At the conclusion of David Stern's Memorial Service at Radio City Music Hall, the curtain slowly opened and Wynton Marsalis and his musicians gradually/slowly walked out playing Just a Closer Walk with Thee. I, like the other 3,800 people there didn't know whether to cry or cheer -- so many of us did BOTH. It was the most remarkable event I've witnessed in my 79 year.s. J. Bruce Miller, Louisville, Kentucky.
We were in the 5th row behind the guy with the camera. Beautiful auditorium, very hip international audience..what a band!...and we hung out afterward and talked to some of the musicians. Very friendly, very appreciative, very cool. We'll always remember it. THANKS MILOS!
michael wilcox like my son said once “this is the good America”. All the rest are politics. And these guys came out of slavery showing their best self. Let’s see what the rest will do.... surely not to vote Trumps.
We were there; a very nice lady behind us, also American, said she knew Charlie Byrd who had a club in D.C.when I was a student there years before. Very nice. The Good Guys win again! We were all good Earthlings there.
Lo it is a gala night! With in the lonesome later years a angel throng bewinged in veils and drawned in tears sit in a theater to see a play of hope and fear while the orchestra fitfully plays the music of the spheres :Death of jazz , A Divine Function?.....for rich weirdos.....
Yes, it was wonderful, thank you. Maybe you will like too my another video with Wynton Marsalis brother Defeayo? You will find it on TH-cam under the name: Delfeayo Marsalis & the Uptown Jazz Orchestra New Orleans French Quarter Festival, WWL-TV Stage, Jackson Square, April 14, 2013
Dear Mr. Wynton any chance you wanna follow me some day down Hickory to the graveyard just outside UNT? One Alumni to another? We can do NO if you prefer. Long line of La Fauns there since 1850. I just need a guy that knows what he's playin. See Dr Jack Unzeker UTA School of Music he might be able to bring some friends. But not until one of these days when I don't get out of bed.
But what Black Chior appealed to British people in theri church and uploaded me was very meaningful. Could you inform my thanks to them, esp. that Madame?
Thank you for uploading your performance in your church! I think you understand what I mean. You must cope with the racial problem sensibly and cleverly!!
It pleases me... Maybe you will like too another Marsalis, Wyntons brother Defeayo? You will find it on TH-cam under the name: Delfeayo Marsalis & the Uptown Jazz Orchestra
Yes, I know Delfeayo Marsalis & the Uptown Jazz Orchestra, I've seen him live several times in New Orleans and I have my own video with this great band: th-cam.com/video/kk8F_gufEB4/w-d-xo.html
Thank you, I am pleased... Look too at this, maybe you will like it too? J.J.Jazzmen & Mike Fulton, Prague - New Orleans Connection (This is my band and Mike Fulton of New Orleans.)
You should take your time. If you try to solve quickly, you will fail again and will be put into the further and more serious stalemate. Try to get More supporters or More good firneds who agree with you with your Decent and Sensible deeds, even if you get mad again. You need great patience and wisdom for reformation in any sphere!
Oh, you performed in the church of Whites!! And they accepted you! See, there are many like-minded people who own good consciousness! You have become smarter and wiser!! Congratulations! 🏰💒⛪⛲🎠
I pray that God will continue to shower them with His blessings of good health

Well, I think they have practised ... a lot. ;-)
What a true dixieland jazz band sound. I grew up listening to many N'awlins greats. This is gold.
Goosebumps! No other words to describe this.

Это круто.Супер му
One of my favorite renditions of this song. Very talented musicians performing a beautiful song.
Yes, I also like these musicians and this song!
Oh, merciful Jesus! The talent, the talent!
Each note of each musician lives and shines it’s own Life as if the tune is just here to bring it in the light ( and allmost disapeared)
Mr Marsalis, so much of what you do brings me tears of joy.
A beam of light! What an awesome recording ✨
Wynton Marsalis best trumpet player on the planet earth 2022 and beyond
Best spelende jazz orkest van de eeuw,en best geklede mannen
the voices coming from those horns are just as sweet if not sweeter than the best vocal chords out there
I agree :D
Music like this gives me the strength to keep going
Great rendition. What a terrific sound and chorus by Marcus Printup (Trumpet)

Hearing this makes me proud to have been born in New Orleans way back when!
I like New Orleans, I've been there and I've played there 10 times (2001 - 2019).
We are all at the mountain top.
Inspirational.
This is how we represent America after all the lies told about us.

If Mr. Marsalis is unavailable ask Shay Cohn and Tuba Skinny possiblely combined with Marla Dixon and her Shake Em Up Jazz Band.

They were great, as always ...

The voyeur
Just a closer walk isn't supposed to be slow in tempo. But it does pick up towards the end.
Usually New Orleans' jazz starts out slow and then picks up the tempo
Listent Chris Barber's cover...far much better!!!!
Unreal talent. This is incredible!
