As someone who has been maining AP grendel since release something i can realy recommend to people in the early parts of mythics or doing overworld/expedition content is using sword&shield. (i personally have been enjoying tooth and claw) The reason for this is the 2nd discipline perk giving you whirlwind resource on melee finishers, on sword&shield doing light attack>hold heavy attack or heavy attack>hold heavy attack counts as an finisher allowing some niche things like getting fast fragments on kyros, fast resetting strike on wingrave or in this case getting whirlwind back faster on grendel. Obviously once you are strong enough to kill mythics in 1 whirlwind with Epitaph that will be king but in fights where you need 3+ whirlwinds the extra recourse gen will stack up fast, also in overworld/expedition you are generally more held back by cooldowns then dmg so for those sword&shield will in my opinion always feel more comfy. Edit: Another thing for sword&shield i forgot to mention that helps them feel even more comfy is the fact that their attacks are obviously a bit faster then that of a scythe meaning you will stack your presence of mind as well as combo a bit faster. Edit 2: While which armor to get has been mentioned it wasn't actually said where to get them so here is an quick list for anyone not having the best pieces yet: (and alternatives for the mythic hunt pieces for early game players) Dauntless Helm: Wormwood Hunt Knightwar Base: Bought from "Warden Rust" in the start area of frostmarch, if you need tokens there is a great guide on this channel for the arena farm. Bonesaw Shoulders: Mythic Dark Arbiter Hunt - if you can't do mythics yet Shaelen Shoulders: any content that drops level 15-24 gear very likely you have gotten this/will get this just by leveling Bonesaw Gloves: Mythic The Argent Hand Hunt - if you can't do mythics yet Dauntless Gloves: The Reaver King Hunt Dauntless Chest: Kolaar the Beastmaster Hunt Lastly an rush echo that hasn't been mentioned but might be good for newer players that don't have access to the mentioned echos or just didn't get them dropped yet is "the first", its not nearly as big of an increase as something like dread legion but its at least something. the fact it triggers on double jump something you normally don't do much if at all in an fight also means you won't accidentally trigger it. Great guide btw, nice seeing more love towards my favorite build rn and agree with basically everything said.
Thanks for the addition. It's difficult for me to say much about the earlier levels due to swapping into ap after minmaxing WP. Good addition. I tried out with daggers because I thought rose and thorns might be interesting with whirlwind double hits too. Still something I have to get back to at some point
@@LuqaslncredibIe When i was still on a different affinity build i also thought about some daggers namely god bleeder as well as roseþ but by now i honestly think if you aren't going for 25 discipline it just won't be nearly as good so those weapons not having the AP on that affinity is pretty bad, on top of that unless there is a trick i don't know about i also think that dagger abilities take way to long to get so even tho roseþ's ability would probably be pretty good its not worth imo. Oh yea an question i meant to ask but seemingly forgot is do you realy think 5 points into instinct is worth it? breaking faster is good and all but with it only giving break damage while in blood rage i feel like its straight up useless against some mythics since you enter blood rage after breaking so in single target it doesn't do anything and the stats you gain from 5 instinct points are also not realy worth more then just 5 more focus i would say. (also i added an part about armor in my original comment, don't disagree with the ones you shown just wanted to give the drop locations since you seemingly forgot)

Just tested it and it sure does. Super easy to keep the stacks maxed out as well, if you're conscious about it. I am sooooooo happy with the glow up this game has had. I struggled through the ps4 EA and had almost given up on it entirely. It looks and feels a hundred times smoother now ❤ And Grendel feels exactly how I want him to. Rage Kitty!
As a sort of follow up, I see the affinities are 5/25/11, is Spellbound Resurgence to help with survivability? I imagine it pops more than Anger's Bounty would.

Not sure. While I think it is a world drop. I do believe, dread legion drops it as well. Though you might have to use a different weapon in the meantime, if you don't find a strong epitaph. However, the weapon vendor should sell a version, according to your power level

sorry for the bumping old topic, but you would suggest to go with tooth & claw untill you have acquired in the guide provided accesories/armor etc ?
Can't really tell right now. Am not deep into the game rn due to other projects. I would test some weapons and play what feels good

The Primordial pieces come from 38 Slyvr and Bloodrage. No imbuements needed

You get 5 from awakening your wayfinder and 6 from the character overarching wayfinder rank
hello how can you loot the set mutated solar soul in the bloodwork while the blood work drops some items lvl 20 ?
The set is a stepping stone towards the endgame sets. It is not scalable to the mythic hunt sets currently

Crafted items always are your wayfinders level + affinity. No matter the item they go to 35 always
i'm having a hard time finding loot goblins to level up grendel and epitaph.
Use one greed imbuement in any dungeon. That force spawns them. Works best in Bal Dun
