    man, all the screaming just made me smile and so excited watching this lil girl dance. I'm part samoan, never met my samoan side of the family neither my dad and recently i just found them on the internet... and this just makes me feel so lucky to have samoan blood.. that was a beautiful dance :) i love learning about the samoan culture, it's just so beautiful..

    Don't worry just continue doing what you do best.These peeps leaving negative comments are just envy by how graceful and beautiful you represent the Samoan culture and art.If ask to perform they'll probably run away or look ferocious like they are doing Karate moves
    or staring a cat to death hahahahah!!!!

    I'm sure she's not used to dancing the Samoan way but give our kids credit for trying and representing our heritage!!! Don't hate because she had shoes on or whatnot! Dislike the fact that you, yourself is hating is hating on a child that DOESN'T have do the dance at all!!! Great job little one!! You did your thing on that floor and I, for one am proud of you!!

    Indeed, a beautiful and graceful young lady. Excellent body control and an elegant smile are her best qualities as a Polynesian Dancer. Ms Beautiful, an excellent performance! May you grow up receiving a double portion (a Blessing) of grace and of elegance; thus, contributing continously to the future of this unspoken language in the arts. Many thanks for a "beautiful and magical" moment; for me - it's truly worth of praise.

    I give credit to her for trying and representing our Samoan culture by performing her Taualuga dance. Most of us Samoan always judge when someone makes mistakes.This young and beautiful girl did what is best from her heart. I don't care if it wasn't her best performance, but she was a proud young Samoan lady who admires her Samoan Culture. Well, at least she got paid for that performance. She will learn more about the Samoan Taualuga dance and get better at it.

    hahahahahaha oh my goodness its true what they say " it not what you do it's how you do it " this was truely awesum for a girl that age, she's a credit to her family and her upbringing, great performance for sure. I'a o ou mama na o ou manu na!

    There will always be people hiding behind their computer screens with their negative comments.
    I commend you for a beautiful dance. I admire your courage and your passion to continue and practice your culture outside of Samoa. I loved this. Keep it up.
    And to those who dislike this, your entitled to your own opinion. But if you think you can do better than post up a video to prove it. If not, sit back and encourage others.

    You know what growing up in Samoa everyone had their own version of the Taualuga and its traditional moves. Performing for a non Samoan crowd who didnt know any better, who didnt care that you were wearing socks, must have said the same thing I did...Graceful,beautiful, and Awsome!! Keep dancing young lady dont let anyone discourage you from your heritage and culture.

    I love the Samoan culture. My only comment, and please don't take it in a wrong way, the Samoan dance and its movement is been around for ages. Yes, you can make some changes with the moves but not to the extent where it can change its meaning and its originality losses its taste. If I am Samoan, I will be proud to represent my culture and stick to the tradition and carry on with the legacy of our forefathers, high chief, etc.
    Critique: Polynesian dancers never wear socks when dancing.

    You did a great job sweet girl. You were graceful in most of your hand movements and you put your own flavor in to this siva samoa. I liked your movement for the beginning of the song, something different instead of the regular sway from side to side. Well done, keep it up.

    Well done girl. Beautiful siva, it brought tears to my eyes seeing that you're brought up in Alaska and you're keeping the Samoan siva alive! Malo lava and proud of you and don't even know you ha! Practice makes perfect so keep at it girl and then you won't have to concentrate too hard on the actions but it will flow naturally as you listen to the song and dance what comes to you. You have the grace so keep it up and you'll be a natural siva dancer. Practise at home to ur Samoan songs:)

    Well I just saw your video and must say..I really enjoyed it...it was with grace and beauty, love the puletasi outfit..and one of the best i've seen perform and im sure there are others out there who does just as wonderfully as u..so don't fret...and to the one abusing the scripture if I were you I would look into what that really entails...the scripture plainly speaks about God's word not being thrown to those who will not except or even throw is word away...NOT HER PERFORMANCE!!

    She's young and still learning so I'll give her credit for even taking an interest in learning the art of the Samoan Siva. I am disappointed with the choreographer though. Some of the choreography is clearly not Samoan. You might argue that it's modern, but tacky is not modern. Like all our customs and traditions, they cannot be tampered or altered. They can only be accentuated or exaggerated. We Samoan love the flair but we keep it conservative for the most part.... " the Samoan Siva is perfect as it is" stop trying to bedazzle art!"

    @sagalei Why there are so many changes in our culture and way of life that are accepted now a days. The values are still remain the same but the mechanics and practice are adjusted accordingly. It is a fact of life that we live to appreciate. On the other hand, I respect your view and values hopefully you mean the core values demonstrate in our dance not the technicality.

    @ticklemetoejam Thanks for your comments but I just want to clarify a misunderstanding on the claim as the best Samoan dance. Actually I didn't claim my performance as the best, it was the best performance in our talent show and it so happen that I performed a Samoan dance. I know there are other better performance of our traditional dance out there but I just started and hopefully develop into a better one.

  • @venisapolu871

    @ahfook .. nodding head is not a Tongan thing, Samoan & Tongan use it.. prolly you dont know that.. it shows respect, gracefull and elegant of the taupou. It's a part of the siva Samoa...

  • @lisalevy1000
    @lisalevy1000 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    um I think she did a great job for someone who was coached. Alot of samoans girls cant even this. I am very happy to see our dance loved and taught anywhere in the world. @ ahfookt be nice, are u 13 too?

  • @TheFaafetai
    @TheFaafetai  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Isn't that throwing your opinion on the net reflect your personality and citizenship. I took criticism with great respect as long as for improvement and development not just being ignorant. As for the record, I really don't care about what people say because no one is an expert or original about our dance. The world is forever changing and so to our art of performing. If you really want to keep everything as the way it was then that is your take and I respect you for it.

    @ahfookt You're right this dance might not have been her best but she tried. She does need to learn a few more things. As for the head nodding that's also a Samoan action in our dances. I know, I've done a lot of taualugas back in Samoa.

  • @TheFaafetai
    @TheFaafetai  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @KIWIBOY6 This is a traditional song of Falealili village in Samoa. It 's a patriotic call for the village members all over the world that their heroic reputation speaks volume.

  • @TheFaafetai
    @TheFaafetai  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would like to take few words to elaborate more on my performance as numbers of comments I read mistakenly view this dance as a Samoan Taualuga. This is a song performance siva just like many of the group dance prescribing according to the lyrics. The base of action is the ava preparation of the Taupou and the Tufa'ava with aumaga behind the afa. The interval action is the songs lyrics movement. Hope this will clear some misunderstanding on the general viewers. Thanks,

    @187samoa Thank you I greatly appreciated. Oh, Merry Christmas to you and the family in that part of the world. I understand the demographic of different perspectives but that doesn't affect because I am proud to be a Samoan. I wish all my people either for or against our traditional mainly Samoan Dance would voice their opinion in a Samoan manner --respectful. That is what makes us unique in representation of our culture. Thank you for your dedication in serving for all of us here.
