    This matchup ultimately boils down to a showdown of speed. The faster usually wins. And although the slower deck set itself up unexpectedly quickly in this match (exceeding all speed records during playtesting), the second half of the match showed all too clearly the consequences of it going faster than intended - a drying up of resources. It does make me a bit sad cos the bosses are 2 of my favourite Digimon, but this is the deck's current reality - especially if you are someone like me who wants to play it in its intended colours. Of course, it does shine in certain matchups that are less fast-paced but it definitely faced one of its worst rivals here. Well, we were promised new support for it in BT-11 so let's see what we get. On the other hand, the deck I was personally rooting for came through. I wonder if they'll be able to avenge the fate they suffered in a previous tournament, long ago...

      You should have played the crimson blaze for 2 memory. Wipe all of the low level digimon, with maybe 1 surviving to be popped by the megadramon effect. attack darkdra. The other Board would be emptied and chaosdra could have cleaned up the the following turn.

    • @rustmarrow
      @rustmarrow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @baby freed I alrdy considered that while playing - wouldnt have worked. Decoy Commandra protects the Blocker. Blocker is Play Cost 4 so it cant be popped by Megadra's inheritable. Darkdra survives either way.

      @@babyfreeD not really since the result would still be the same except with maybe the d brigade having more memory. So either way, chaosdramon lost

    It was a shame the unstoppable washing machine Mekanorimon wasn't seen earlier to prevent a lot of chip damage, ggs though!

    That was a great showing, sad to see Chaosdramon lose but having expiernce running Machinedramon and Dueling a Brigade player I can understand why. But I do have one question.
    I'm curious, why didn't you have Machinedramon Block the attack aimed at Duel Color Guilmon? I get Machinedramon wants cards in the trash but so do the D-Brigade and while it would have cost 2 Machinedramon cyborgs to survive the Darkdramon would have died, not having as many sources in trash, also needing to commit to a second attack on the Guilmon on top of that.
    Don't know how much that'd effect things but I feel like the battle would have changed decently enough.

    • @rustmarrow
      @rustmarrow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @Demenos Great question man, it was honestly a really tough decision, but 2 key reasons:
      (1) I think Machinedra couldnt really afford to drop 2 evolution cards in that situation. Let's say DP+ MetalGreymon is picked. What about the 2nd one? Small body deletion, SA+, Blocker, Reboot - all key functions that, if lost, could cause them to lose advantage or lose the game next turn. SA+ was big in that situation cos their wincon was to clear Security with Machinedra and win with a 2nd attack. They also didnt have Chaosdra in hand so no expectation to replenish sources.
      (2) At that moment, D-Brigade had 2 Memory and 3 Brigade members in Trash (4 if you count BT-4 Darkdra going to Trash from being blocked). They could pull off EX3 Darkdra with or without Guils deletion. If Machinedra had blocked and become suspended, EX3 Darkdra could have taken Machinedra out with a follow-up double attack.
      *While editing, I was actually pretty concerned about this move being a misplay as well so I tried replaying the match and blocking instead, but the match flow and outcome turned out to be almost the same. Losing any of its inheritables so early hit Machinedra hard. I feel the key deciding factor of this match was ultimately them not drawing into Chaosdra early enough.

      @rustmarrow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought it was a nice showcase of how certain decktypes can have matchup-specific interaction. Not sure if the other Guilmon would have been better tho. Although it doesnt Trash, the D-Brigade would have had no reason to block its attack early on so they would have an additional body, though 1 less Security as well

    • @animedude8712
      @animedude8712 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rustmarrow True, but the D-Brigade took full advantage of Guilmon's second effect, letting them set up their full-on attack. While it can be helpful, if you can get rid of Guilmon right away, it will hurt you later. Thou, that just depends on the deck it's fighting. In this case, it was the wrong choice.

      @Zeek Sutton I don't mind if you have issues with my plays as im trying to improve as a player myself, but id appreciate if you try to consider the potential rationale of each move before making such claims. I dont believe in scripting and put in a lot of effort trying to strategise out the best move in each situation. From your other comment, it seems you might have misunderstood some of the rulings involved in todays match as well, so you might want to be careful about that giving you the wrong conclusions
