Precise, so informative, direct to the point of the game at hand, EXCATLY what it should be and I THANK YOU! How many (TOO many) other videos are so full of IRRELIVANT(sp) information, talk, chat, info about other games that are like this, or other games that do this do that, etc. Your vids will get my game to the table, and I thank you!
This is the best publicity for the B17 Flying Fortress Leader Board Game. Makes learning the game a whole lot easier 👍. Also love the immersive WWII footage used in the video.
I have watched the first four videos so far and I have to say, this may be the best playthrough I have ever seen on TH-cam. The way you have completed these videos is incredible. Make sure you post on boardgamegeek so other see this. I subscribed immediately after watching. I think you should do Warfighter WWII Pacific next. I will be watching for more great game play videos from you.
Thank you very much, Suvorov, and thanks for subscribing. I'm humbled by your praise and appreciate your kind words. I wanted to do this particular game justice as I find it a lot of fun and a good design. I'm glad to see that, at least in this little corner of the internet, people are enjoying it and getting something out of it. I don't know if I'll do the Warfighter series, at least not now, as it doesn't seem quite my cup of tea though I'll never say "no" to trying a new game! I'm no grognard as I only have about 7-8 board games. I'm a little picky and consider myself "wargamer lite". Regardless, if I come across another game in the future that catches my eye such as B-17:FFL, you can bet I'll be putting up more videos. :)
Thank you!!!! Been playing Stuka Leader, picked it up a couple weeks ago and I love it. This one looks great too, I like how different it seems from Stuka Leadin".
Just picked up a copy of this game, , and it looks super chunky and awesome. I loved B-17 Queen of the Skies and Hornet and Apache/T-bolt Leader as a kids, and this game looks amazing. I haven't even Gone through the rules yet, but I'm glad I watched this video first. It makes me feel confident that it's not as daunting as it looks at first, and I plan to have a lot of fun with this title. That's for the great play throughs!
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying them. I hope they help! I do have another DVG game in the works but it may be a little while before I put it up on the channel Real life, and all that. :)
New to the channel, direct from your No Enemies Here feature. I own B17 and played through 2 campaigns last year, so decided to watch the first few of your B17 videos today. I`m glad I did! Wow, you did a GREAT job. Great graphics, clear and concise narration of the missions, your decisions and results and not forgetting a great sense of humour. Definitelty the next Stuka Jo in the making! Looking forward to watching more of your work. Salutes!
Thank you for the kind words, Mark! I always try to be as clear as possible when explaining the rules so I'm glad you found that aspect of these videos to your liking. More to come in B-17 as well, just took a small detour with Interceptor Ace for the moment. :)
Great video showing the campaign start and mission execution. Love the special effects. There are a couple of rules errors in the video. 2:33 Luftwaffe Squadron Reassignment: Great explanation, however this step is only done at the end of each month, and shouldn't be done at the start of the game. 7:30 Initial Groups: The asterisk denotes the level for starting groups that are above the total number of initial groups. For example, if you would have purchased 5 groups at the start of this Campaign, the fifth group (and all other starting groups after 5) would be Green. All groups purchased after the start of the game come in as Recruit, although you can spend 4 SO points to increase their skill level to Green. 12:12 U-Boat Counter Placement: The U-Boat counters can stay in the U-Boats hex on the map and are not placed in the ETO section. Only ETO targets for the Allied Invasion Campaign are placed there. 13:05 Weekly SO Points: You do get the Weekly SO points for the 1st week of the Campaign. The groups purchased at the start of the Campaign is done per step 3.9. After the Campaign setup is complete (section 3), you then start the Weekly Sequence of Play. 13:57 Experience Points: For each mission, your groups get 1 experience point. If the target is destroyed, then each group gets an additional 1 experience point only (including the lead bomber group). A group gains an additional experience point for each bandit destroyed during the mission. Looking forward to the next video! Great job.
Thank you, Dean for taking the time to break down those key rules. Really helps a lot. In my next video, I'll incorporate as many of these clarifications as I can. I want to be as accurate as possible when showcasing the game. And thank you and DVG for creating such a fun game! I really enjoy it. :)
I'm trying to find in the rules fighter group experience points. Do they get points if the bombing target was destroyed? Or only when they shoot down a bandit? Plus, of course, the one point for going on a mission.
Good job there Poindexter. You made this wargame seem easier and more streamlined than could be expected. Enjoyed the play-through. Well-done. Looking for more in the future, hopefully. I know its a lot of effort on your part.
Thanks, JS! I'm glad you find these videos useful. That's why I wanted to make them...to showcase this really fun game. It does take a little time to put them together but not too much. It's still fun to do so there are definitely more coming. I plan to finish out my current campaign.
Thank you for the playthrough! Super high quality! One small error: I think on the log sheet, the "Promotion XP" column is meant to indicate the number of XPs needed for the next level, whereas the Group XPs column is for when you gain XP. In the video I think you have it the other way. I know, very minor :)
Hi just wondering If you could you help me please. If I have one bomber group on a mission as the lead because an event card took away my escort If I draw 3 enemy squardrons. Do I put one back in the cup as its says only 2 fighters can attack one bomber at a time ? Also do flak from the cup automatically attack a bomber. Thank you
I would say "probably". If the subject matter is in your area of interest, I'd give it a hearty recommendation. This particular Leader game has the "core" of the earlier games but does do some things differently. In other words, it's similar but not a straight "port" of your typical Leader game. That said, having played other games in the series, this one is my favorite. But, I am partial to the subject matter. If you decide to start with this one it won't be that much different that others in the series so you should be able to pick up other games in the series fairly quickly. Good luck!
Hi. Fantastic play through videos helping me a hell of alot 👍 can I ask a question about secondary events. When it asks to draw 5 transportation cards do I put all the supply count on the supply track ? Thanks
This seals it for me. I’ve been considering B17 in the “Leader” series, but after watching this I’m convinced that this is a board game that I don’t want. Other than tabulating points there is no strategic end game. The game dictates what targets you have to hit or risk a “dismal” rating. And I abhor games that require the use of consumables, ie. hand written log sheets. I just saved $150.00. 👍
Well, this game isn't for everybody and I've read similar comments about the "Leader" series. That's perfectly fine. I'm glad, at least, the videos helped you make up your mind which is what I always intended them to do. Thanks for your comment and your honesty. :)
Stuka Joe on steroids?! Man, I'm not worthy! His videos were definitely a major inspiration for these videos, no doubt. I'm glad you rate me in such good company. :) I only have two Leader games: this one and Hornet Leader which I bought used many years ago. This one would be my favorite since it is WW2, though Hornet Leader is great fun. And, I just got my copy of Corsair Leader a couple of weeks ago! Been pouring through the players guide trying to wrap my head around the dogfight rules which are new to Leader games. But I'm sure I will enjoy Corsair too, as my favorite WW2 theater is the Pacific. Thanks for the kind words and for watching!

Great videos Poindexter! I was reading the forum on BGG for B-17 FFL that you sell the Tabletop Simulator mod that you are using for this video. Is this true? If so, where do I sign? lol
Thank you, Brent! No, I don't sell B-17FFL on Tabletop Simulator. The game I'm playing is "local" and not uploaded to a site for Tabletop Simulator use. I believe the reassignment was improperly done during set up. This is meant to be done only during the game to rebalance. Great video though.
