Pisa

Pisa is a city in the Toscana (Tuscany) region in central Italy. Situated 50 miles (80 km) west of Florence, on the alluvial plain of the Arno River, the city is roughly 6 miles (10 km) from the Ligurian Sea. The legacy of Pisa as a Maritime Republic that was, for a considerable amount of time, the unchallenged ruler of the Mediterranean is preserved through monuments, museums, and magnificent structures of immeasurable creative significance.
Pisa is still a vibrant, youthful city where the past and present coexist, as evidenced by its title Queen of Studies, bestowed upon it by the Florentines. It is also one of Italy's most beloved artistic cities.
