  • Lead rope-soloing one of my favorite routes in Tucson, Arizona. Pretty cool getting to climb 1000 ft of rock on your own in the morning before going to work in the afternoon!

Suddenly everyones doing the upside down grigri and trax thing, tedious compared to just an Eddy with no other device.

I don’t have an Eddy, but I like the redundancy of the GriGri + trax. If the first explodes for whatever reason, the trax (connected with a sling to belay loop or on its own load bearing connect point) stands a chance of catching me when the slipknots come tight. Also, it holds the slack and makes feeding the grigri a breeze. I like it and it works for me. Cheers!

@@kwagner059 I climb with a Maxim 9.9 in a customized backpack and just the Eddy with no mods, no other device, and no backup knots. In fact, I consider backup knots to be too much of a risk if not outright dangerous. I've got about 5k 5.7-5.11 trad single and multipitch piches in on that system and I can typically do longer multipitch routes a 1/3 faster than I can with a partner.
