Just imagine…. Schmidt coaches Wallabies and wins Bledisloe Cup for first time since 2002. Even as an AB fan, I would love this scenario. Because a) we need Aussie to be strong again b) Schmidt should have been kept in AB mix

Coaches can do only so much….player abilty, attitude, willingness to excell…. Plus more things makes a coach successful. Your thoughts Mark ?

Agree, I would also add in there, their ability to be able to work within the organization structure that they are employed into, we have seen over the years how this has impacted the success or otherwise of coaches.

Australia Rugby have a history of showing total disrespect for New Zealand coaches. Who in their right mind would want this job. Most Aussies are nice people. They just don’t have the concept of how to do as they are told

Have you heard any new info on the supposed move by Owen Farrell to club rugby in France, supposed to be leaving saracens for racing 92.

Well he got the job and Rugby Australia couldn't be more fortunate to have him. He's been given 2 years to put things in place as well win so it's still a tall order but Joe's a very good choice. I figure unless Joe's popular with everyone and I mean everyone they could keep him on to '27 otherwise he'll just have the job of building infrastructure so an aussie can come in take the team to the world cup.

Hey Fred, thanks for the comment. Check out my new video today where I go into this topic in a little deeper detail and suggest what Joe needs and who ha has around him to make this a potential successful campaign.

I think Declan Kidney would be a good candidate for Australia, ex Ireland and Munster coach.

    A few points:
There’s maybe more than lip-service regarding positive change in Australian Rugby set-up regarding pathways, integration of high performance strategies in coaching and skills.
The Old Boys’ Club lost a lot of credibility as a consequence of the Hamish&Eddie Jones fiasco.
I heard that Joe Schmidt’s family commitments may the biggest obstacle between him and the Wallabies Head Coach position.
Apparently Michael Cheika is free. I personally don’t want him as Wallabies Coach again. Let him pursue an NRL role.

Gregory, thanks for jumping in on this one. 2024 will be a big year for Australian Rugby, maybe more important than any before. Lets see what eventuates on and off the field and then judge.

rugby in Australia is the poor cousin and will stay that way. Administration at National and State level is all inbreed private school thinking - a smart non Aussie career coach would look else where.

Thanks for sharing your opinion mate, I will respectfully disagree. If Paddle Ball can flourish in Oz then rugby certainly can. What the game needs in Australia is people who know how to run a domestic and global business. Not just ex Wallabies and mates of mates who think they know. My opinion :-)
