I had to smile when you said you were using peppermint oil to flavor the chocolate. It brought back lovely memories of childhood. I was born & raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, & still live there. When I was growing up, and when my family was able we went to the local drive-in theater in the summer, they had a playground for young'ns to swing, slide, & climb until it was dark enough for the movie. While playing in the fresh air, there was always the scent peppermint in the air, because this drive-in was located near a factory that distilled & extracted peppermint oil.

I could be mistaken, but I believe she’s loosened the bulb just slightly so it intentionally stays off. Doing so would keep all “lit” bulbs above the backsplash, and provide a more even dispersement of the bulbs.
In my opinion, having one random bulb lit up in that location would throw off the balance of the accent lighting, and stand out in a negative way.

I love using peppermint oil! It's such a cleaner crisper mint flavor! They have unsalted ritz too for anyone wanting to avoid the salt.

I would try this with Maria cookies or tea biscuit cookies. They’d be more similar to the centres in the Guide cookies.

Emmy, You could add Orange oil ( food grade) and dark chocolate for a variation.

My goodness, I don't know how many would have actually made it to the cookie sheet after the dip and flip, lol. Every time you lifted the fork & cookie out of the chocolate, I imagined it going straight into your mouth... which is most likely what would happen if I tried to make these lol. Some would make, maybe...

When Emmy says that peppermint oil is Very strong, she is Not kidding! I've bought some and tried making my own mint tea by shaking it into tea bags. Two drops of it is Over powering, while just one quick shake into a tea bag is just about right.

Variation of this would be to take a Ritz, smear a little bit of peanut-butter or Gnutella and use plain chocolate, either milk- or dark. Ritz crackers *are* salty as well as sweet, so if there's a salt-free version (haven't checked), that'd be better.

I have a good idea!! Mix natural unsweetened peanut butter that's had the fat drained off with honey, coat thickly one side of a ritz cracker with it, dip pb cracker in the melted chocolate sans mint, and you've got a sort of a reeses pb cup!!

For the viewers in the Philippines... since Ritz crackers are hard to find and expensive there in the Philippines coz it's imported item, just use the local Fita crackers, they're basically the same as Ritz 😆 or, if you want it a little sweeter, use Graham crackers instead

“Rinse and repeat” is a phrase I remember from TV commercials for shampoo - in the 60’s perhaps - Breck Shampoo, maybe…? A search tells us that it was perhaps a marketing strategy to sell more shampoo… Another article gives a less commercial answer - the first wash collects the oils from the hair, but it doesn’t lather, which we associate with CLEAN. The second wash results in LOTS of lather, then rinses away, giving you that “squeaky clean.” At least that’s the theory, right? So fun to find out where these phrases come from!

We don't have girl scout cookies in the UK. My mother is American and the nearest to a thin mint would be a viscount mint biscuit or a mint penguin biscuit bar. 😉

Turn Ritz crackers into Reese's peanut butter cups:
Make Ritz peanut butter sandwiches then dip them into melted chocolate. Once cooled it tastes a lot like Reese's peanut butter cups. So delicious.
