Good review just subd 👍 Yes it's a Comfortable ride I've put 2000 + Kms on my X26 in 6 weeks But I prefer long distance riding from the rear seat - beach cruiser style , works ok with a aftermarket handlebar 130mm extension to give laid back riding position. X26 Problems in 6 weeks hard riding = 1. cross bar battery rattle if not stopped leads to battery self-destructing - the terminals disintegrate. fix = wrap 50mm gorilla tape around front of battery to eliminate rattle. order new terminal block from Engwe!! 2. Seat post Battery drops when riding over rough terrain = leading to connection bottoming out on frame and battery connector self destructing because it passes the minimum height setting😬 fix= order new battery connector from Engwe prevent battery bottoming by putting a stop bolt underneath the battery just above it minimum height setting 🤦 3.standard tyres inner tubes are very prone to punctures had , 4 punctures in 2 weeks 😬 fix = installed heavy duty 6mm thick inner tubes 🤞

Well done Captain!; dare I say it (the box cutter / cable ties incident!) "the hazards of the home" !!!! (so true!) ; you also had me on the edge of my "seat" (literally!!!) when you pulled out the rather serious looking scissors to cut open the next part of the bike!; regardless; a very cool looking beast and great range / performance; 10 years ago we were paying similar money for the early basic electric bikes with no where near the specs of the Bike you reviewed!!!; hope that leg improves to the point where you might be able to hobble over to the Park and do a retrospective review on the Inspire 1 !!! (Sorry, couldn't help that !!!)
Awe, not like blood, Nast cut, be careful Steve. Got my first E-bike last May and I love it with its oversized tyres. Was difficult dropping the front wheel in place. Worried when when the time comes to remove the rear wheel due to cables, so I hope all will be fine when I ever get to do it. Got spare battery for that extra long journey. One safety tip, when turning from a stationary position don’t have pedal assistance enabled or it will be like someone pushing you as your turning, not good, it almost throw me when I did it first time, don’t even have pedal assistance on when turning were I need to take one hand of the handlebar for signalling. Just be carful when turning. My bike helps me a lot if I go for a 15 mile or more ride as I have pain in my knee on my normal bike after cycling for around 15 miles, so if I exceed on my E bike and this pain kicks in, I have this bike to carry be home without peddling. Am 5’ 8” and it’s a little tricky getting on and off, but I manage😂
Hi Steve. I hope your leg gets better soon. Interesting E-Bike. About the seat sinking into the frame, I had the same problem on my e-bike when I upgraded to a shock absorbing seat that came with a carbon fiber seat post. The carbon fiber is too slippery for the pinch bolt system to secure it. I had to purchase a produce called "supergrip Carbon and alloy assembly compound SAC-2". I removed the post and applied the black paste type compound to it and reinstalled the post. Re-torqued the bolt to manufacturers spec and it has been good for four years now. If that monster seat post on your subject bike is carbon fiber that compound may help.
Steve Tighten the bolt on the left side of the seat . Then close the clamp style tension lever. I don't have a E bike but that's how those lever locking systems work.
glad you dropped the hint about being old be great if it had a side car or a tandem so wify can peddle like hell and i can just sit there and enjoy the scenery great review again Steve
Very informative in depth review, thank you Steve for sharing, shame it's not got the normal basic 2 studs for mounting a bottle cage or pump that's usually a standard thing, unless it was just an oversight
I loved your video, it was very informative. I'm just worried about the second seat battery, it seems easy to steal. Can you confirm if there is a cabinet lock or something to prevent thieves?

Sorry to hear about your lower leg, when you accidently stabbed it! You mentioned it was hurting a while with the gaping wound in it! I wish I could take advantage of an electric bike like that, but I'm in a wheelchair. So, I have to take other kinds of wheeled rides! I saw a different type of electric bike that was reviewed by a young person, but the comments and demonstration indicated the bike was not as well-endowed as your model. It could not climb the hills as well, nor was the shock absorbing ability as comfortable, and it did not come with two batteries either. So, of course the bike could not stand up to yours in the area of longevity. All this simply indicates there is a difference between the E-Bikes that are available, and one must tryout several models to be sure what's important to the buyer for long-term.
You might really like electric unicycles Steve, once you get past the initial learning curve its like nothing else out there! Like fpv of electric vehicles
Simple. I wrapped a thin piece of sandpaper (with sticky back at 2000 grit) around the post then locked it in. You can do anything similiar(add anything super thin to the post to make it a tighter fit).
Is there any type of anti theft security in this bike to cut off power? I mean in engwe engine pro You need to put inside key to power on bike, but i dont see something like this in x24? Does it mean You dont have any protection? And when You leave bike anyone can just power it on and drive?
Front battery and rear battery require a key to remove them. But like many new electric bikes, if you know the startup sequence you can indeed ride off with them if the bike is foolishly left unattended.
Apparently you haven't ridden a bike in a 100 years or more. You are going slow enough to see both ways safely and stop if you need to or keep going and not lose your momentum. Steve normally rides a pedal bike so I'm sure his habit is to ride this e-bike like it was an regular pedal bike. My dad made the same comment to me about a little video I made. At 87 he long ago forgot what it's like to ride a bicycle. Probably 70 years.
Is this an older version X26? I thought I read that they added a hole in the frame to charge the smaller battery without removing it and also fixed the rattle in the smaller battery.
It is tall indeed. If you are a cyclist and like your leg to be straight when you pedal, then the bike is perfect. But if you are not a cyclist then you probably like your leg to be bent at the knee no matter where the pedal is, and this bike would not be good for such a person.
Hi Steve, that bike looks amazing. I’m thinking of getting the x24 but was wondering what is required to operate in Ontario. Because of the 1000watt motor are you required to have a motorcycle license? Do you need to register it? Do you need to insure it? Are you allowed to drive that on a sidewalk? I was looking at the provincial regulations but it wasn’t clear to me what is required/allowed. Any advice would be appreciated.
Honestly, nothing is required for electric bikes other than get yourself a helmet. Perhaps you are thinking of the Federal and Provincial rules for Electric Scooters, Skateboards and Bikes. Those don't apply to the consumer but more so to the seller. EBikes in Canada are set to a similar limit to those in the USA. Owners of eBikes (if desired) can often override settings for speed and output power and no one is the wiser.
Hi Steve, I’m curious on how to order a ENGWE bike in Canada. I tried to place an order from ENGWE and it doesn’t allow me to place an order to Canada through their website? To you need to have it delivered to Ogdensburg and drive down from Ottawa to pick it up.
Engwe fixed many of the issues on X26 with the newer X24 (24" Wheels vs 26) Batteries are linked, the front battery rattle is gone, and such. Still not fond of the "seat" that isn't a seat. A rack makes more sense.
Great that they addressed the issues. Thanks for the update. I have several electric bikes, but I still use this one for long distance rides due to the two batteries.
I have the original batteries and they must have been charged a few hundred times by now. You can't by the SKYDIO 2 anymore so if you don't own one, you can't get a new one.
Steve: I gave you my customary thumbs up. Great review. It is a bit to heavy and high for me as I have not obtained your stature. It really does look well built. I have not searched out the price so I don't know what that is yet. Different thought. What are your thoughts on Skydio killing the Skydio 2 and leaving the consumer market? Hope your day is good and I also wish your leg is healed.
I always knew something was up with SKYDIO as they should have launched the SKYDIO 3 years ago. I certainly enjoy the SKYDIO for the action follow feature but it is lame as an everyday drone. I may have to gobble up a second one while they are still available.

The blue item on my cable broke off after loaning the bike to someone. I guess if one turns it the wrong way or just pulls it, well it breaks, but everything still works fine.

Basically it's a moped. We already have relevant regulations in the UK to cover this. No license required to ride it etc. BUT it's already too fast under it's own power for our regs! 15mph max allowed here, over that the motor should shut down. (rider should be 14 yrs old minimum) To go 28mph (would you believe?), it should be classed as a a mo-ped. and have tax and m/cycle insurance. So I guess if it was sold here adjustments would be made. And although I like the 2 battery design, I dislike the seat post. I would want a "dropper" seat post on my bike so I can quickly adjust the seat height, on the fly, up to my preferred maximum, or drop it to it's lowest for dismounting. I'm 5"10 with short-ish legs. Apart from that, hmm, I wouldn't call it beautiful, but it is cool, plus I LOVE fat tire bikes and own two, plus an Electra Classic cruiser 7 speed, oh and a cheap fold up bike to throw in the back of the car if I think I might need it.

There should be a bolt that can be snugged up a little more in the seat post clamp lever to have it clamp tighter. Don't go to tight or it will strip something. Totally worth it !
I've gotten too old to use my 29er MTB (Trek Marlin) for actual technical trails but it's great as a hybrid light trail, dirt road/gravel/ road bike with the fork swap (Rockshox Recon) and gravel tires. I like to sit more vertical so a stem extension and a spring loaded seat post rounds out the ride nicely to take out those jolts from the back tire hitting hard bumps. A 4-12 mile ride is so good in so many ways.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I picked up a good used Giant Sedona with coil forks and suspension seat post as a back up or second bike for a friend to my Trek Marlin. Very nice bike! I should ride it more often. The Sedona was touted as a comfy ride for gravel and street but it looks like an MTB.
I took my 29r hard tail MTB and put a mid-drive Tongsheng kit on it. Great greenway ebike with the smooth tires on it. Interestingly the switch to smooth tires from knobby saves 15% battery for the same distance ride. I knew it would save some but not that much. @@SW-Video

1. cross bar battery rattle if not stopped leads to battery self-destructing - the terminals disintegrate. fix = wrap 50mm gorilla tape around front of battery to eliminate rattle. order new terminal block from Engwe!!
2. Seat post Battery drops when riding over rough terrain = leading to connection bottoming out on frame and battery connector self destructing because it passes the minimum height setting😬
