      It is also much kinder ecologically. When ebony is harvested, the tree is cut down and then examined for color streaks. Harvesters then only bring the black ones to the mill as they command more money. This only stopped once the boffins at Taylor's forest management project (I don't recall the name) started paying for an equal amount for any color of healthy ebony. They did this to stop the 75% (or so) rejection rate of trees after they were cut down.
      I may be in error about some of this as I haven't looked into this project in years.

    • @lleheaven
      @lleheaven 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      genxtargetmarket Just so you know, Bob Taylor bought one of, maybe the largest manufacture of Ebony in the world. He probably is now the supplier of most of the Ebony other companies buy. Approximately 1 out of every 10 trees were black ebony and because of the primitive tools the locals had they would cut down the trees to see if they were ideal, if not, they rot on the ground. Bob Taylor started harvesting all of them. Sure, better for the economy but also, he makes waaaaaaaay more money from using all of the ebony and being the worlds largest ebony distributor. :P

    • @OrdinaryLatvian

      Honest question, why didn't you just learn how to play the normal guitar? Our dominant hand is the left one, so isn't it better suited to navigating the fretboard than the non-dominant one?
      I'm a lefty violinist so I just learnt that way. And I can say, it's nice knowing I can play about 99% of guitars and basses I run into.
