Great video. One of the best I've seen on ceiling repair; Thorough and simple to understand. Thanks!!!

Great video, very well explained. However, I would have liked to learn about taping and mudding, given all the different muds and techniques out there. Especially given how well you explained the first part.

Gotta say, I was really looking forward to seeing how you taped, mudded, skim coated and sanded. Otherwise, good video

I have a hole at least that big due to a contractor almost falling through and am now waiting for them to fix it. I wondered about how it's done and you've made it look easy enough, thank you for that, but these guys have to deal with fiber glass plus blown in insulation, which is going to just create a huge mess, which I've already cleaned up from the start. Not looking forward to it getting fixed but it has to be done. I hope they do as good a job as you have.

I like the support you used to lift it up there and secure it. Say the builders at my house struggle. It was very long dry wall. Needed 3 people. I ha e some spare dry wall and was looking to do it myself although idk what I'm getting g myself into and I don't know where to start as your video already missed this part.

Im just curious as to why you used the furring strips instead of just mounting the drywall directly to the joists?

Why wouldn't you find the tape joints for the 4x8 piece and just replace the entirety, retape, mud and go? No cuts, no fuss no muss😊

Exactly. Instead of mudding, patching, sanding and creating a huge ugly bulge in the ceiling.

I'm lazy. Cutting out the existing drywall with a drywall knife or saw takes a lot of time. I use my dewalt 20V 4 1/2" circular saw, with vacuum attached, to cut a quick, clean and straight line. For a small job, I use the dust bag on the vacuum. Also, there is a drywall screw bit, for your impact driver, that will set the screw the correct depth without over driving. it is a Drywall Screw Setter PH2 Bit.

I was upstairs and slipped and almost fell through my ceiling. Needless to say, a repair is at hand. I was going to get my cousin to take of it since he was a builder. But with your steps, I believe I can manage. I appreciate the step-by-step sir.

Why not just cut a bit more to expose half the joist and screw the new dry wall to the joist, seems a lot cleaner that way.

This was a good beginning video, but then you glossed over and completely skipped how to finish the ceiling. You mention "mudding," but don't show or explain what that is or how to do it.
I really appreciate your attention to detail in the parts you did go into, though! I have an entire panel in my garage that I need to replace, but don't know how to "connect" the pieces. It looks like there's some kind of tape, but I don't know what it is... Hence my resorting to TH-cam videos to try to learn. I'd love your feedback or any references to other videos that might help!

You can use drywall tape that is solid but typical people use the type that’s meshed which is fiba tape. Thanks for the feedback on the video!!!

You have to have a solid piece of wood to mount the edge otherwise it will crack at the seams.
