I really enjoy about what you are doing with the Mustang. I imagine your process of trying stuff, and then trying something else if it doesn't work, or rethinking your direction is what traditional hot rodders did. Some guys seem to buy solutions to all their problems, and upgrades. You work it out and do it yourself. More strength to you, young man.
I street raced 2 65 mustang notchbacks, got rear ended in both cars, I also welded a plate to isolat the trunk and fuel cell , the cell was bad crushed so on the other stang I put a reinforced 4 inch by 2 inch tube around the tank welded to the roll bar and floor and trunk plate, the same thing happened got rearended , but in this case the damage stopped at the 4 inch square stock no tank damage
Just a heads up to those looking into Holley for their LS Swap..... if you're doing an LS Swap and swapping from a non-electric tranmission to an electric transmission like the 4L60e or 4L80e you need to get the Terminator X MAX ECM becuase the non-MAX doesn't have a transmission controller built into it. The transmission controller and the DBW vs DBC are the main differences between the MAX and non-MAX Terminator ECMs.
I love everything about this build except the gas tank. An in tank fuel pump and lower the tank would be my preference. However, it's not my build and I respect the choices of another builder. vTuned is amazing!!
Great work ! She's coming along nicely 👍 Not to be negative but I would have waited to see where wiring goes til exhaust and other hot pipes are mocked up ☮️
Nice progress and seeing this baby take form. Consider some aluminum sheet that you could rivet onto some brackets, then seal and cover with sound deadener and then carpet or something.
Model T came out in 1908, so that guy only has 114 years exp. but the roll cages were made of wood 😆 Pieces of steel plate just welded in random places, nice and clean, nice and welded, nice and painted. Too much room between back of engine and firewall, looks weird. Maybe engine could have been moved back. ✌
17:17 I am glad that you did not forget that the parts of the firewall that have holes were not painted. I am very careful that these small things are not forgotten :) You have shown us the height of perfectionism, we are also careful that there are no defects.
Love the progress Vtuned. It's amazing how Ben has tremendous amount automotive DIY knowledge when it comes to fixing, fabricating and building a car from the ground up and the ideas just keep coming. What colour are you painting the mustang? Are you planning to enter the SEMA show when you're mustang is complete because it will be a unique car because everything is custom made other than the shell. Would love to see the car in SEMA. Who knows. Keep the amazing content coming. For the sound deadening definitely go with Second Skin with different products depending on the how quite you want. For the seats you can with 2014 gt factory recaro seats with leather or from the gt350 depending on the comfort.
Thank You for closing in the roll cage brackets with an end cap. My OCD was giving me a hard time until you closed it in. I imagined all the dirt and debris that area would collect and it was too much. - You can get an oversize rubber grommet and slice it to fit for your firewall penetration. Nylon caterpillar grommet would also work. Check aviation electrical suppliers. You'd epoxy the caterpillar grommet into place.
The Mustang is coming along real nicely. The roll cage looks perfect. Please do us all a favor and use a mask when you work - painting, sanding, welding etc. 🙂
don't forget kiddies, that spray primer is permeable and any rust will reappear unless you get a cheap top coat over it or as you boys like to call sealer (does what it says on the tin) - Hey Ben - to me (here in the UK, that seems to be only half a roll cage in the rear), normally we have a tube that comes down forward across the door with another hoop fitted up across behind windscreen and down forward sides of doors - yes partially inconvenient for the ladies getting in but the idea is to provide a cell for the occupants
Really good video, glad to hear about the updates on your other builds, for your Sentra parts car, while you have a lot good parts ,I would be looking for more Sentra car for easy flip, easy money.never hurts.enjoyed the work on the mustang, rollcage is more than enough for what you planning.column coming right along.keep doing what your doing and carry on.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Nice work, Ben. Seriously think about installing an inertia switch to cut the fuel pump circuit in the event of an accident. Looking 🔥. Keep up the good work.
VTune you are looking like you are really enjoying working by yourself your videos get to show more of your personality and knowledge which is great keep up the great work
Nice job on the roll gage. Getting it painted is always an excellent rust prevention. Roll gages typically are black or white. So, its neutral to the interior color.
Ben Holley is your ideal sponsor as they seem to willingly cover all mistakes by supplying new or improved parts. Cars getting stronger and heavier each episode. It will soon be able to withstand all the knocks banger racing delivers.
Typically on the custom roll cages that I've seen being built they had at least one diagonal bar between the two bars in the rear going into the trunk to add strength. Most of them I've seen run bars in an "x" pattern.
indeed & the base plates to the rear bars should have been plated above and under floor... Then add in grade 8 bolts to eliminate sheering of the plates from the floor.. Roll cages should be welded with 0-30 wire to fully penetrate the steel and securely bond them together... I have been doing that for years and was taught that by NHRA roll cage officials.. Also the crossbar he put in for his steering column should have had plates added on each end where it was mounted to the inner kick panels.. If it gets hit in the back of the fender hard enough it will tear cleanoff and his steering is completely gone
You have seen the sound deadening matts under the carpet. Well, there is newer technology that has an adhesive and I would use it. I did on my 55 Thunderbird Street rod. Nice stuff.
Great job, V, you are killing it! Always so happy to see you collabing with the GS boyz, and you are making great choices on this Mustang project. I hope you're having as much fun as it is to watch!
Inclosing the trunk area from the interior serves to keep trunk smell including should you develop gas leak and exhaust fumes both yours and everything from the outside elements especially when you're in stop and go or heavy traffic. And safety. Nice decision.
I would suggest that you consider a bulkhead wiring plug through the firewall. You will appreciate the hard work to install later if you ever have to pull the engine for updates or rebuilds. It's also extremely water/air tight as well as just overall clean appearance. Of course, I totally respect your build and love the content. Keep up the good work!
hey vTuned, the rollcage is looking pretty good but I think you should put some bracing in the cabin. You have a very strong back and very strong front but nothing in between. So some tubes to link the 2 structures would be good. I know it's going to be difficult to make it look good but you know how it is, safety first. Otherwise I like the content better than goonzquad, more working, less taking.
The vents that you want to use at the base of the windshield isn’t going to work the way you think. When the car is moving that’s a high-pressure area and it will force air into those vents not pull it out.
Real work done here. I just cant figure why this channel has not yet skyrocketed. Strong work ethic, passionnate and authentic content. Ben is the man! Peace!
the trick to fully weld a roll cage, it's to do holes on the floor, so the roll cage can be dropped lower to be fully welded. Then cover those holes with thick metal plates.
Roger M bet u sit in your saloon and make bad coments and have not done much with your life. This kid is grafting good bad or indifferent he's having a go. Mate get a life
@@roystonfields2003 so padding his back instead of giving him proper guidance is the answer? Here in Europe, doubt in many countries this build would pass road inspection. Not only that, but the roll cage welds would need to be certified.
You should weld plates from the tubes in the engine bay over to the top of the inner fender to cover that weird gap up and strengthen the whole front end
Vtune you are making progress! I am really looking forward to seeing the wiring & engine compartment get finalized & hear that Coyote run! Anyhow I am looking forward to the next video!
Ben, love the low key humor / trolling in this; IE: 'we don't want the car vibrating apart' from the fuel pump - 120 years of roll cage making experience... ROFL. ...but in saying that, OEM isolating is the way to go! Keep up the great work!
Great content, as always Ben! It won't be long and the Mustang will be ready for paint. You might as well call this project, Beauty and the Beast, because after it gets that VTuned magic, it will be the best of both worlds! Major props for helping the Boyz break in their new frame machine, nice and proper! There is always something magical whenever V~Tuned and Goonzquad tag-team a project. There's nothing stronger than the sense of family!
Great job with the steering column! I noticed that the hole you mentioned about the column going into the engine bay needing to be a bit bigger; just sending a friendly reminder about it :D
7:06 oh yeah, that's mucho betterer. You can make a fibreboard filler panel and just knock out the corner where the tube comes through. Finish it in auto carpet and do 2 separate side pieces and finish off that back area. You could do the panel out of 3/4" MDF and install a massive sub so you can thump cars and coffee wit cho rap music! hehe
the straight bars look ok but for a street car I probably would have gone with the curved bars as the back seat would have been able to be installed without much or any modifications and someone could sit in the back without having a bar up against them. but you could still have a back seat pad u notched to fit around the bars you have and keep a somewhat original look to the car. one other thing I see that I hope you dont have a problem with is the firewall being just a flat plate it does give a clean look but it might have been good to have had it bead rolled in a few spots to prevent any vibration noises, sound deadener helps though, everything else is looking great, I just wish you would have had this result with the fast back as it would have been a very sweet car when done.
hey bro i think add two more tube link the engine bay and the roll cage will be better, the passenger cab may be the weakest part of the whole car,it doesn't seem safe enough
Ben you seem a lot happier after working with the boys at goonzquad, glad to see it man. Keep up the smiles and enjoy yourself, this will turn out sweet!

You are really hardworking bro, you are working on car shooting video with editing by all alone, it's really encouraging 👍
VTune might as well start an economic car rental business with those sentra. Make those cars pay you back 👍🏽
Turo!
Hahaha 100% this
Right on you have to have projects that bring money in to keep the bills paid!

It’s really coming along Ben, don’t stop and keep moving forward with this incredible project!

A better option for your wining through the firewall would be a bulkhead fitting.

good to see you working with Eleazar and Simeon again. Like old times. Keep it up! Good music too.
@Vtuned about to start a Nissan dealer!! LETS GO!!!!
This is going to be one bad ass mustang. Can’t wait to see it completed.

If the Model T roll cage guy says its okay then it has to be a solid cage! 😤👍
You should weld plates from the tubes in the engine bay over to the top of the inner fender to cover that weird gap up and strengthen the whole front end
This turning out very nice and clean love the way is going on the process 🙌

Should be early 2024
Rob all the grommets off one of those busted-up Nissan's Ben! Make sure the holes you cut are same size tho. Too easy!!
Looks awesome Ben. You could also build a small stereo system where the rear seat was after installing the rear plate to make it look cool back there.
Put an x across the straight tubes
Dang boy great video thanks for your time
Keep up the good work Ben, your talent and work ethic is amazing, well done 👏
If I was here with the back seat wide open like that I would put definitely put one hell of a system in that car car stereo system
That is so neatly done Ben, plus we know you make it super sturdy. Plus glad of your past pace actions, God bless
Should have added a X Bar on the two straight bars going into the trunk on a hard roll it will twist & tearoff the welds at the joints
