  • With the offseason all but wrapped up for the San Jose Sharks and the National Hockey League, who were the big winners and losers for the Sharks? Start with why William Eklund has to be the biggest winner this offseason with the additions of Will Smith, Macklin Celebrini, and Alex Wennberg, all considered natural centers. Then, why might Thomas Bordeleau have seen his NHL job evaporate with the additions Mike Grier made this offseason? Then, shift to the bottom six and explain why Givani Smith might be playing with the San Jose Barracuda next year, thanks to the additions of Ty Dellandrea and Carl Grundström. Next, Nico Sturm might have been replaced by old friend Barclay Goodrow and why Sturm could be traded sooner rather than later. Finally, the lack of additions on the blue line was a huge win for Ty Emberson and Shakir Mukhamadullin, who could see big minutes in the NHL this season.

    Do you think it’s possible that Grier wanted to develop the young guys (slightly insulated forwards and no major improvement on D) this year while at the same time he intentionally did not want to improve the defense much so that the team still sucks and they can grab another group of high end draft picks this next again? I think there is a thoughtful method to Grier’s approach and I find myself agreeing with it. I am hoping he trades away some veteran pieces for additional draft capital over the course of the year as the young guys develop and get that experience.

      Even good rookies need 2-4 years before they are capable of carying a line and/ or a team. So I do think Grier is still expecting to be a non playoff team, but not the worst team in the league like last year. I expect bottom ten and draft 2-7 area depending on the lotto and we still need a legit future starting Goalie and top line RHD and could still Use more depth in the prospect pool.
      Grier is a very calculated and smart GM and he has a plan and a system in place to get there so I will trust him for another 2 years before I will question what he’s doing.
      He earned that from me imo! (Not like he would care anyways what I have to think lol)

    Now that Sam Dickinson has signed his ELC, do you think there's a chance he makes the team out of training camp? Or too many D already on the roster, and he'll be with the Barracuda? Possibly getting a call up at the end of the season?

      He cannot play for the barracuda due to CHL rules. He will be going back to London to play in the OHL again.

      Ok, fair enough. Out of curiosity, what rule (so im not as naive next time) prevents this?
      Is he eligible for the NHL if he plays well enough? Not saying he will, but is it within the rules that he could? @connorgoodin8065

      Think his spot is manned by Walman, in 2 years when his deal is up Dickenson takes over.

      @SepticSharKk หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Doubtful. He needs more time to ripen in the OHL in a bigger role. No need to rush the rebuild.

      @@SepticSharKk Sharks history is strewn with high end D they have rushed up too soon! And lots of late round gems who they took their time to develop, I say make him force his way into the lineup and until he beats out a vet he stays in the juniors/ Minors! Mukhamadulin would have become a bust had either Sharks or NJD rushed him!
