Bobby Heenan was wrestling. As a teen, me and 4 or 5 other teenaged guys met The Brain after he did a radio interview. He put on the whole Bobby "The Brain" routine in a hallway for 6 teenaged boys. He never dropped the persona. It was great. To see him suffer like he did at the end was really heartbreaking. He gave me and millions of others GREAT entertainment. I pray God gives him peace in the palm of HIS hand.
Well said, and yes he was in pain ,,... a Tremendous amount of pain but he fought Hard until the end because he knew that life was precious. My favorite
I'm a humanoid loved the brain's humor as a kid he kept you watching...me and my brother was happy when he joined wcw and mean Jean introduced him....good times
I remember a few years after this, and after he went through the surgery that removed part of his jaw and the reconstruction.... he was on FaceBook on an official chat etc...and yes it was really him and such... even though he really couldn't talk anymore, he still had his wit etc and still zing people as only he could... he could still type..and boy... being able to experience that live?? Awesome... he was still 'The Brain' no matter what.
I had the pleasure of knowing Bobby before he went to the WWF. In the early 70:s, he was a vastly underrated wrestler, taking crazy, over the top rope bumps and juicing every nite. Back then he managed the Valiant Brothers, Baron Von Rashcke, Ernie Ladd, or whomever else was facing Dick the Bruiser. No one could cut a promo like Bobby. Outside the ring, he was by far the funniest, wittiest guy in the business. There will never be another like him. GOAT manager. Rest in peace Ray.
it's haunting to hear how right Bobby is about the business, steroids, and knowing this was his last interview before the cancer took over is even more historic. RIP Brain, you were hilarious and one of the best heel managers to ever exist!
Pro wrestling is like every other career path; no matter what you do, there will only ever be a small number of people at the highest level, and you will only make a fraction of what they will.
To see how different he looked compared to his annoucer days, but cancer does that to you sadly. Bobby "the brain" Heenan was the greatest heel commentator (along with Jessie "the body" Ventura) not to mention funny as well, he along with Gorilla Monsoon were an amazing duo no doubt, RIP to both of them.
It's sad that his condition actually got a lot worse than this before he died. But, he kept meeting people and going to conventions right up to the end. Still had the personality even when he couldn't talk anymore.
What happened to Bobby Heenan is one of the saddest things I've seen. He brought so much joy to my childhood. He did not deserve to end up the way he did. I just hope I can meet him again in heaven. He made Hulk Hogan's career...
I knew he was going to say Prime Time with Monsoon. Those two had great chemistry.. There will never ever be another Bobby Heenan or Monsoon for that matter.
As a kid I used to hate him lol. I got so mad when he called hogan fans hulkamorons lmfao!!! As an adult I enjoyed rewatching so many videos of him making his wise cracks. He was absolutely gifted with his comedy. Rest in peace bobby!! You were the best!!
He really would be. I'd love to hear his takes on current society, and the business (although he honestly didn't really like talking about wrestling much as he got older - if it isn't obvious by this interview).
I highly recommend Heenan's shoot interviews with Jim Cornette. Those videos hint at what Bobby could have been in the podcast universe. They're here on TH-cam, and are some of the best observations on pro wrestling that you will ever hear. And the funniest too,
@@AdoreYouInAshXI It’s crazy how he looks like a different guy both 5 years prior and after this video. 2002, 2007 and onwards look like 3 totally different people

A super intelligent dude, he is right the businesses is dead, compared to what it was in the 80s and 90s, it does feel like an independent event. Wrestling died around the time bobby heenan got out of it if not earlier
this man was why I watched the AWA. The Minnesota or Midwest region was amazing. The shows and the talent that they produced out of here was second to none!
I used to get the WWF magazine and Heenan had an article on the last page of each edition. He made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe. He was the one who made me first appreciate the heels. His comment that wrestling was "over" because it had already gone as far as it could go sounds prescient now. Wrestling as a mainstream draw was over at that point, and will stay that way for a long time. The Attitude Era has to be forgotten and there will have to be another cultural shift. It will continue to collect serious fans but the sharp rise of the eighties fell off again in the 2000s as hardcore wrestling and pushing the limits of adult storylines hit the wall. I am glad we had those times. I am glad we had Heenan.
One of the best teams ever was Gorilla Monsoon, and Bobby the Brain Heenan. Gorilla being Face, and Heenan being Heel made for a dynamic that can never be duplicated. My dad, brother, and myself laugh until we cried listening to them two.
Hate to see Bobby like this. He seemed so jaded and negative. I’m sure his Illness and treatment really took a toll. **edit** Also just realized this interview was also JUST after the Benoit tragedy so everyone in the business was feeling pretty negative. Still hate to see it.
He was an amazing entertainer. They don't make em like bobby the brain anymore. I wish I could thank him for all the years of hilarious entertainment and all the laughs
As I'm watching this, I see Bobby getting introduced as Bockwinkle and Steven's manager in the AWA. It seems like yesterday..time goes by to damn fast. RIP Brain .
Bobby was and will always be The Goat ( Greatest Of All Time). He fought cancer tooth and nail until the final bell rang. Thank you Bobby and goodnight.
He looks and sounds so different from his previous interviews just a few years prior to this… he’s more upbeat in this but seems like he’d wanna be doing anything else lmfao
It's disheartening to witness how an illness can dramatically alter a person's appearance within just 5 years. In 2002, Bobby Heenan appeared so vibrant and healthy, but by 2007, the contrast is stark with drastic weight loss-a sight that evokes sadness. Even more distressing was observing his condition in the final days of his life, where he tragically lost the ability to speak. RIP
To me u can tell he didn't have long before he couldn't talk at all, especially with how cancer had almost ridden him of his ability to speak. It's a shame, it really is.

As an adult today: knowledgeable person with the best advice ever.
