I was onboard since day two. He's cleaning up past GM mistakes, making solid picks and bringing hope to the franchise. And yes, I agreed with his trades of Meier, Karlsson and Hertl. 🤙🏼

I really wish we could've kept Meier but it set us up for a better future and gave us a solid piece in Zetterlund and decent prospect in Mukhamadullin

@@1ggage334 Yeah, I'm a huge Meier fan, but if he's not traded, maybe the Sharks don't end up with Macklin. I hope they can draft a couple solid players during in 2025. Here's to the future.

Was on board the day Grier was hired. I knew of his prior experience behind the bench and in the front office with NJD and NYR. The moment when he traded back in his first draft after only being hired a week prior, I knew that was the signal for what was to come. I’ve been yelling rebuild for a couple of years prior and for the dismissal of Wilson.
As for what Grier has done, I feel the Brent Burns trade was the only one sided deal, in the end it’s Burns for Brandon Svoboda, meh. Timo Meier deal is looking good for Grier in the long run, potentially shaking out 3 NHL players. EK65 is another good move outside of holding some money but getting Dickinson and whatever they get for Granlund and Rutta. The Hertl deal, getting two firsts Edstrom/2025 1st are reasonable returns for players that are going to age out very soon.
Those are some bold moves that don’t sit well for a lot of fans but they are necessary for an organization to acquire building blocks. I have faith in Grier and I hope the ownership is patient with him as he deserves to see this team come to fruition.

Burns trade tree did also land Jack Thompson who has showed some potential

Wilson's comments on Pav, are exactly why he should've been gone a long time ago. I'm amazed with what Grier has done in the short amount of time. I hope he gets GM of the year this season 🤞🏒🦈

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!! Wilson's Legacy unravels the work he did earlier as a playoff team BUT HE NEVER BROUGHT IN ENOUGH SCORING EVEN BACK THEN!! Doug Wilson left the Sharks as a laughingstock!!! He DISGRACED himself!!! Now Mike Grier has to dig out the franchise from the wreckage.

As always, this was a very informative episode. Although, I would not attribute the contract signing of Hertl to GMMG. It was signed before he was GM by Joe Will if I remember correct. I believe it was the right move to trade him.
From what has been reported (I do not know if this is completely true) that when Hertl signed the contract extension with the Sharks it was under the premise that they would be trying to win.
That, obviously, was not going to be the case. When this did not come to pass he wanted out. So, you have a guy with a long term 8 million dollar contract with a history of knee injuries that could not complete the current season that is turning 30 on a bad team wanting out.
What GMMG got back in return was good. How good we do not know yet but it would be very cool if the Vegas lick turns into Eklund's younger brother as he is slated to be a late first or early second round pick.
Then the question might be which Eklund jersey does one wear to a game?

I need to see some of these prospects fulfill their potential before I give Mike an A grade. Eklund is still a work in progress. We don't know what Celebrini or Smith will do (or anyone else in their system for that matter). Potential is just theoretical. Results at the NHL level are what matters.

What about an enforcer ! Some one to protect the picks

It's not 1970 anymore. Also, why did they bring in Goodrow, Dellandrea, and Grundstrom to add to Kunin? You can't just have a guy who skates five minutes a night to fight people.

    • @michaelknepper-ut8if
      @michaelknepper-ut8if หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I believe they have one in Kostin. Enforcers as they once were (Cronin for example) just do not exist. That being the case we still need big skilled tough players that can protect our top prospects in case someone does try and take liberties.
This was one of the reasons they picked up G. Smith IMO. He was not skilled enough to be consistently on the worst team in decades but they did manage to get a guy that could fill that role at the trade deadline (Klim Kostin) .
IMO I would have Klim on Celebrini's line. He is our top prospect possibly in franchise history and I would like him protected. Kostin also does have some skill and is a north-south player who has a history of sticking up for his team mates. Watch some Redwings videos on him.

I was unsure of the Grier hire at first, feeling that it was potentially a PC hire that wasn’t based on merit. However, he has changed my mind about that pretty quickly and has earned the right in my mind to build this team. He has been doing a great job and I see success on the horizon in the coming years. Hopefully 10-20 years of it if these kids develop as expected!

It’s simply an opinion that I believe affirmative action, DEI initiatives, and political correctness have no place in sports (or anywhere else for that matter). I’m all about merit and hard work (people earning things). And I’m also saying that Grier’s hire looks to be based on merit and hard work-he’s earned it and is showing he could be a really good GM.
