  • ROLAND UNVEILS NEXT-GENERATION FANTOM KEYBOARD SERIES
    Roland Fantom - gtrgtr.uk/Roland-Fantom
    All-New Expandable Keyboards Offer Fluid Workflow, Modeless Operation, Deep Computer Integration, and More
    Roland, a leading manufacturer and distributor of electronic musical instruments and professional video products, announces the flagship FANTOM lineup, an all-new series of professional keyboards for music production and live performance. Developed from the ground up for modern players, the next-generation FANTOM 6, FANTOM 7, and FANTOM 8 models fuse Roland’s latest synthesizer technologies with fluid operation, an intuitive color touchscreen, and deep computer integration. FANTOM instruments also offer superb playability, and feature rugged, tour-ready construction to meet the demands of everyday life on the road.
    Today’s professional keyboardists need an instrument that lets them compose and perform music with no creative roadblocks to slow them down. They also need to integrate seamlessly with the computer-based environments that form the backbone of modern stage and studio setups. FANTOM is designed to meet all these needs and more, giving players a new type of creative hub to realize ideas and accelerate workflow like never before.
    A key feature of FANTOM is its modeless interface, which makes technical limitations and confusing operation a thing of the past. Players never have to worry about what features work in which mode-FANTOM is always in full-on creative mode, providing a consistent working experience in every musical scenario. And with workspaces called Scenes, the instrument can be fully customized and instantly reconfigured for different composition and performance setups.
    FANTOM’s flexible and expandable sound engine leverages decades of research and development, providing an endless range of inspiring and authentic electronic, acoustic, and hybrid sounds. Players can combine different synthesis technologies along with the onboard analog filter for new and unusual sounds. There’s also an enormous selection of effects available to enhance individual sounds and process entire mixes.
    With FANTOM’s potent DSP engine, players can focus on music, not rationing processing power. It’s possible to run all 16 parts with all available effects at once, complete with full patch remain for seamless transitions. There’s never any guessing about how many effects are available, or if sounds can be changed smoothly without limiting complex patches.
    FANTOM models offer exceptional playability and aftertouch support with Roland’s best keyboards ever, including the acclaimed PHA-50 on the 88-key FANTOM 8 and a brand new semi-weighted action on the 76-key FANTOM 7 and 61-key FANTOM 6. In addition to the color touchscreen interface, there are plenty of knobs and sliders for intuitive and immediate control, plus a dedicated synthesizer section with oscillator, filter, and envelope controls.
    FANTOM is a complete music composition platform, filled with creative options to build arrangements fast. Available tools include RGB pads, a classic TR-REC style pattern sequencer, real-time recording with piano roll editing, and a grid for recording and launching clips.
    FANTOM excels as a standalone instrument, but its powers grow exponentially when connected to computers, analog synthesizers, and other gear. DAWs and performance software like Apple's Logic Pro and MainStage can be operated from the touchscreen and panel controls, and virtual instruments from Roland Cloud and others can be easily controlled and combined with FANTOM's internal sounds. It’s also possible to drive modular and analog synthesizers from its dual CV/Gate outputs.

    The envelope and filters real-time screen control graphic must be updated, it needs bigger knots on each segment. Also when you tweak many knobs the os shows only one rotary action and it overlaps the other causing jerky feedback. If I tweak 2 rotary or slider controllers the operating system must show 2 or more actions not just only one.

    Im a Roland Fantom user and tried it all from the first Fantom Fa 76, fantom X, fantom G, FA 06 and 08.. also an integra 7 user. All i can say about this new fantom, its great if you use it integrated with computer/VST.. Also the new controls makes it better.. but i still need to try it in person before deciding getting it which is i always do before buying a new synth.. in terms of sounds, theres really nothing new on sounds coz the sounds ive heard on this demo can be produced by any other synths/modules if you are only giving time on how to edit your ADSR( Advance delay sustain and release).. Lastly im still interested with this new synth. The outputs and new computer connections are great to have. The touch screen is not amZing coz we know this is old technology, even the korg trinity from the 90s has that touch screen already. Thanks Roland. i dont know if does it have a smooth transition? Hope it does coz you are too late.

      Strictly based on sound, the Integra 7 is still the best rompler Roland has made and it competes with every high end board. As far as controls and the desire to tweak away at controls, knobs, sliders, and have an onboard sequencer, this board is among the best....I don’t think it kills the Kronos or the montage, but it is up their with them each having their own pros and cons!

    • @amirprog

    • @johnnulf624
      @johnnulf624 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      vince wilson I can't give advice on the functionality of each, but I do know a little bit about the sounds from listening to a lot of demos. I can offer you my observations and my preferences, which will obviously be subjective.
      Roland's piano is modeled (basically an incredibly realistic synthesizer), unlike the Kronos piano which is sampled (recordings of an actual piano). A lot of people love the piano in Roland's RD2000 (which I'd assume is the same model you're getting with the new Fantom) but, personally, it sounds too clean to me. It's almost so balanced and dry that it lacks the character of a real piano (though it's convincing on the low and high end). It certainly doesn't sound bad by any means, and that clean sound might be great for certain applications. I just like to be able to close my eyes and feel like I'm in a room with a real piano when I listen. For me, Nord has the best pianos I've heard in this regard. The Kronos has one piano in particular that I really like the tonal characteristic of (although some might think it's too bright).
      Electric Pianos: I know Roland's are modeled, and I'm pretty sure the Kronos's are as well (double check on their website, I don't want to tell you wrong). Roland's sound okay to me (nothing that really jumps out, as with their pianos) but it'll get the job done. The demo's I've heard of the Kronos EP's sound great though. Has a nice punchy, bassy sound that feels like the real deal.
      Tonewheel organ: Roland seems to be missing something here. Perhaps it could be tweaked to sound better, but it feels a little thin. Listen for yourself though and come up with your own conclusion. I think the Kronos sounds good enough to work with, though I wouldn't mistake it for a real Hammond either.
      As for strings and brass, I can't really say much, other than that, I play an old Korg Triton at my church and even that sounds good to me for both sounds, so I'm sure the Kronos does just fine. The Roland probably does too, I just haven't heard as much of those sounds from it. What am I missing... choral sounds? Rolands have a really cool scat vocal sound that's super fun to play with. I'm sure they put it on the Fantom.
      I'd be rambling if I went any further, but hopefully that helps a little. Acoustic/acousto-electric sounds are super important to me, so I tend to be critical on those. The Roland is nothing to spit on, I just personally find it to lack the character of sound that I'm looking for on certain instruments. Some people will prefer it though, and say it sounds more balanced. It's up to you to decide what sounds good to your ears.

    • @FranciscoDiazMusic
      @FranciscoDiazMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recommend the Kronos. You get amazing sounds all across the board on all sound types. Based on what Ive seen, the fantom is aimed more to musicians that make house/dance music, electronic, synth based music. With the Kronos, I record a bass track with guitar and drums on the sequencer and it sounds legit like if I had an actual bass, guitar, and drum player playing live. You get a realistic sound. The pianos and organs are amazing as well. The Kronos is the best board ive ever owned. I got 2. Once you get your hands on a Kronos you will understand why korg hasn’t upgraded in the past 9 years. Its just well built. Korg got ahead of the game when they released it. I’ve been looking at these video reviews of the new fantom and I haven’t seen anything that makes it stand out above the Kronos.
