  • In this video, I unbox the Bosch GTS10XC table saw. I set up the fence and check the blade alignment. I also give an honest review of what I find along the way.

Thank you for a great video. My table saw arrived today and without your explanation of some points I would have been stuck.

Thanks for the video, it was easier than trying to read the instructions 😂 I just purchased this saw and Bosch have changed the fence for a better design that you tighten from above with a clip now

Thanks for the video, it was better to see how to put it together, as well as read instruction.
The guard is different on mine, ive just set it up today using your video but I bought it in April May time. It doesn't have that handle on the side, it's a push leaver on the top, get in touch with bosch and see if they will replace it. I would send a picture but I don't know how

Hi Lynne, thanks for commenting, I'm really glad that you thought that the video was useful. I hope you enjoy using your saw, as I still think it is a great saw. I will try and reach out to bosch and see what they say.
      Thanks for watching

Thank you for this video! Just unboxed my own 10XC, and was stumped by the doorstep of a manual... It doesn't say that you need to use a screwdriver to open the base so the packing piece can be removed. Pretty basic bit of info to leave out! The pictures in black and white rather than colour also make it tricky to see what they are getting at for things like the mitre guide storage and so on. Having watched your video all the way through, I feel much better equipped to tackle all the setup work now.

Congrats on your new saw, I for one know how great it is to have a good one! I think that safety features that block the view are better taken off anyway... Your eyes and coordination are still the best tools to work safely! Merry Christmas and I hope you will enjoy your new tool for years to come!

Thanks for the sub mate! I started out with some propper crap tools way back when, and some beautiful bruises all the colours of the rainbow to show from them! I bought the above about 5 years ago and havent upgraded since, cause of space and money. But all in all a good saw. I only use it for rip cuts though, the sliding plate has too much slop to be trusted and the mitre gauge too, wondering if thats just me or?

    • @Create2make
      @Create2make  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for watching, I have found it to be a great saw. I have used the sliding plate and made a few rebates on some boxes and it's ok for that, just triple checked the mitre was at 90 degrees. I am still going to make a sled for it.

    To anyone watching this 2022:
The problem addressed at around 35:00 is now fixed with the snapping hook being on top of the Safety in the newer model.

You can't push the wood through with the push stick because you've got the riving knife set to cut dado/grooves etc (Below the height of the blade). You can lift it up 👍. But it is a bad design.

Are you sure you aren't just measuring run out on the blade? Note that this model, which I've been using a few years, has play in the fence. It doesn't always lock up square and this cannot be made better by the adjustments you made. You have to do a quick check before each cut.
Use a push stick that doesnt overhang the work piece and once past the back sufficiently you can pull the workpiece whilst keeping the tip of the push stick on the workpiece.
The guard can't be used on anything other than 18mm sheet. It's best removed and just take care. You can then use a decent push stick.
Oh...don't stand directly behind the machine when using it like you are in the video! It's a bad habit that will get you hurt. Despite using a psh stick, I have had a few work pieces kick back and trust me, they are flung put hard enough to impale you. Always stand just to one side...remove the risk!
Make yourselv a cross cut sled. It makes working small pieces safer and is a really versatile tool. It's a must for any bench saw. Remember to use nylon or hardwood runners that fit snugly for no play. I also rub beeswax onto the underside for a smoother operation (same for the fence).

One of very few reviews that I have seen that illustrate the various applications for the saw. The video is rather long though and I think that if you had scripted brief summaries of the points you made, the video could be more concise. Otherwise one of the best reviews I have seen.
Good luck with your endeavors and enjoy the saw.

Create 2 make I got my Bosch saw yesterday. It has a different dust shroud. No provision for vacuum but instead a two piece shroud, with a lever on top.
This will enable one to make very thin cuts, either side of the blade, without having to remove the shroud.
As I see it, the only time the user would have to remove the shroud, would be when making dado like cuts. Otherwise it could stay mounted.
I thought this might interest you, as you would not have to contend with the inconvenient knob on the right of the shroud.
      Hope this helps.
