AWESOME BUILD !!! Brings Back Good Memories of My Youth and Still One Of The Hidden Gems of Sci-Fi Movies #SilentRunning Those Memories Will Last A Lifetime For Me ... Thank You for Making This Video and Making That Amazing Model of The Valley Forge.... now it's time to binge watch more of your creations 😉👍
This is one of those movies I love and can't watch. I saw this at the theater when it 1st came out. Really hit me deep. This replica is stunning! There is so much room for personal flare and still not affect the realism of the original. Beautiful
That "not-so-matt" finish you had to rework was a really useful example to we who are new to modelling and painting. It really emphasises the importance of every element of a model's finish. I think this is the build I've enjoyed following most, maybe because I have nothing but fond feelings for the movie. Very nice build Lou 🤩
Hello Lou . I just purchased a 1/17 scale BSG Viper MKII resin kit from Dynamic Digital Creations (also a guy named Tony) . And a working DRADIS screen from Bricksuff. Watching your channel really motivates me to be the best scale modeler that I can be.
Must say really had my heart rate going seeing the ship up there, as for your advice I did actually plant five trees and some ferns in my gardens yesterday and sewed some packets of wild flowers seed.
After 3 weeks of watching you put this beauty together, I had to track down a copy of the film and give it a watch for the first time in 40 years. Finished the movie a few hours before you posted the finale. Great Work on the Valley Forge.
Every time I’ve watched this series, Joan Baez’s song plays in my head. It was the perfect theme song for the movie and from I’ve read, it was specifically written for the movie. Great build and will look forward to the Valley Forge - Aztec Dummy version when that time comes. Also looking forward to seeing what you will be doing with the “Eagle 2” with the lab module and the booster pack. I’ve seen them on line up her in Canada but in order to buy all the accessories (booster pack and the metal nozzles), that puts it well over $700.00 CDN ($600.00+ just for the model). All our hobby stores are closed up here - online orders only and you get screwed on shipping costs. Interesting that you will be going to a convention. Right now all Canadian and N. Eastern US model contests and Fan Shows have been cancelled up to October and even those are iffy. Take care and keep well
Spectacular finish! Mad-dog model making and similar building! Good fun throughout (getting paid is sweet indeed). One thing-- the second one should bang together in half the time-- you know all the kinks to straighten out! The only solution for the glass shelf is to make it thicker. Looking forward to your next--
Hi! Great build Lou! I always loved this ship! I saw the movie once when I was 12'.. And never forgot it. I loved your build so much, I bought one from Tony! You have the same 'your version' casting as mine.. Hollow cast.. I'm planning on lighting mine up' which will make it that much more difficult to build.. Can't wait to start it! Need a computer though! LOL Great job Bud!
Such a perfect place for the Valley Forge to sit. It's like it has always ment to be there. Also, I'm really looking forward to the new Eagle II. I have to thank you for using the intro and provide feedback the last days. I hope your viewers like it as much as I doing it. And now excuse me. I have to start with that AMT Romulan Warbird laying behind me :D
The new opening looks good, I like it. The Valley Forge turned out great Lou. The dome detail looks good as does the placement along the super structure. I was using some Rustoleum Matte this week myself and it wasn't very matte either. I'm not sure what's going on with it. The ship looks good up on the shelf. Good move having the person you're building it for to come pick it up. I couldn't imagine trying to ship that somewhere or what it would look like when it arrived.
Such a satisfying conclusion to the long bumpy road of this build. I hope the customer has some way to secure it on the trip home- I was wondering how you were going to pack it for shipping... Any insights on doing yours any differently other than the pressure relief trick? Next build- *another* Eagle II? Really? COOL! Can't wait.
Heya! Use a Smaller Magnet that will both fit into the tube and be glued into the centre of the radar attachment? Something for your one when you build it? Perhaps you could magnetise the Dome Fittings too? I hope that you will independently light the Domes? Best
I have always wanted to build a model of this immense space vehicle! Alas it's about 10 years too late. I'm way too old to carryout such a project now. Ironically I now have the means but not the time, Vise versa of ten years ago. My old eyes and hands are not up to it now. I'm warning the rest of you before it's too late, it's ALWAYS now or never!
Absolutely love it. I enjoy seeing builds from films that I grew up with. Lou, had a quick question when you have the time. Has anyone ever made a model of the air ship Albatross from the Vincent Price film Master of the World, co-starring Charles Bronson? I always loved that ship. It would make a great companion piece to the Nautilus.
I know it's me but I kind'a feel it could have used LED's.... Yeah. It's me. Lou... Need be said but I'll say it anyway... You are a great modeler and is never boring on video. The intro update looks/sounds great!!
Hello Friend, congratulations for your excellent work I leave you a suggestion ..... 2 rare and anthological ships, "The Black Hole USS Cygnus and The Star Lost The Ark" .... Thx !!!!
Did that model come with the American Airlines logo? Not being nitpicky 🙂. I was just curious, it was shown in the movies first long shot of the Valley Forge during the prayer. Otherwise COOL build 👏👍
Not sure if this is of any help, but in this trailer there are a couple of shots of the drones outside on walkways. Maybe they'll help out. th-cam.com/video/OK_fg7WAnYc/w-d-xo.html

I have always loved the movie Silent Running and now the model.
I saw this film in the theatre way back in the day. Very under rated SciFi film. First big budget SciFi movie after 2001 a space Odyssey.

Congratulations on another fantastic build!👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌🙌‼️

29:02 - A man so committed to his craft that he ignores the emergency alert in the background. :)
Congratulations Sir. Awesome build and a great inspiration to many of us. Really impressive. Keep up the great work.
Great job Lou. As always a work of art.
The small red detail lines on the hull can be seen clearly at 8 min 54 sec into the movie. Great job!

Holy Kate and her twin sister Duplicate... had to pete myself or repeat myself at how amazing this build is Lou. Thank you!
Excellent Job Lou. It's Spectacular.
"Let's forge ahead"...... Would not be an episode of Aztec Dummy without the puns :)

COOL! Can't wait.
I know...but technically, it's the first Eagle 2. The others were all eagle 1s
@@aztekdummy My bad- I watched someone build an Eagle II and I thought it was you. Okay, still can't wait!

Best
Love the updated intro
And to think this is a 'scaled down' model as I recall someone had one of the domes from the studio model, it was massive...
you should keep the Freeman line at the end. as your outro moving forward
awesome build lou

not that I know of, but that seems a natural for Fantastic Plastic. I'd give them a ring, if I were you

Amazing build!
I guess I missed it what's the alcohol and mod podge for?
Lou , Throw away the Rustoleum . Your Beyond that .
Hello Friend, congratulations for your excellent work I leave you a suggestion ..... 2 rare and anthological ships, "The Black Hole USS Cygnus and The Star Lost The Ark" .... Thx !!!!
The USS Cygnus is my favourite starship! But man.. So rare to find!? Has it been re-issued?
Did that model come with the American Airlines logo? Not being nitpicky 🙂. I was just curious, it was shown in the movies first long shot of the Valley Forge during the prayer. Otherwise COOL build 👏👍
Yes it has the AA logo in the decals
Lou, did you hear about Hero collector offering a 24 inch Enterprise-D?
is that the subscription thing? are they finally going thru with it?
Would love to have this kit. However, unless I hit the lottery, it ain’t happening. The cost of this model left me 😳😳😳!
I am reminded of the ship in Disney's Black Hole sci-fi flick.
Cygnus.
How are you gonna get this fabulous model to the Nats?
not gonna do it :)
Great job! I loved that movie. Just curious how much is the kit.
about 1300.00
@@aztekdummy Any chance of getting a link to the site for purchase? I was under the impression it was no longer being produced.
@@robertt7002 send me an email at aztekdummy@att.net and I'll send you Tony's contact info
Came out marvelous!!!!!
What is the name of the movie that ship is in?
The film was called silent running 😉👍
Awesome again! Killed It!!!
I clicked thinking that was an image of an Elite Dangerous Generation Ship.
Need one 🥰
Beautiful Kit, need thicker glass for support. The ship and special effects were good in the movie to bad the plot was bad!
but that just adds more weight. It's a vicious cycle
Red paint to a modeler is like anti-seize to a mechanic.😄
That is a beast
Ace mate 😁👌
"No Buenos Notches" :p lol
looks great to me like it and nope cant do it just to fily to do and more world of the dumb if we ever do this to us
Can anyone tell me what TV show or movie this model comes from?
It's from the 1972 movie "Silent Running". The model itself was later reused on Classic Battlestar Galactica .
@@djcorny technically, the footage was reused. The model itself was long gone by then
@@aztekdummy of course you are right.
Hi
It's called a cat walk.😀
Messaged you Lou, hope I got the email address correct. AMAZING build!
