used for less.

PSA. To anyone considering buying a Tesla this year: DO NOT believe the estimated date of delivery shown on the Tesla website.
Many people who placed orders in the past 3 months or so have estimated date’s of delivery of October into 2023 (M3 sr, and MY)
I ordered a performance in March and my EDD is July.
Expect at least 9 months to a year before you get your car. Elon himself said today on the earnings call that the backlog is very long.
