  • Sensational ride from the Bruthen-Buchan Rd (sealed), then from Buchan to the start of Snowy River Rd (Gelantipy Rd -- sealed). Then taking the Snowy River Rd (Vic) (dirt) which becomes Barry Way (NSW) (dirt). Finally into Jindy before taking back roads to Cooma.
    Highly recommend this ride.

Thanks for the memories 😊 we left our caravan in Jindabyne and did Barry Way in a Landcruiser. Must say the ❤ was in the mouth a coupla times from the drop-off on our right, but worth it in every way! Views and nature all the way, so beautiful. Saw plenty of white water tours going down the Snowy in kayaks and really envied them...until we dipped our toes in the chilly water 😂 Thanks for preserving this run for posterity...not only for yourselves but for others like us who didn't film it ❤❤❤

Thanks. We usually do a bit of research to plan rides and find that sort of info is good for others looking for similar rides. That area is amazing.

Very informative video David & Toni. Well captured with the videography and photography. Well narrated by David, full of informative advice on locations and bits of historical detail on stops and points of interest along the way. Thanks for sharing. It would be nice to get down that way in the near future. Ride safe and hope to see you soon.

Thanks Chris, looking forward to catching up for a ride again with you and Keryn. Would have been great for you both to join us on the VIC trip - next time. Few more to be added next time, already planning!

Top spot, I highly recommend staying at Karoondapark in Gelantipy if you get a chance.

    Great series of videos. THANKS.
I am doing this road in the opposite direction in late October 2024 on my 2017 BMW R1200GS Rallye, and was wondering if you could give some advice.
I currently have Pirelli Angle Gt2s on, but am thinking that they won't be able to handle the 90klm of dirt on this road. I have a super sports background and love scraping my boots on corners... even on the GS. I'm thinking of Pirelli Scorpion 2 tyres for this 8500klm trip over 21 days from Brisbane. Thoughts?
Also as you seem to know these roads quite well... I'm hopeful that we won't encounter any snow.. should we be ok or worried?
Our group size will be 8 riders max.

Haven't ridden on the Scorpion Trail IIs but would think they'd be much like the Anakee Adventures which we ran a few sets on. Great on road and good on dry gravel roads. Our front Michelins wouldn't get 8500km (more like 6000), especially after riding the Omeo Hwy. We changed to Mitas E07+ which seem to be great all-round tyres but better on Gravel. Front gets heaps of Ks and the rear gets around 8-9000.
Snow is seasonal - should be good on this route, but you won't know for sure until October.
The last bunch of rides we've done in Tassie and Victoria have been with my brother who also lives in Qld and he loves his 80/20s but believes in dropping the tyre pressure. Enjoy!

Did you do this in a day

Yes, we started from Bairnsdale. We don't ride fast, especially on dirt/gravel and stop for photos, etc. So a 'normal' days ride.
