- #rickygervais #stevemerchant #karlpilkington Fall Asleep to Ricky Gervais Steven Merchant And Karl Pilkington XFM Show Series 2 Episodes 21-24
Gervais and Merchant returned to Xfm in August 2001, after the first series of The Office had been broadcast. However, the earliest surviving radio broadcasts are from November. Xfm brought in Pilkington as producer.[8] The show was originally just billed as Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, and Karl's presence was not acknowledged on posters and other advertisements. Gervais and Merchant would speak to Karl about his thoughts on whatever they were talking about. In 2003 Pilkington was officially added to advertisements for the show as over the years Karl's role on the show became more prominent as Ricky and Steve were finding more amusement with his views and personal life. As the producer, Karl had input with features such as Rockbusters, Songs of Phrase, Do We Need 'em, Knob News, Cheeky Freak of the Week, Monkey News and Educating Ricky. Their last show for XFM aired on 2 July 2005, after which they chose to switch the show's format from radio to podcasting.

Hope he dumped u
22:50 "and then he went too far, and made himself sound like a fool again."
Definitely one of the more underrated moments from these three lol
8:15 Classic Steve stitch up by Karl
"Ask Ricky tomorrow" always makes me lose it. Suzanne has the patience of a saint 😭
I would love a remake of Rain Man with Ricky and Karl as the leads.
2:07:30 - 2:09:00 where Rick's gon' mental 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️❤️
“Like that” on the radio 😂
3:16:00 I really lost it at the monkey named “Crap”
Love
Karl's acting was brilliant on "The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe" playing the policeman interviewing one of them in episode 3.

Io the
"PG tips" is unmatched in terms of wit. 1:07:54.
2:07:30 - cheeky Del! And to me this shows what they thought of OFAH - shize!
2:36:00 Karl talks about Body Odour in B.O and used it for BOw (within Rainbow) and I've used BO as a quiet way of informing friends they smell, usually repeated with scaled severity
"Bo bro"
"Just a bit of Bo"
"Mojo BoBo"
"B-b-bo bo, bo bo. b-b-b-b-bo bo bo [Ghostbusters theme]"
That's actually genius. Karl was definitely just BSing to make the clue work though lol
We say "BOW" and in "BO" and always have, not sure what their gripe is
35:00 that marine biologist sounds remarkably like Ricky....
Exactly what I was going to comment. Is that Ricky on a voice changer? Many of the exact same phrases and patterns of speech that Ricky uses. I’d be really disappointed if that was Ricky pretending to be someone else, as that would throw the legitimacy of the whole show into question for me.
@@andrewmay1299 I don't think so. Ricky in one episode couldn't even be bothered doing some decent voice overs for Karl, so I doubt he would spend his time to record a whole conversation. But you never know.
@@andrewmay1299 legitimacy of the whole show? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 It's comedy don't make it all so dramatic, who cares if it's Ricky or not
@Brett pilkington - are you serious? There’s a big difference between ‘here’s Karl being himself and having a genuine discussion with a member of the public’ and ‘here’s Karl and Ricky acting, in a scripted scene.’ Both would be attempts at comedy, but both very different, and it’s important for the listener to know the difference and not be misled.
@@andrewmay1299 do you think Karl believes there was a monkey bank robber? A lot of it is planned but it's still hilarious
PURPLE PEOPLE EATER , SHEB WOOLEY 1958
1:50:19- 1:50:40 The Smiths, 'Ask'.
Great song and Band.
Taken by speilburg, is more a documentary than fiction.
John's got a moustache

Anyone else like to think Karl was playing a character right from the get go? I would love it if that were true
Not a character, but he was a diamond who kept himself deliberately unpolished.
Yes, and this is definitely the case, although it seems only 1 per cent of listeners realize this.
GZ on being a people person.
@@peterbach1126 it's far fetched, no? And what does GZ mean
@peterbach1126 no it isn't. ask anyone who's met him, he's the exact same. even Warrick said the same
I don’t think so. Ricky and Steve have been accused of “creating” Karl’s character. They’re both great comedic writers, but no one’s this damn good.

You can tell by the way Karl pronounces
da Vinci, that he's never even heard of him.....
Aborigians too!
Unbelievable😲
What a mong😆
I wanted to make a parody relating to Karl to the song Head Like a Hole by Nine Inch Nails but nothing rhymes with orange so I didn't get very far
Yeah I suppose the cure for ignorance is money eh?
Shallow 🤷♂️
Oh, and he didn't make a name for himself, Ricky Gervais did!!
😏
Who's bitter?
I'll let you be happy for him as you seem to really like him🤩
You never know he may be available by now, unless Suzanne's still putting up with him😆
Still bitter @@tyroon81 🤣
To be fair i thought the office was dire, even in the early 00s. It had a couple of good moments like big Keith's appraisal but other than that it was pretty substandard. I tried watching it again a few years ago, i managed only 3 episodes before i gave up again. And no, I'm not some American who doesn't get British humour, I am British
This is the song Karl is talking about: th-cam.com/video/5jV-E09efRE/w-d-xo.html
I’m convinced that it’s Ricky that Karl is speaking to in Do We Need Them, listen back to it and it sounds identical to him
Was thinking that
Sounds completely different lol
That thought did cross my mind
Where in the video?
I got mad love for Karl but RockBusters is so Wack
And did Steve smack Karl WOW
What a episode
These are Awesome
It's like The Ricky Gervais Show Extended Version
FANNYBAWS!!!!
One of the things I find incredible about Karl, which I haven't seen discussed much: He doesn't have any regrets from his childhood.
That may not seem that mental, but think about how much of a twat you were as a teenager, how embarrassing it is to think about what you were like back then.
Karl doesn't have any of that! He still stands behind every decision he made as a kid. Dumping a girl for crying over her dress, nicking Mars bars from his boss on his paper round, he's still pretty much the same person.
I could go on about what that says about him as a person but this comment is already too long and pointless lol
Karl’s stories are almost always 40-70% valid as it turns out.
But then they just always pull a straw man.
They are way too narrow-mindedly “scientific.”
Luckily, Rick has expanded his mind since then.
“Almost always half valid” - that’s quite a statement. I wonder why they take the piss science wise.
Goldfishes memories are actually better than some people think!

The story Karl didn't finish about Easter Island (Rapa Nui) and an Egg. The man isn't always stupid. Ricky is stupid too.
