Good, articulate review. I would have appreciated some remarks on size. My jacket size is 38. A Barbour sizing chart suggested a medium. The Ashby that I own (and love) is XS. Even the S was too big for me. I recommend trying on the Barbour of your choice in a store to eliminate disappointment with regard to size.

I have the same one. The color is more black than navy blue. What shirt and pants would go best with this jacket ? Thanks in advance.

I usually do either a sweater and casual trousers (chinos, denim, moleskin) or a tweed sport coat.

Good review man! This is the not made in England jacket (of the big 3 you mentioned) right? If I remember correctly, it has a different sleeve lining than the bedale & Beaufort right. Thoughts on that?

Here's an interesting article on how most of Barbour's line are made outside the UK: outdoorfavor.com/where-are-barbour-jackets-made/ I suppose they keep the Bedale and Beaufort British made for branding/tradition. I do like British made items like those from Private White and Crockett and Jones, but I am also wary about judging British quality as better than other countries. It really depends on the factory or tailor. There are excellent quality Japanese/Chinese shoes and tailoring, for instance.

A versatile jacket. Is it high maintenance due to keeping it waxed?

I have owned it for a few years and haven't had to rewax it yet. I bought the tin of wax last year because I saw a spot that looked like it needed wax, but it turned out just to be dirty and washed off in the rain. Therefore, so far, no need to wax. When the time comes, it doesn't seem too difficult though it can also be sent to Barbour to do it for you.

Hi, I would like to buy my first Barbour Jacket and I'm oriented toward the Ashby one.
I'm about 143,30 lbs (65kg) and 5'8"(173 cm) feet tall.
Which size would you suggest me?

I would look at their measurements and compare to a jacket that you own. That's the safest. Or if you can find a place to try it on in person.

I’ve bought this in 2XL around 5”9 and around 23 stone will this be too small?

Best to compare measurements to something you own that fits well. If they're the same/similar you should be ok
