    A great insight into your working life which so many of us never get chance to see beyond the "flight" - really insightful and informative. Sincere condolences on the loss of your former colleague.

      You are right! I guess to most people, Flight Attendants are just “part of the plane” haha we live in it, sleep in it and don’t exist outside of this aircraft! There are a lot of thing going on behind the scenes that people don’t get to see! (And sadly I can’t show a lot of it!!) thank you for your thoughts… we lost a beautiful soul, a kind and smart woman. She will be dearly missed.

      .. and thank you for the beautiful message you put out there in honor of your former colleague, Phil .. i'll bet you helped more people than you realized with that. Big hug for you .. i know that had to be so difficult for you to record.

      @@N145PM honestly… it was such a hard day to be recording a video. I almost scrapped the whole video altogether! I usually film my videos in a positive and joyful headspace, but on that day it was the total opposite. I felt at a loss and didn’t know what direction this video would take. Even when I re-watch this segment, it still feels heavy in my heart. My intention was not to “put it out there for drama values” and try to gain sympathy from strangers or anything like that. I chose to keep on going because that’s part of life, and like you said, if that helped ONE person, then I feel proud to have kept on pushing for this important message to see the light of day!

      @@TheBlizzardFlyer You just showed us all another side of yourself, Phil ... i think that show of your feelings and emotions just made all of us like you even more! Much respect for you for continuing with the vid in spite of how you were feeling .. very clear you're a very strong (and caring) person!

      PS: I'm sure that if you were travelling on a plane with a dirty toilet, that's all you would remember of your experience and it would for sure tarnish your opinion on the airline! and besides.... it might be selfish but I, for sure, wasn't going to spend my day in a smelly plane! haha

      @@TheBlizzardFlyer oh god, i remember it well ... the airline i flew for had Fokker F27s (same size as your Dash 8-300s) and the lavs were just a toilet seat over a tank, basically .. no flushing ... it all just sat in there sloshing around till the lav was dumped (never often enough) ... and in the summertime .... oh yea .. i know exactly the awful stank you were talking about! LOL! ;)

    Interesting take on what you call Shepard Pie. here in the U.K. a Shepards Pie is mince, diced onions, garlic, garden peas and carrots, and gravey topped off with mashed potato. But I will give your version a try if you try our version.

    • @TheBlizzardFlyer
      @TheBlizzardFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes! This is the french Canadian spin on it. it's also called "pâté chinois" which translates into "Chinese pot pie" although we don't use that name in english. the story behind that is that when the canadian railways were being built, there were lots of asians working on the tracks and they were fed a dish similar to shepherd's pie but instead of onions/garlic/peas and carrots, they used corn because it was cheaper. Remember that Canada has been torn between the French and English, therefore a lot of our culture and cuisine is a blend of both :)

    • @TheBlizzardFlyer
      @TheBlizzardFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      also... I have tried the British (and original) version of Shepherd's pie back in the UK and I have to admit it's pretty darn good!

    Love, Love, Love...that you went where few Flight Attendant vloggers have gone! The Lav that has gone vile! Good for you that you would not board passengers before things were cleaned up! I notice as a passenger, some F/a's feel that the LAV is not their problem... if the passengers made a mess, they can poop in the LAV their cohorts messed up. I'm not sure what different airlines do in training and what the expectation is of F/a's in-flight to keep the LAV reasonably under control. I guess on the 737-200combi you do have a dedicated crew Lav at L1. :)
    In an unrelated comment... When you travel north do you have any concerns about TB exposure on the aircraft? Does your company address in training the prevalence of TB in the north and use of PPE if required? (Pre Covid-19)

    • @TheBlizzardFlyer
      @TheBlizzardFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! That lav was horrible! It’s just common sense to refuse boarding until it’s been fixed I guess lol! We do have the fwd lav available but only the pilots use it in a combi configuration as we’d have to cross the cargo cabin as well as the barrier net…. So it’s pretty hard to access so we just don’t bother haha!
      As for TB, it is a real issue up north and we definitely are kept aware of this. In all my years in the north I’ve only known of 1 person contracting TB and it was a ramp agent in Kuujjuaq. There is definitely TB awareness but we don’t have specific procedures in that regard.

    I want to come to your house for dinner!.Sorry to hear about your ex colleague.I thought it was 1 flight attendant per 50 pax,how come you have two for 24 pax?.Regards from Yorkshire,England.

    • @TheBlizzardFlyer
      @TheBlizzardFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you. We lost a smart, kind and beautiful soul.
      In Canada, the ratio is 1 F/A for 40 pax but a flight attendant is required for each set of « floor level exits »(meaning actual doors), however exemptions are available to use 1/50 but my airline did not request that. There is also « aircraft certification » that comes into play. For example the Dash8 has been certified as a single F/A aircraft even if it has more than 40 seats. As for the 737, because it has 2 sets of floor level exits (front and back set of doors), even if they are not accessible by passengers when used in combi configuration, we are required to carry a F/A for each. So basically 1-80 passengers is 2 F/A’s :)
