      Their Best LOOKING Acoustasonic Yet!
      Jazz shape works really well with it. But still looks like it should price around 40% lower. I think it's the plastic pickup that does that. Even the knobs look cheap from a distance even though they are wood. Love the natural color.

      Fender years ago decided that they would drop hard cases and, in some cases, any case at all to help keep price rises down. That's one of the reasons why a Strat today costs much less than it did 20 years ago in inflation-adjusted terms.
      Saying "at that cost I expect a hard case" is meaningless. Setting prices isn't an arbitrary process. Adding a case would change the costs/profit calculation. Meaning? Higher retail prices. If you want a case, buy one.

    • @XENONEZZ2
      @XENONEZZ2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@joebryant8500 For a guitar of that price and quality a hard case seems more appropriate.

I remember when modeling amps seemed like a total gimmick and now they are widely accepted. It's not hard for me to see guitars going to same way. The big issue for me is the price - will these keep selling for $2k when they aren't new and exciting anymore?

    • @FastRedPonyCar

      Here’s the potential rub for me…I’ve got a Martin GPC Aura GT (Andertons have a great video of it) and it has the awesome fishman aura preamp in it that models different mics and it sounds SIGNIFICANTLY better than the piezo pickup under the bridge.
      If that fails, I still have a killer sounding acoustic that I can add a different pickup into like a kk sound or something.
      If the electronics in this fail and they’re out of production, do you have a $2000 paperweight? The magic of this guitar IS that preamp.

    ughhhhhhh amping the bridge saddle of an acoustic instrument defeats the purpose of an acoustic instrument! The WHOLE BODY resonates to create an acoustic tone. If you play unplugged literally on top of the saddle, it'll sound like electric acoustic, which is a beehive full of farts.
    Mic an acoustic guitar because it sounds musical. amplify an electric guitar because it sounds musical.
    Never use electronics on an acoustic because it sounds like a beehive full of farts.

    • @davidburke2132
      @davidburke2132 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The price is reflective of where it’s made and how it’s made. It’s not that different to other Fender USA made guitars. This new Acoustasonic Jazzmaster is for sale from Anderton’s @ £1849, which aligns it exactly with the cheapest of the American Ultra Series Fenders, and the Acoustasonic Teles and Strats are for sale from Anderton’s @ £1599, which aligns them exactly with the cheapest of the American Professional II Series Fenders. In both cases I’d argue that the build and the electronics of the Acoustasonic guitars are more complex than their all-electric counterparts (which could actually be argued would justify a higher price) but of course they don’t have the hardcases that the all-electric models at this price point have so that probably balances out.
      I think it’s a fair question as to why Fender don’t make guitars like this at a lower price point through manufacture in Mexico for example, but it’s not really fair to criticise the pricing of these USA made guitars (at least not in comparison with their counterparts and other US made instruments). Ultimately I suspect the reasons that Fender hasn’t yet introduced a Mexican made Acoustasonic (or indeed an even cheaper Squier version) include:
      - they see it as an inherently more “niche” product that better fits the lower production volumes inherent to manufacture in the US and the price that results from that;
      - they see the manufacturing techniques to be slightly more complex and not so easily transferred to high volume electric guitar production plants like their Ensenada one;
      - they want to retain the Acoustasonic range as a “premium” product and not end up diluting the brand or “stealing” USA Acoustasonic sales from themselves with a lower cost import product (which is especially pertinent if they see the demand to be more limited); and
      - the electronics developed alongside Fishman are likely to be a significantly larger proportion of the cost of building the guitar than the electronics in a conventional electric guitar would be, and as such would have an even more significant effect on the cost price, and therefore sales price, of a guitar made in Mexico or under the Squier brand. Essentially they’d be able to reduce the price by making it in Mexico, but probably not as much as you might expect and not to bring it into line with their Mexican made electrics, which would be a pricing and pricing perception problem of its own.

    Do yourself a favor and go listen to John Butler trio! His early stuff. Seriously! Or at least these songs... Pickapart (my fave), Zebra, Better Than, Ocean.. then you will see someone who brings the HEAT with acoustic/electric guitar! Also, check out Groovin Slowly and Peaches n Cream. Listen with your woman. You can thank me later!

    I'm a big Jazzmaster fan (going by my profile picture that's obvious) but the price is still about 2x too high if you ask me. I reckon in the coming years, they will announce cheaper Mexican made ones.

      I legitimately don't understand the market for these. If you're gigging, a PRS, LTD, or Godin with a piezo pickup would do the trick. Opeth does their shows with a PRS with a piezo (granted theirs cosrt more). If you're a home player, this doesn't make a ton of sense outside of the novelty.

      @@thesmellycatjazz for me these sound more convincingly acoustic than ones with piezos (not that they sound bad). having that great acoustic sound and then being able to use an electric pickup with a switch would be great for looping! too expensive for what it is though!

    • @thesmellycatjazz
      @thesmellycatjazz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hisgrinningskull2122 if you're playing through a piezo, you can and probably should have a separate signal chain for the acoustic stuff. So pre-amp pedal and possibly a PA or acoustic amp, which is something I'd probably want if I had this
      For live looping, I don't think it's such a big deal because things tend to a little muddy/busy when you start layering stuff anyways.

    Hey Captain! Funny and somewhat personal question for you; please take no offense as I am genuinely curious....
    Why is it that you pronounce the "g" in words ending in "ing" like a "k"? For example, I always notice it when you say the word "something" as "somethink." Is it a local dialect sort of thing? Or a personal little vocal quirk you've developed over the years? Its just interesting to hear, and although I listen to lots of youtubers/announcers/speakers from The UK, I am only conscious of it when I listen to YOU! Haha.
    Thank you and much love to you and the Andertons crew for all of your hard work, and countless hours of gear addicted geekdom that have taught me so much over the years. All the best!

    Why oh why can't fender put more energy into getting some nice electric
    tones out of these things. Built in distortion? Ug. To have these nice
    acoustic sounds along with some sweet fender electric pickups and this
    guitar would be perfect for my needs. Ironically I have a Taylor T5 and
    it sounds great as an electric but not so good as an acoustic. Then its
    designer hooks up with Fender and makes these guitars sound great
    acoustically and pretty crappy, or at least very limited, as electrics.
    So unfortunate. But great demo and playing.

    Imagine if, what are effectively, the 10 IR's loaded into these guitars, where user changeable via an app, wirelessly, from your phone. What if you could load bass guitar sounds? Synth sounds? Etc...?
    AND what if the body sensor function was equipped with whatever processing the acoustic/electric Roland Cajon has??? Pair a guitar like that with a multitrack looper and you'd have a lot of fun on your hands!

    just my opinion its basically it's nothing more than a kramer ferrington acoustic with a slightly different shape and manufacturers name. Me I prefer what is unique which is what Douglas Blair (former W.A.S.P.) guitarist used to make in the early 1990's i believe. the doublenecks which were complete 6 string electrics with a complete 6 or 12 string acoustics, acoustic/electrics. Also Hamer with duotone and taylor acoustics and Carvin all have done variations. I prefer the douglas blair, yes they are doublenecks but were unique and different. I believe if lets say gibson would do a doubleneck explorer, flying v, les paul, or any other guitar brand, EVH, Charvel, Schecter, Even chapman these would be different to the typical acoustic electrics like this new fender acoustisonic. That's just my opinion what do i know.

    I bought Acoustasonic Strat 3 months ago, and I return it after 2 days. There was some issues and generaly I was disappointed. Also, 2000 usd guitar shouldn't look so cheap. And for that price, Fender should provide hard case. Im a member of fb group Fender Acoustasonic and I reed so many posts of owners who have issues with these guitars.
    2 months ago, I bought Godins A6 Ultra cognac burst. And I love it! Its guitar without any issues, and it looks beautiful! Ok, there is no many sounds like Acoustasonic, but I paid it 960 usd.
    Anyway, it seems this Acoustasonic Jazzmaster sounds better than Tele and Strat.

    I know the above video is now well over a year old, but I am trying to get a message to anyone who can help me in this endeavor. I am in the market for a Fender Acoustasonic Jazzmaster guitar. Can Lee and Pete do a video comparing the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster with the normal Sitka Spruce top and the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster version with the all-Mohogany top, both played throught the Fender Acoustasonic SFX acoustic amp. I have searched all of the You Tube videos that I can find on these this guitar and have only ever found 1 video where the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster all-Mohogany is even being played and in it they talk over everything that is being played. This is the video for the all-mohogany toped Jazzmaster that was put out by Fender. It's very frustrating that I cannot find this comparison. You guys have always done the best videos that have ever been done for this instrument. Please let me know by email if you can do this comparison. If you need my email just let me know but you should have it I am subscribed to your channel.
