People who have to comment on how a person in the sewing community who is providing so much value to everybody is talking and using their words is truly sad. I love all your videos and thanks so much for all you do ❤

Right, what's the point in random rudeness on these inter-webs

  • @philippalincoln2262

I think people say ‘um’ when they are formulating what to say next, it’s part of the thought process which totally makes sense if your videos are unscripted. Personally, I am so impressed that your videos are unscripted! I don’t know how you do that, as you’re very good at explaining all the key points we need to be aware of 👍 Like many viewers, your videos are something I look forward to on a Sunday, either over breakfast or if I am working when I get home, there’s something very exciting about seeing new patterns. So please keep doing you, we appreciate you! 😊

How rude! I can't imagine why some people should be critical of your syntax. Every individual has their own unique way of expressing themselves. Go girl!

Agree I love these for Kate’s commentary (and facial expressions, particularly when pronouncing unfamiliar words❤️) and really appreciate it’s not chopped up like so many other TH-camrs, the person complaining can just go to that week’s blog on fold line instead.

    • @TheFoldLine
      @TheFoldLine  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Thank you! I'm definitely an off-script person so it works best for me! 😆

Thankyou Kate. I can’t believe someone has decided to comment on something as rudimentary as ‘Um’ everyone does it. Your videos are amazing Kate, just keep doing what your doing. Great video as always. 👍🏻👏🏼👏🏼😃😘

Thank you so much for another interesting video Kate! You're a great presenter, so engaging and natural. I much prefer that over a rehearsed speech. Let's normalise ums! 🙌🏻

OMG Kate! Don’t change anything!! It totally feels like you and I are chatting in my kitchen over a coffee which is why the majority of us love watching your videos! People feel free to say the oddest things on social media. Bizarre…

To be able to present to an audience in a natural, authentic manner is a real skill and gift. When you add to this the fact that your vlogs are unscripted and done via an online platform only enhances your presentation, it doesn't detract as far as I am concerned. Engaging audiences is the goal of all presenters. And as someone who lectured for nearly forty years at University, I can say with some experience, Just keep doing you... You bring value, knowledge and passion to these vlogs.

Firstly you are a joy to watch and you bring so much useful content to us sewers and the sewing community, if the viewer who finds your “umming” irritating then do not watch.. and thankfully it was your answer to the persons “umming irritation, after all they are not tied to chair and forced to watch you. I for one thank you for all the umming, !! perhaps you could add the occasional “ahhhh “ Thank you for all the time and effort you take to bring us these videos.

Kate, your videos are very natural and the information you provide is truly amazing and so informative. The 'um' is when you are thinking aand it is part of the way you talk (and normal speech for most people). Your videos are clearly not scripted and don't need to be. I wonder if the critics have ever recorded themselves?

Me too (re. recording lectures and Ums)! Ums and errs are just not something most people notice, I've never noticed Kate's either. I once had a colleague who randomly added 'there' to the ends of sentences where it didn't make sense. I must admit that was a bit distracting...there.

How unfortunate that they can go out of their way to insult someone who is offering viewers information on something they may wish to buy. Saving them time and money. I’ll say a prayer for them to find peace in their heart and mind. Have a happy day!❤

Kate! You are ABSOLUTELY THE BEST commenting patterns! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉This little nonsensical people would always criticize others rather than looking deeply over themselves. Your project is great, your way to talk is natural and that’s what locks many of us, you don’t use an influencer kind of speech, rather your speech feels like a nice professional friend explaining things that we are interested on. To the silly commenters: go and get a life!!!!!

Please don't worry about the way you speak, Kate. It is always lovely to watch you because it feels like chatting to a friend. Very informal and lovely. I'd much rather have a thousand "um" and "so" than something stilted and formal. Keep up the good work!

I love your videos so much. They got me through the worst bits of lockdown and I’ve loved them ever since. It does sound like you’re speaking to a friend and I think that’s is why I find them so calming and enjoyable. Thanks for all the work you put in.

Morning Kate! Lovely patterns especially the shacket, the school mistress outfit and the bag. I got a Cricut for Christmas this year so this would make a great base for a personalised bag. As others have said, please don't be self-conscious about the ums and so's. It’s normal and much more natural than reading a script would be. Thank you for another great roundup.
